“a wonderful family run restaurant”
Reviewed February 5, 2014

We are a family with two little boys. We were recommended Paupatri by some guests of the hotel where we are staying. Well, thank you guys as we had wonderful dinner last night in a very relaxing atmosphere. People might have hard time finding it as it is hidden in a narrow path nearby Boracay Hospital, but do not give up as it worth it the visit. The open kitchen gives you the feeling of a nice and clean restaurant, same as the fact that you have to remove your shoes before going inside; it is like being guests of a big local family. Food is great and we were surprised that even the french fries were cut by hand. So fresh and yummy. All the ingredients are fresh and for sure the owners love to take care of their guests. Definitely a MUST GO!

“A must visit! ”
Reviewed January 22, 2014 via mobile

First of all, the location on the map is totally wrong! We spent 45 minutes searching before someone could tell us where it is. It's about 1 km down the beach in station 2, near tirol road. Right after Deparis sign you take left up in the small alley for maybe 150 meters, then to left, there’s a small sign (see my pics). Or from main road you go left after clinic.

Now to the review! As i said, when we come there it was too late cause kitchen just closed. Guess we looked very disappointed cause owner run up and they opened the kitchen again only for us! Now THAT'S what i call service!

We left our shoes and thread into one of the most beautiful places i have ever seen, the woodworking is amazing, and the place is so cozy and calm with the bamboo windwoods.

We sat down and got a professional guidance through the specialities of the menu from which we ordered native chicken (which they informed would take about 40 mins to prepare), summer sallad, rice and hummus with bread (while waiting). Kids had shakes and i shared a Chianti Classico with fiance.

The starters was clearly above Filipino standard, the chicken was cooked a bit over, but all in all we were pleased with food and drinks.

Now to the verdict!
If it was only for the food this would be a 3 to 4 for us, but you have to realise it's so much more to dining (or you missed something). You are actually paying for an EXPERIENCE and this place just screems out to be experienced! It's stunningly beautiful, the service is exclusive on the edge of perfect and the satisfaction of having had something unique is strong.
We certainly had better food on restaurants, but most of them i honestly don't remember. This place we will remember for ever, and in my world that is worth every pesos we paid!

Pros: Stunning environment, fault free service, tasty food.

Cons: Hard to find, a bit pricey (in Filipino standards, i found it cheap though)

Will we come back? Absolutely as soon as we visit Boracay again :-)

“Fantastic in every way!”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

This restaurant is owned by a husband and wife. He's the chef and she works on the front-end.

In a word: wow. I found Paupatri here on Tripadvisor and decided we should give it a shot. It only had 4 reviews at the time, but all were very good so we went for it. We stayed at Boracay Garden Resort and the restaurant was a short walk down the main road (5ish minutes door-to-door). If you don't know where you're going it's easy to miss because it's not on the main road. You have to walk down an alley that is just past the hospital/clinic. Do NOT be put off by the walk down the alley (see the pic I posted). It looks sketchy, but is totally safe. No worries. At the end of the alley there is a massage parlor and you'll see a sign pointing right for the restaurant. There is a worker standing at a little kiosk to direct you in.

You will be amazed just at the entrance to the restaurant. See the pictures above just to get an idea. A long, wood walkway leads into the restaurant (you have to take your shoes off but that just adds to the experience). The woodwork is absolutely amazing and it's worth going just to admire the architecture.

They seated us in a gazebo thingy with a large round table that required us to sit on the floor. No worries, cushions provided. The table could have easily seated 8 or more people and the center of the table is a large lazy Susan which comes in handy for making it able to get your food without having to get up and down or lean way over.

The setting of the restaurant is amazing. The restaurants sits a few feet above the ground and all around are manicured grounds. We couldn't see so well because it was night, but it looked lovely. Not sure about the previous review that said it's on a pond. We didn't see any water anywhere and bugs were not a problem at all. Let's be honest, the buzz of White Beach is fun but it's nice to get a break. We enjoyed the hustle and bustle on the White Beach path but needed some time away from the crowds, touts etc. This was the perfect solution. You almost forget you're in a crowded tourist area. The sounds of the beach and main road melt away in this beautiful tranquil atmosphere. With the delicious food and serene setting, we took our time and enjoyed every last second of our time.

The wait staff was extraordinary! Just the best. The wife seated us and gave us our menus and other wait staff brought us water very quickly. They checked on us frequently but we never felt hassled or pressured.

The menu looked incredible and we had difficulty choosing just what we wanted. We got the spring rolls appetizer and it was HUGE (see the picture). I think there 10 of them. For our meal my wife got a fish that was wonderfully prepared...stuffed with lemongrass, onions, tomatoes and other goodies. I had the beef steak, which also had lemongrass and some other additions. For sides we had roasted potatoes and glass noodles. All the portions were HUGE and the food was out of this world. Not a typical restaurant with huge portions of mediocre food or tiny portions of great food. The fish and beef steak were priced according to the grams we got. We just went with the suggestion of the wife. The food came pretty quickly, though not too fast.

Because of the atmosphere and setting we just took our time and enjoyed every last bite (almost) we were served. No matter how full I was, every single bit was delicious.

Upon requesting our check, the waiter stood by our table while I got the money out of my wallet. However, he turned aside so he wasn't watching me or looking over my shoulder and I didn't feel pressured or awkward that he was looking at my money. Very nice touch.

After we paid, we got ready to leave and got to meet the husband and had a very nice with chat with him and his wife for several minutes. Such friendly people. Before leaving we got a group picture with all the staff.

No matter what you do, you MUST make this a stop while on Boracay. You can't possibly be disappointed with the food, service, setting or atmosphere. Suffice it to say, it was far and away the best meal we had.

We know the owners for a long time, when they still had their place at the beachfront. We always loved the food there and were looking for them, as they were no here anmore. Now we are ver happy, that they are back .... same menue, same quality, but a much more beautiful place. A little bit hard to find, but definitely worth the effort to look for it. We had dinner there.... No problem with mosquitoes.... Don't worry to much about that. You will love the place!

“Good food in an excellent environment...!!”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

Wow wow wow.... I was speak less the moment I entered the property - garden/entrance... Could never imagine would find such a nice place in Boracay... It was sooooo different as the 'regular' restaurants you find along white beach area. It was in 1 word... Beautiful and 1 in nature... Don't know how to describe it... But definitely worth to go there... Can highly recommend this place for both bussiness - as leisure lunch/dinner. Went here for lunch, which was excellent... But I think, location wise, it's not advisable to go there for dinner... As there may be Mosquitos all over... Due to the water and vegetation around the property..!?!
