“Family-friendly hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2012

We stayed for one night at Festive Hotel, together with our 2 kids. Our room had the pool view.
Upon arriving at the room, the children were very excited at the sight of the kid's bed! They had so much fun just climbing up and down the ladder leading to the bed. However, for safety reasons, we did not allow them to sleep up there.
We were a tad disappointed that the ro did not come with a bath tube. Otherwise, everything else was perfect, especially the pillows!
We tried the pools at the hard rock hotel and they were superb! There was a sand bar and the pool was huge, unlike the ones at festive hotel. The good thing about the pools at festive hotel was that it wasn't crowded. Will be good for those who want a swim and their privacy.
As we drove to RWS, and we had a no of bags with us (mostly the kids' stuff), we thought it'll be good if the concierge was there to help us with the luggage.
Foodwise, there are plenty of choices at the waterfront area. The FIESTA restaurant in the hotel seems pretty empty..not sure if the food is good though as we did not dine there.
Overall,we got the room at a promo of $200+ (exc breakfast) so it's quite reasonable. If it costs more, we might have chosen Rasa Sentosa instead.

The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The location of the hotel is decent, as are all hotels at RWS - they are practically located adjacent to one another, or on diametrically opposite ends. However, if your purpose of staying in this hotel is to not to explore sentosa but to travel around Singapore, you might want to reconsider as it is a couple of train transits away from the main shopping belt.

However, given that an extra deck bed and sofa bed are given in the room, you might think it is large enough to accomodate 1 or 2 kids. This is not necessariily true as my own experience tells me. The "living" area where the 2 extra beds are isn't exactly very big. In all the hotel room is just about the same size as an average 4 star hotel room, so as you can imagine, it isn't the most family-friendly size (unless your kids are really small).

nevertheless, my stay in the hotel was still a pleasant one, due in no small part to the courteous and helpful staff.

Room Tip: I dont know which side this is but rooms on the side facing Vivocity (where you take the sentosa exp...

I first stayed at Festive Hotel in 2010 and they gave me a free upgrade from a Deluxe Room to a Deluxe Family Room and was able to check in immediately, which was really wonderful.

This trip, I booked the Deluxe Room at a discounted rate by using my Resort Worldcard. Unfortunately, there wasn't any upgrade. Neitehr were we allowed to check in until past 3. Even though, pre-check in were done, I still had to queue up with the rest to obtain the keys. That took about 20 minutes, which I felt could have been better handled if they had a special counter for those who had already pre-checked in.

We were given a room with facilities for the disabled. I did not like the shower as there were no enclosure and only had a shower curtain. I'm not sure whether this is the standard facility but I suspect this was for the convenience of the disabled. The room was worn and not well maintained and there were dust on the furnitures. I was pretty disappointed with the condition of the room as my last experience at this hotel was pretty good. Of course, this is my personal opinion as I am someone who is highly concerned about the cleanliness of hotel rooms, so your opinion may differ from mine.

Location wise, it is great if you are bringing kids to enjoy the Universal Studio. My suggestion is perhaps it would be better to get an upgrade to Deluxe Family King if you have the budget.

Booked this as part of a staycation for the family. The hotel was in a good location just minutes away from Universal Studios. All the rest of the attractions were within a short walking distance from the hotel. For shoppers -- the branded shops stayed open even at 10pm! The Great Singapore Sale was on and there were "50% off" signs everywhere. Pity there was no time for shopping.
Rooms were nice and the kids enjoyed the loft bed. TV could do with HBO though. Movies cost $20 a pop! There are vending machines and ice machines on every floor and the kids couldn't resist popping a cube of ice every time they walked past! The pool was nice and the kids enjoyed themselves. The breakfast buffet was good and it came with the package we booked. Ordered room service and it was prompt.
We didn't even have enough time to explore the rest of the island! The kids wanted a longed stay.'Nuff said.

The hotel is ok, but i'm gonna talk about the service.

I called and asked about 5 different staff about the casino. I asked about the Poker Room and no one could tell me anything. The staff have no idea about anything with regards to gaming.

I asked a simple question, what are the table limits at the poker room and they said why don't i just go to the casino to find out. The poker room is all the way in the book so i told them, i don't want to go and find out, i'd prefer to find out over the phone and then i can make my decision.

The staff member then said, the poker room is in the casino and then hung up on me.

This is really upsetting. Service is awful!

The hotel stay is not cheap based on original price.
Best to look out for Deal/Groupon, or the Resorts World Sentosa's (RWS) occasional Mastercard promotion.

RWS is rather crowded. But that adds to the holiday and festive atmosphere.

Free admission into Sentosa if you produce your hotel booking papers at Sentosa Island gantries.

Choosing a room
==============

Loved the room!
The Deluxe King Family Suite is well designed. But for the price, it does not provide 5star personalised service, presumably because they have many rooms and guests to take care of. Service is probably 3star.

Hotel wings are L-shaped.
Ask for view of pool with view of the Merlion statue(so it does not face the morning sun).
If you choose poolview (without view of Merlion statue) - the rooms directly face the morning sun and it can get rather blinding for which you need to draw your curtains.

Driving/Parking
========

If you drive in, hotel guests get free parking (get the complimentary parking coupon from concierge – one per day only).

Hotel guests get free tickets to take monorail back into Sentosa (one time only) (Useful if you wanna go to Vivocity on the mainland to eat and come back).

Inside the room
============
For older kids who are 4 yrs and above, they will enjoy using the loft bed (using ladder) – Family Deluxe King.

In the room, there’s King bed, sofabed, and kid’s loft bed.
The sofabed can take a small child and an adult.

King-sized bed is spongy - could not sleep well.
Ironically, I slept better on the sofa bed (which was stiffer and something I am used to) with my child.

Room has shampoo, body gel, toothbrushes/pastes, towels, bathtub, hairdryer, electric kettle.
For comb, you can ask room service.

Icecube machine at lift lobby of each floor.

Welcome drinks (bottled mineral water) available in the room.
Instant coffee/teabag, instant MILO (chocolate drink) available.
Fridge is empty : no in-room bar.

4 pillows in total in the room.

Breakfast
========
Breakfast time at Festive Hotel – best to go when they start at 7.30am.
This is because during peak times, the queue is very long, and the wait is terrible! You will see dismayed faces in the queue. We always make sure we go early from the start.

A variety of food, but food quality is so-so.

Pool
======

Festive hotel has its own pool. There’s shaded cabana huts you can rest in and dump your belongings at. There’s a shallow pool for smaller kids.

Those who stay in Festive Hotel can walk to next door Hard Rock Hotel to use its pool (with sand!!!! Bring your beach toys and digging tools) – quite crowded, so at most we could only find one deck chair for entire family to dump things on.

Best time to go Hard Rock pool is late afternoon. The HR pool faces morning and noon sun which gets very very hot. You can get towels from a counter on the way to the HR pool. Tell them your Festive Hotel room number. There’s shower/changing room at the towel counter.

Food
======

Foodwise, it is quite a long walk to the public shops/restaurants area in RWS – about 10 mins.
But along the way, your young kids will enjoy the escalator ride (with nice digital animations overhead).

Malaysian Food Street (to the left of Universal Studios entrance as you face it) is affordable and food quality is very good. e.g S$4 for Malaccan Chicken Rice Balls with chicken meat, S$5 for Ampang Yong Tau Foo, S$5 for Penang Char Kway Teow. But it gets crowded. We always have to walk to the end then can find empty table/chairs.

Room Tip: Hotel wings are L-shaped. Ask for view of pool with view of the Merlion statue(so it does not fac...

We spent 4 nights at the Festive Hotel and loved it. The location, next to USS was great, also easy walk to other Sentosa atractions. As a hotel guest you get a free monorail pass to use when you cross to Vivo City. Having robes and slippers is a nice touch as is having a toothbrush and paste free, they also provide bottled water everyday. Bathroom is nice and large, bed is ooh so comfy... Check in was quick and easy, the staff were freindly and helpfull. You can even buy your Universal Studios tickets at the hotel. I only had one little complaint and that is, there is not enough lighting in the room and felt a bit dark, otherwise, a great stay.
