“Thumbs Up for Service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2011

We were there to celebrate our 2nd daughter's 4th birthday.

From the moment we arrived, till the moment we left the hotel, it was service to the max!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a cheerful doorman who opened my side of the car door & proceeded to help unload our many bags.

Check-in was a breeze & we were soon whisked to our room which was pool-facing, on pool level. The porters came soon after with our stuffs.

The room was spacious & comfortable enough for the 6 of us - 3 kids, helper & us.
Our kids had fun playing on the loft bed though we only allowed our eldest to sleep on it (other 2 were too young).

The baby cot was not available on our 1st night, but they set one up for us the 2nd day.

There were many eateries in the vincinity & we had plenty of choices from western to chinese, to japanese. There were also a number of shops in the area & our kids (& even our helper) had a field day buying souveniors!

The pools at Hard Rock Hotel (guests can access the pools in any of the hotels) was superb & we practically spent our entire afternoon on our 2nd day there. We also had some quiet swim at the pools at Festive Hotel.

Room service was prompt & attentive.

With 3 kids, we had to pack economically & leave excessive stuffs like toys & bathrobes at home. We only had some story books & a stuff toy each. However, the hotel provided toiletories for the kids that came with some small toys which kept them entertained. They also supplied fresh bathrobes as & when we requested for them. Although I was told that they normally allow only 2 adults & 2 kids in each room (hence supplies as well), they eventually sent enough for everyone (this is despite me telling them to just give us whatever their 'allowable limit' was).

They also gave a complimentary small cake for my girl's birthday and she was simply thrilled.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Also, the hotel provided entry pass, in case guests decide to leave Sentosa to shop or dine at Vivo.

We meant to visit the beach at Sentosa while we were there, but our kids had such a good time at the hotel, we did not have time for other parts of Sentosa!

Thank you RWS, Festive Hotel for a wonderful birthday celebration for our 2nd girl. The other girls are asking to go there again for their birthdays!

This place has very funky hotel rooms and the kids thought the bunk beds were fantastic. It does have a very modern feel BUT I felt like we could have been anywhere in the world. It had no Asian feel whatsoever. It didnt even have a very Universal Studios feel. It was very expensive for what it was and although it was very nice. I wouldnt book in here again.

The pool was lovely but in the shade from very early in the afternoon. A blessing in disguise I guess from the sun but it did cool down very quickly. The pool had a great kids area and nice spa area.

The breakfast room was an absolute free for all in the mornings! Good selection but you needed to be prepared for warfare to get to the buffet!

As far as restuarants this was my biggest disapointment. I love singapore for the restuarants and I found that Sentosa Island just had NO variety. There was either expensive American chain hamburger outlets or expensive restauants. NOTHING that catered for families and was reasonably priced. It put a real dampener to our night out as we could find absolutely nothing to sit down and eat at that was available and were walking around forever in the heat. Eventually found a nice expensive Italian place! Definately not the Singapore food experience I remember.

All in all I would recommend going to Universal Studios and I cant fault the Festive for quality but I wouldnt got back. I'd prefer a "singapore" hotel

Room Tip: Family rooms with the bunk are great but not if they are too young

Our first impression was that the room was funky, with the red and purple room theme. It grew on us because our little girl liked the loft bed and the ladder and it's proximity to Universal Studios Singapore. The buffet had a great selection, and for us rice eaters it had rice. The bathroom was fully equipped and spacious.

The good things :
- Bunk Bed. The reason we chose this hotel and not Hard Rock or Michael nearby was due to the bunk bed they have (for Family Room). My guess was that kids would always be thrilled with having an area dedicated' for them, and the bunk bed area really did give my kids a blast
- The oh so comfy bed. I sleep on a K***** latex bed at home. But the Hotel Festive bed was superior in terms of comfort (maybe the extremely soft linens helped much).
- Reception and Concierge were very hospitable.
- Food was okay and price was reasonable
- Balcony was spacious.

The Not So Good things:
- Pull out sofa and bunk bed area was a bit dusty
- Overall decor was a bit too Asian for my taste -
- Inadequate brightness level
- Lobby was nothing special at all (in terms of a supposedly Fantasy Hotel like this)

First trip to Singapore for a family of four. Spent 5 nights at the Festive Hotel. Room itself was fine, although a bit dark in parts. The decor and layout was interesting from an adult viewpoint but the kids loved it especially the loft bed. Our daughter couldn't wait until it was "her turn" to sleep up there. The ladder is steep though and would be difficult for a child under 4 to use independently. Space in room was limited, but this is not uncommon in Singapore. Good spread of breakfast choices in Fiesta, and staff were friendly. Only minor complaint was the bathroom toiletries. No shampoo provided, just a bottle and pump of "shower gel" which didn't feel nice in the hair. We ended up getting some shampoo from a 7eleven store in the complex. The higher rating is for the resort itself. The Resorts World complex is amazing. The pools outside the Festive hotel were lovely while the proximity to Universal Studios made for a very quick walk there and back. There were a great range of asian and western casual and high end eateries and shops in the complex. Candylicious and the bakery were kid favourites. The resort was buzzing both day and night with plenty to see and do. The area around the "Lake of Dreams" and up and around the Merlion which lights up at night is just beautiful. Be sure to catch a show in the theatre, or "Songs of the Sea" by the water. Truly enjoyable experiences for the family. Getting into the city for shopping was not a problem from Sentosa but we had some difficulty coming back. It seems that many taxis based in the city do not like to take passengers to Sentosa Island after 4pm and we often got the excuse " don't know where Festive Hotel is" which was a bit hard to believe. Ended up just getting into the tax before informing of our destination. This is an issue the hotel should work on with taxi companies and the only downside to our stay at Resorts World which was highly enjoyable.

My hubby & I stayed for 2 nights in May. They gave us a corner room which was good as it was quiet. (No pitter patter footsteps!) The moment we opened the door of our room, we were impressed with the decoration. The wall was a warm red, like tabasco sauce, & there was a huge orchid portrait behind our bed & on the ceiling! It was definitely a wow factor for me. I liked their warm orange lighting placed beside the window which helped to provide a comfy feel to the room. There were 3 windows instead of only 1, so it made the room feel roomier. Not that the room was small. AND AND AND all rooms at the hotel come with a balcony! So we could look out. Not that the view was fantastic anyway... And yes, the room is perfectly sound proof. That means a good night's sleep for a Iight sleeper like me! And I like the fact that I could call & ask for bottled water without additional charge. Plus point! Oh, even when I called housekeeping to borrow a fruit knife-an unusual request, I think- she did not sound shocked. Another good point to mention here is they actually customize the opening greeting on tv for us! So when we switched on the tv, we were greeted with a "Welcome, Mr. xxx". What a warm touch! We have never seen this at other hotels.

I did not liked the fact that its window blind was faulty despite it being a NEW hotel. So I could not roll down the blind at night & lights from the surrounding streamed into my room. The wall in the toilet had numerous black stains. Why didn't the housecleaning staff remove them? Too troublesome? And the right corner of the side table by my bed was chipped too. Isn't this supposed to be a NEW hotel???

We found their room price too expensive. A more reasonable price would be less than $200 per night.

Room Tip: Choose a room at a corner as that is where there are more windows!

This is my 2nd time staying at the integrated resort, my 1st staying at the Festive hotel. After reading the (negative) reviews here, this made me doubt my decision to stay here. However, I am glad that I did not encounter any of the problems relating to check in and check out.

Despite the hotel being fully booked, the reception managed to get us a room slightly before the official check in time. The person in charge also explained to me clearly on the hotel; where is breakfast, how to get to Vivo and of course the pink slip (that most reviewers here commented on). Concierge was kind enough to keep and restore my baggage quickly despite a queue of people.

The room that I booked was a Deluxe Twin that comes with 2 single beds as well as a sofa that can be converted into a bed (good if you have young ones or a 3rd person staying with you). I only have 2 issues in regards to the bathroom and breakfast;

1. Bathroom - shampoo and bath foam is available through a 'communal' dispenser', the sink seems to be stuck - too a long time for the water to go down and an odour that is emitted through the hole where the shower water runs off

2. Breakfast - limited choices, tasted bland and the mee was served hard.

Other than these, the stay was truly enjoyable. I will definitely be back here in the future and perhaps book the suites.
