“GREAT RESORT - FANTASTIC STAFF”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2011

After spending three days at the fantastic Pinjalo Resort on Boracay I feel compelled to write this review. Usually I don't bother as I figure I have paid for the service and that's that!! This time is different - my infant son, my wife, her teenage sister and myself shared the incredibly spacious Deluxe Suite - though relatively expensive for Boracay - it was genuinely like a home away from home. Large bedroom and bathroom on the same level as a beautiful airey living area and dining area with a large round table with six chairs. The spacious well equipped kitchen had everything you'd need - rice cookers, good sized fridge, 4 burner gas stove/oven, and with an infant, the incredibly convenient microwave. Upstairs was a large bedroom and bathroom - like the bedroom downstairs with a split system aircon and cable tv. Breakfast was included in the rate.

Now for the main reason for writing this: As i was about to board my Airphilexpress plane I realised i had left my passport in the inroom safe-sending me into a panic as it would make it a bit difficult to take my flight back to Australia without it. With help from the airline staff a phone call was made and whilst time meant my passport didn't reach me before leaving Caticlan (local airport) it was on the next flight - being delivered to me at Manila airport an hour after landing.
Many thanks to Management and Staff at Pinjalo Resort and it's sister property Calypso Resort for such profesionalism - I am very gratefull.

Whenever we go to the Philippines, Boracay is a MUST for one of our stops. Last time we were there, it was definitely a refreshing break from Hong Kong, Macau & Manila. That was the 3rd time we stayed in Pinjalo. We love the location. Yes, it's not right on White Beach, but it's close enough. Location gives you the best of both worlds of being close to the action & fun of Station 2 (D Mall & the Talipapa) & yet provides you with some seclusion. There is a pool in the facility where my family loves to hang out at in the afternoons. Service of the employees is great as they are quick to repsond & eager to please.
A suggestion would be to get thicker curtains that can block out some of the light as we are on vacation & want to much to sleep in or take a siesta.
Also, they need electric mosquito repellant gadget in the rooms. We do leave the sliding doors open during the day to enjoy the fresh ocean breeze. By twilight when we close the doors, the mosquitos stay :( The facility does provide a mosquito coil that you can burn to get rid of them but would prefer something not so primitive.
Will definitely be back.

Location: great location. Sited midway along a lane from the main road to white beach. Less than 100 metres from the beach front.. About 3 minutes' walk. Close enough to the action on the beach, yet secluded enough to get some peace and quiet. For people who prefer a beach front hotel, try the sister resort - Calypso.

Rooms: clean and spacious. Basic amenities, but adequate for the average traveller. No internet / wifi access in individual rooms. Wifi coverage mainly around the pool, so if your room is near to the pool you might actually get lucky (i had wifi in my room!). The resort should look at expanding their wifi coverage. Curtains did not block out the light very well, so you end up waking prematurely as the sun seems to rise pretty early in Boracay!

Facilities: also has a small (~25m) pool and basic gym. Didn't use either so no comments. The sister resort at Calypso also has diving services (leisure dives and courses) - probably the best dive school on the island in terms of facilities and professionalism.

Service / staff: EXCELLENT! Extremely friendly, always greeting you with wide smiles and melodic pleasantries. The resort even has a night-shift security guard who escorts you to your room with a torch to light your path! Importantly, make prior arrangements with the resort for transfer to/fro caticlan or kalibo. This helps ensure a hassle-free transfer (land-sea-land) from airport to resort (for 600 pesos).

Overall: definitely value for money. Will return again for sure!

We stayed for 7 nights at Pinjalo during our Philippines trip in April 11 just before easter weekend. We enjoyed the hotel very much, especally as you can also use the facilities at calypso diving hotel with its beachfront bar.
The hotel is about 2 min walking from the beach, so you do not have ocean view. However, thanks to that it is in a very calm area and one can sleep. The gardens of the hotels are beautiful and there is pool, which we never used as we usually stayed at the beach.
There is second (diving) hotel just at the beach with another pool. The restaurant and the bar are also located at the calypso. Breakfast is served in the restaurant here. The breakfast was a rich buffet (asian style with rice and noodels but also western style with bread, eggs, bacon, etc).
Service is very good (there are lots of servants, so it actually has to be good).
We had twice the mongolian buffet for dinner, which is all you can eat and good food.
They have free wifi at Pinjalo as well as at Calypso.

We were also diving with Calypso. They have several western and Philippine divemaster / instructors and new equipment at a fair price (around USD 40 per dive).

Overall we really enjoyed staying at Pinjalo / Calypso and would certainly visit again, when coming back to Boracay.

Just 2 minutes from the nicest part of the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are very clean. Value for money is very good. Outside terrace in tropical garden is very pleasant and quiet. One of the biggest shower places I ever had :D Also feels very safe

There are things to improve but these are not so important due to the overall pleasant impression:
- Wifi only at pool area and gym (which are closed around 10pm. This could be changed easiy.
- Breakfast is solala but did not find really good once at Boracay (may be exception would be Shangri-La and similar)

Room Tip: Quiet, safe, very friendly, clean, nice rooms

I have stayed 5 nights at the Calypso Resort in Boracay. The property is located directly on the beach, not so the affiliated property Pinjalo which is around 2 blocks from the beach.
The room was very spacious, the shower was huge and I didn't have any problems with the hot water as other reviews mention. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff in all ways very helpful and kind. The Calypso lounge is very beautiful.
The location is fine. Located at the end of boat station 2 (close to boat station 3), there are many restaurants and bars around. At night times (from midnight on), it is very quiet, you don't hear any music. However, if you look out for a long crazy party night, the only really place was the "Summer Place" which is at the beginning of boat station 2 - so approx. 8 minutes to walk from the Calypso Resort. Thank you again for the lovely stay, especially the so friendly lounge bar staff Rose and Janeline!

I found this place after roughing it in a cheapo inn in Boat Station 3. I bargained and got a standard room for 2,000 pesos a night in low season. The room I got was immaculate though it had no view but it was comfortable and had a patio. I don't think it would've been worth the 3,000 pesos on the rates list, but I did have a nice stay.

A problem occurred on my final night. The water in the bathroom wouldn't work so I got transferred to another standard that was, in my opinion, a lower version of the room I had. I didn't want to raise a fuss since it was my final night but oh well.
