I was extremely happy with the service and rooms at the Castle Peak. The restaurant was good, the AC and hot water worked and the beds were comfortable. I hope to stay there again.

This is not a very modern hotel.
The room was small, dim lite, not sound proof, and not comfortable..
The bath was not clean an very small..
There where some micro bugs on the table every day..
The restaurant down stairs was too expensive for this venue..
This should be a two star hotel not a three.
But the good news, "the staff was terrific".!

Rooms are small (executive), pounding going on until 9"00 PM and we decided to include breakfast with out stay and that was a mistake. Buffet with most cold, juice watered down and only one small toaster that the bread would not fit into.

My fiance and I booked a standard/superior room which had 2 double beds. Overall, I can say that for the price (1,188 php/night) , it is already a good deal for a 3-star hotel. If you are expecting an elegant and luxurious hotel, then this place is not for you. You get what you pay for - I give this hotel an average rating.

As what you can expect from hotel websites, they always bluff about how strategic the location of the hotel is. DO NOT BELIEVE Castle Peak's hotel official web site about its location claims:
- 15 minutes from the Airport >> NO, it is actually 30-40 mins by taxi (and this is already off-peak hours)
- 5 minutes from the Port / Pier >> NO, it took us 15 mins by taxi to go to Fort San Pedro
- 20 minutes from the nearest Beach >> Really now, which beach is this?
- 2 minutes from the nearest Mall >> ABSOLUTELY NOT, unless your taxi is doing 100kph. It is also NOT walking distance from hotel to Ayala mall (which is the nearest mall). Well, if you consider 15-20 mins walk acceptable - then you should have no problems. But for me, I'd rather take a taxi from the hotel to the mall (should take you 5-10 mins depending on traffic).

GOOD POINTS :
- courteous and friendly staff; one of the male staff even provided us a free map of cebu when we inquired on how to get to a specific resto we came across in our research
- location is near Ayala Mall, I recommend you to take taxi instead of walking
- hotel is well-known by taxi drivers; we never had to mention the address, just the hotel name and driver already knows where to go
- there's cable tv
- hot water comes out of the shower in less than 20 seconds
- lobby security guard very helpful - always offered to help hail taxi cabs for guests
- daily newspaper available in lobby
- housekeeping and utility staff very quick to assist. We called up front desk to have cable TV checked and guy appeared in less than 10 mins. Called up housekeeping around 7am to ask for extra roll of tissue and it was delivered within 10 mins.
- Front desk staff accommodated our request to leave our luggage for 1 day + 1night even if we had already checked out (we had an overnight trip to Bantayan Island)
- Good wifi signal (we were on 5F)

CONCERNS / OTHER FEEDBACK :
- There was a spider in the bathroom upon check-in. Housekeeping should have noticed that right?? (sorry, i really hate spiders)
- Room lighting a bit dim.
- No free water bottles.
- Hotel and room interior is old. If you are familiar with hollywood movies depicting scenes in highway motel rooms, cut down floor area by half, then you get an idea of how Castle Peak hotel room looks like.
- Expect to see/bump into foreigners and their "lady escorts" in this hotel
- Standard/superior room is NOT spacious.
- No safety deposit vault available in the room

I go to Cebu every month and frankly, I would not stay in any other hotel other than the Castle Peak. I have tried other hotels in the past (for a change of scene), but honestly...I always go back to the Castle Peak. Not only are their rates reasonable, but the rooms are immaculately clean, have cable tv, room service, air-cons work without leaking and they have strong water pressure in their hot showers. The staff are amazingly friendly and none more-so than the doormen and the housekeeping staff.

Ayala shopping centre is either a 5-minute walk or a P50 taxi ride away...as is SM shopping mall. Nothing is too far away.

No hesitation in recommending the Castle Peak.

This was the fourth time I have stayed in the Castle Peak hotel and have always found it clean and fantastic value for money. The staff are the friendliest you could find anywhere, this goes from the owner right down to the doorman.
The girls in the restaurant were courteous, always had a smile on their faces and loved to chat, Angel will help out if you have probs with your PC.
I said I would be staying a couple of nights but ended up staying for a week and at no time was asked for a deposit.
The room was very clean, the water warm and air con more than adequite. The laundrette is a 3 minute walk up the road and so cheap but remember to ask them to iron everything.
I stayed in 4 hotels on my visit and this was the only one I would recommend.
Ayala is a ten minute straight walk away or 5 minutes by taxi because of traffic and costs around 40 pesos.
At the airport make sure to insiste on paying by meter, don't let the driver coax you into paying a fixed charge. He wanted 350 pesos, I paid by meter and paid 125. All the way there he kept insisting on a big tip so needless to say he got 125 pesos and not a bean more.
If i return to Cebu I won't stay anwhere else.

Going by some of the reviews on TripAdvisor, we were expecting a reasonable stay. It wasn't pleasant in the least.

Located in the wrong part of town with little or nothing within the walking vicinity to do (and it was also a Sunday, so whatever wasn't [sic] there was, was closed...) this hotel is currently having an extension built onto it. This is a good thing if they intend to demolish the current building, but I suspect it's going to stay. Luckily, after one night we didn't have to.

Getting to the Castle Peak Hotel from the bus station (we arrived from Bacolod via bus and ferry) you immediately get ripped off by the conning taxi drivers who are charging at least Ps 50 over the top. Haggle and you'll still end up paying through the nose, but what can you do? Expect to pay around Ps 100. Begrudgingly.

The hotel is tired, well worn and seedy and the small foyer was busy with people being checked in or milling around doing very little. Perhaps because there is little to do?

On checking in, we were informed that they only had room for one night and after a long day, we took a "standard" room for around Ps 1 100. Reckon on Ps 68 to the GBP (£).

Oh dear, oh dear.

It was reminiscent of a 1970s English B & B, complete with old fashioned décor, outdated furnishings, ghastly, sagging beds (resplendent with nylon bedspreads) and a dilapidated air conditioning unit. I could blow harder than it could and get better results. The wall also sported an impressive mould stain under the unit, which was most attractive and appealing. Not.

The windowless shoebox of a room was hot, musty and had no redeeming features whatsoever. Even the in-room safe was broken and wouldn't function. Warped doors stuck or squeaked with age, cupboard hinges fell off and everything either wobbled or stuck to the floor.

Do we need to describe the bathroom? If you insist, then.

Tiny and cramped. Dirty, mould encrusted tile adhesive on both floor and walls and both hand and bath towels looked ominous. A nasty little scrape of soap, shampoo and toothbrushes concluded the complementaries, but the whole set up was quite ghastly.

The shower was mediocre and the even with the hot water on full with no cold, it was just about warm. The toilet functioned but was stained.

The bedroom did have a TV and cable unit, which offered a large selection of channels (almost 80) but that meant having to stay in the room to watch it. Not an easy choice...

Downstairs you could connect to wi-fi but that only lasted a couple of hours before it gave up the ghost. We took this as a sign and did the same by checking out shortly afterwards.

Foolishly we even tried the restaurant that evening (there aren't too many options outside) and while the food was good, the additional company wasn't. We had a mouse take to the dance floor to laughter from the staff. No one made any effort to deal with the pest and nor the second time when the little rodent did an encore...

We suggest you give this one a miss.
