“Decent hotel”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

The hotel is located in station 2 and a short walk to the beach. The road to the beach is kind of shady with power lines hanging right above you. We booked the room as package with flight tickets so the price was quite reasonable. The hotel has a decent swimming pool and it was not so crowded. We did not have dinner there but breakfast was so so. The front desk was quite friendly and helpful. Like most Asian hotels close to the beach, the isolation cold have been better.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted with welcome drinks. The staff was friendly and helpful all along. The room was big and clean. It was facing the inside courtyard with a view of the pool. The breakfast had a good selection of food but could be better. I didn't have much to complain for the price I paid. I decided to stay at this hotel based on TripAdvisor's reviews, and they were fair.

I recently traveled on vacation to the Philippines with a few of my girlfriends. Our flight was about three hours late and surprisingly, a representative from the hotel was still waiting for us when we arrived. He took us to the dock to catch a boat and then to our hotel once we disembarked. The area that we viewed upon approaching the hotel is a bit sketch so naturally we were a little worried. Needless to say, we worried for no reason at all.

The hotel was perfect! There's a guard standing outsideat all times. The beach is around the corner and down the street. It's close enough to the beach to walk but far enough away from the ocean to protect you against typhoons, etc. The detriment was that when it did rain, the side street flooded heavily! But in that case, we just took a motorized bike down the street for 60 pesos or 20 cents. From Bhelenda and Joy at the front desk to the waiters in the restaurant, the staff was both helpful and pleasant. Additionally, there's a salon and a spa on the property. Unfortunately, my friends and I didn't have a good experience at either place. We're still very sore from our massages one week later. And my nails and toes hurt from the cuticles being pushed back too far. I'm hopeful that management at the hotel will pass this along so that the workers will know to be gentler.

Upon entering the six bedroom dormitory style accommodation, we were instantly impressed. In our minds, the room was going to resemble that of a hostel. It didn't! The bunk beds were built-in, sturdy, wooden, and provided each of us with more than enough individual space. The best part was that my bunk mate could climb down from the top bunk without disturbing me. There was a large space in the middle of the room that we designated as our dance floor. =) We even had a balcony with an interesting view of local residences and a small body of water. Unfortunately, the stagnant water located beneath the balcony caused us to have to slaughter about six mosquitoes a day. But nothing bug spray and quick reflexes can't fix! =) Also, there was a problem with the toilet in that it didn't always flush. Again, this is an easy fix. Just call a plumber.

I highly recommend this place to those looking to have a group getaway. Don't even hesitate to book it. JUST DO IT!

Room Tip: The six bedroom dormitory is a MUST!

what we like about this hotel/resort: 1.They offer good packages - cheap and with lots of perks; 2. the place is secluded and with solemn ambiance in which you can really relax and just 5 mins walk going to the beach front; 3. the staff are very friendly, courteous and accommodating; 4. Food served in the resto are delicious; 5. rooms are nice, clean and spacious. i will definitely recommend this hotel to my other friends who are planning to go on vacation at Boracay.

My family were very disappointed with this hotel. Although I have stayed in worse places in Boracay I think we expected something a bit nicer. The room was a bit worn down, furniture chipped and the bedding had stains. The sliding balcony doors didn't close properly, the sink leaked onto the bathroom floor and the room was dirty. The bathroom was mouldy, the wardrobe full of hairs and dead insects and under the glass on the desk was everything from a watermelon seed, hair clip and a finger nail. There was a vase with a few shells in it which was full of dead insects floating in a few inches of water. The air con was awful. It was an old window type which was noisy. And due to the lack of proper ventilation the room was always damp and all our clothes were too. We all woke covered in bites and the spare pillows in the wardrobe had clearly not been changed and stank. When we tried talking to the staff we soon realised that we were wasting our time. The front of house staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The rest of the staff seemed unmotivated and nobody made an effort. At no time during our week stay and despite several complaints did we ever see a manager which in my opinion is why things were the way they were. Breakfast was no better with the staff either untrained, under managed or just not bothered. Nobody shows you to a table. Nobody asks you if you would like tea or coffee. If you sit at the pool area nobody offered you a drink or towels. After a while you get the feeling that they just don't care although I think it is more likely that they are just not managed.

The kids playroom was terrible. No sign of the TV or Wii just a few broken toys and some horrible old mats. We only took our son in once only to find it was swarming with mosquitoes.

The location is pretty rubbish too. Some other reviews have mentioned the short walk to the beach. But nobody seems to point out that it is by no means a pleasant walk as the road (not path) is busy, all broken up and when it rains it is a nightmare.

My barkada stayed here for our summer trip last April 2012. It didn't matter if it weren't beach front, we loved that it was secluded and has its own tropics vibe.

What I (we) liked about this hotel/resort:

1. The spacious room. We're a group of six and still the room is big enough for us. The dorm type room is perfect because each of us has our own nook. No need to share beds. Plus, we're treated to three or four pillows each! (As compared to other hotels providing just one pillow per person.)
2. The pool. Just perfect for unwinding after a long day of being at the beach.
3. The food. My friends are very critical when it comes to food, that's why I'm so glad that they gave the hotel breakfast thumbs up. They enjoyed the food so much that we had lunch there twice.
4. The staff and service. When traveling with a group expect sudden changes/cancellations, thank goodness, the AE who handled our reservation was kind and patient in assisting us. The hotel front desk and crew were commendable too, they even helped us plan our activities.

What could be improved:
1. The bathroom - Although it's spacious and looks newly-designed, we really recommend that they put a water stopper/division between the shower and toilet because the entire bathroom gets flooded after use.

Everyone has their unique experience when staying in a resort/hotel. For us, our stay at Boracay Tropics was indeed worthwhile. Days after we left Boracay, my friends kept telling me how much they miss the room, the pool and the food.

Although the hotel is not on the beach, we were unsure if we had made the right choice. We were not disappointed. Nice gardens and pool, and good friendly staff. Breakfast was varied and they even asked what we liked at home to try and please. The rooms are clean and modern, aircon worked well. A well priced accommodation.
