“Rooms to small, and poor service”
Reviewed November 2, 2011

Good location to universal studio however on two occasions had to remind them to clean room in late afternoon. One incident there was a number of Wine glasses left in the corridor for at least 14 hours where young children where running around. Had to look for service by the pool twice. No one to be found. I did not find this hotel to be family orientated.

We bought a night stay in Family Room as part of a package deal with Universal studio but the overall experience left me really bitter. The check in was not allowed before the scheduled 3 pm, which in itself is not unexpected, but even after pre-checking at 11 am, they gave us a low floor room which was not even prepared for a 2A+2C family (only had 3 sets of pillows/ quilts/ tea cups) - the TV remote had dead battery...More shock was to come when I was told that they don't provide drinking water glasses and I must pay if I want them !! This from a 300 SGD+ a night hotel. I must have called house keeping 10 times and EVERY single time the phone was engaged and it would take forever to get any service....shoddy, shoddy, shoddy.

The room (the so called delux Family King bed) itself is very small (kids loved the novelty of the bunk bed for a while though) and if u have 2 kids (10+ years) like we did, you need to take care not not bump into each other. Thank God for the balcony though.

Next day B'fast was a similar let down - what kind of resort hotel has queues for breakfast at 9.30 am !! Well, this type of rip off hotel does and that too after charging separately for kids. Pathetic really. Thank God I enquired if the 25SGD GV that I got in package can be adjusted against breakfast cost (imagine if I had not done so at that moment, apparently I couldn't have done so at checkout!!)

The swimming pool may be nice for someone living without a pool but our condo's pool is 10x better so that didn't impress me much (nice patios though around the pool). They don't even have proper change rooms near the pool, let alone lockers. They do have a colorful play area for little kids around the pool that looked nice.

Room Tip: Ask for NOT to be given rooms facing construction on the outside. Pool side rooms would be nicer I t...

My family and i stayed in a Deluxe family King room at Festive hotel over a Sat night to celebrate my niece's birthday. The hotel is steps away from Universal studio, restaurants and the train station making it one of the ideal hotels to stay in Sentosa from a location point of view. While it scores highly in terms of location and facilities the level of service and clealiness is not up to standard which is why i have rated it average overall.

In terms of facilities, the hotel has a gorgeous pool for folks who likes to do a bit of swimming or suntanning. There is also a seperate wet play area for kids and massage pool for those who just wants to laze in the water. Perfect for the family as it caters to all requirements. Family with kids can visit the hardrock hotel pool nearby which even have a manmade beach for kids to play.

The room itself was average. The deluxe family King room was not as big as i've imagined and the sofa bed which was supposed to fold into a double bed was in fact more of a super single bed at best. You would struggle to fit two adults in there. The loft bed is a novelty but can be dangerous for kids as it involves climbing up steep ladder. The worst part of the room is the clealiness. The walls and lamps had a layer of dusts and the room was infested with ants. I left a cup of plain water on the desk and ants were crawling all over the cups within minutes. The next day they found their way into the bags that i left on the desk and it was a nitemare getting rid of them. The hotel should really do a better job of pest control. Having that much ants in a room is not something i would tolerate in a good hotel.

The service of the staff is also not up to standard. I tried to call to check if my room was ready for early check in and there was no direct contact to the front desk. There was only a number to a reservation desk and the lady that picked up the call was obviously not trained properly. i told her my name more than 5 times and she kept telling there were no records of my booking. In the end she found out that she was looking at the wrong hotel. When she finally got everything right she told me she couldn't reach her front office and wasn't able to provide me with the info that i need. I asked her to check and call me back but the call never came despite her saying that she will call back. Totally unacceptable. When i checked in to the room, the baby cot that i requested for at booking was nowhere in sight. I tried to call the front desk from the room but nobody bothered to pick up the call. In the end i had to go down to the front desk and queue for 15 mins to get my request thru. Front desk staff does not proactively approach guests to assist them which is another indication of poor service levels.

Breakfast was provided with the room and we were able to get a table rather quickly. The staff seems a bit lost in leading quests to the tables but we got thru that without much issues. The buffet breakfast was rather limited in terms of variery but the standard of the food was decent.

Those of u who wants to stay there have to take note of the following items as well:

- If you are planning to dine at one of the restaurants nearby on a weekend night please make reservation in advance. There are long queues everywhere and it is almost impossible to get tables if it rains.

- the train station beside Universal studio often have very very long queues on sat evenings. If you plan to take the train to vivocity or home you need to factor in the queuing time.

Overall i will only recommend this hotel if u want to visit universal studio or if you are planning to use the gorgeous pools at resortworld.

the hotel was very nice- the decor, the room, the location was wonderful. the concierge desk was helpful. the staff is honest- i forgot my cell phone in the lobby and when i came back for it after half an hr- it ws kept safely with the concierge.

the only thing where it could have been better was value for money.

overall- great place

Comfortable family hotel with a cruise ship feel – I think the designers must have fitted out cruise ships in a past life – all those bright colours and giant orchid prints! We booked a family room with a loft kids bed that our 9 year absolutely loved. The rooms are well appointed and the high ceilings give a very spacious feel.

A very comfortable hotel/resort although it is fairly apparent that the management has a very tight rein on costs from minimalist staffing levels through to pump pack toiletries and limited cable channels. Empty bar fridge to use as you wish. Combined bath shower not suited to those with mobility issues. The breakfast buffet is also more of an enhanced continental breakfast rather than an ABF and generally disappointing. The breakfasts we enjoyed at the neighbouring Hard Rock hotel last year were far superior.

The pool area is very comfortable but staff are thin on the ground if you feel like ordering some refreshments. There are no lifeguards and limited supervision/oversight.

Hotel guests also have access to the slightly more impressive pool at Hard Rock next door.

Unlike other reviews we didn’t experience any problems with the staff we encountered and in fact the front counter and concierge staff were very helpful. We arrived at 9:00 not expecting to be allocated our room until 3:00pm but received our keys at noon after a morning exploring the nearby Vivo City SC – don’t forget to ask for those pink passes for the monorail return journey.

We booked the SGD888 package including breakfast and entry to Universal Studios (very enjoyable – even in the rain) but given the lean manner in which the hotel is operated this doesn’t represent exceptional value (and the cost of the package has increased SGD200 in the last year!). While it is nice to be situated next door to Universal and the Casino etc there is very easy access to RWS via the monorail from Vivo City SC and a MRT station at the adjoining Harbourfront shopping/cruise complex.

Well located for those visiting Universal or the casino but given the high tariffs currently on ask and management focus on costs the value is hard to find!

I guess if you want to stay on Sentosa close to Universal studio, then you might choose this hotel if you don't want to spend more to stay in the two other adjacent hotels.
Although not terrible, it falls short in almost every way making it rather poor value for money.
Checking in took longer than it should because of the 4 staff at the counter, only one was dealing with checking in creating an albeit short queue. The rest were shufflng bits of paper and avoiding eye contact. The counter staff failed to give us the cards which would have allowed us free passage in and out of Sentosa Island on the monorail, normally S$3 per head per entry. The twin beds were narrow compared to other hotels of similar grade. The couch had stains on it although it does usefully pull out to be a sofa bed. The sink plug in our room was broken, as was the balcony door handle and the wardrobe knob which fell off. The bedside lamp (singular, not one lamp per bed) was missing. I don't know if there was room service but there was no room service menu. There was no bath, although the shower was adequate. The pool was unimaginatively rectangular. There was no free internet access anywhere in the hotel. Other hotels I have stayed in in Singapore and other cities around the world all had either free wifi through out the hotel, or at least in the lobby.
A comparable hotel would be the less expensive hotel at Hong Kong Disneyland, and that hotel was superior to the Festive in every way despite costing less.

Booked 1 Deluxe room for 3d2n through Agoda. Was given free upgrade to Family room upon check-in. Hotel gives free monorail pass to main island. Get from Concierge before leaving. Complimentary Nescafe coffee, TWG tea & Milo Fuze in room - all the best stuff for the whole family! Thumbs UP!
