Starter came out cold, main came out wrong then when it did come out it was like eating a bowl of grease. 30% charge added to bill. Not good.

“Great food!”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

We enjoyed some fantastic meals at Mesa. The Filipino cuisine is phenomenal, especially the Lapu-Lapu. A great place to sit on the sidewalk and eat and watch passers-by.

“Just met the level”

This place has an extensive menu of local food, seafood and meats. Service is okay. Food was presented nicely, quite tasty. We had the seasame beef and pork belly.

“Pretty poor”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

Got there and sat outside: looks great from the outside, which combined with the appeal of modern filipino food lured us in.

Service was lacking from start to finish, with waiters trying to rush off before they had finished their sentences and before we had ordered a complete meal.

We went with the duck adobo, scallop starter and a bowl of rice each. I ordered a kalamansi shake.

The scallops arrived before our drinks, and were all right tasting except they also featured little bits of shiny tin foil that had been pulled off too quickly and left unnoticed by the staff. The kalamansi shake then arrived - which I soon discovered was really the highlight of the meal: really great stuff.

The duck adobo was OK: it was literally half a duck in adobo sauce, which made it a little difficult to eat, but we got over that. It was tasty enough. What really upset me was the quality of the rice. How can somewhere in Asia get rice so wrong? It was cold in places, hard and lumpy. So much so that we barely touched it. We might have said something, but with the service we had received before we felt it was not really worth it. You'd think they would have noticed at some point but no. We sat there for about 20 minutes after the meal with no one clearing our plates away or asking us if our meal was OK/wanted desert or anything. Fair enough.

Price of the meal didn't include VAT, which although we knew when we went in, always makes me feel a bit suspicious about a restaurant. Combined with the poor service, cold and lumpy rice and the pieces of tin foil on our dish, it all just made for a rather poor experience.

“Good food.”
Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

The crispchon was superb! Also try the tofu with shrimp and century egg. The place was nice and comfy. Service was good, servers were attentive. The sad thing was that the kare-kare's meat was ao little. But overall the food was good.
