“Will stay here again and again...!”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

This would be our 2nd visit to Boracay and both times we stayed at Fridays. We stayed for a week from 10th Aug.
I fell in love with it the first time and I'm still a fan the 2nd time.
Yes, it isn't a Shangri-la, but as others have mentioned before, they are not trying to be. If you like native feel with your accomodation, Fridays is defenitely it. If luxury is what you are after, stay at Shangri-la.

Fridays has the best location on the beach and the best sand. Staff were most helpful and friendly, especially Jojo.

Re activities, we had Jay as our guide and I must say, he did get us good deals for the activities. For example, P500 for reef walking (compared to P900 that we paid last year!) We also paid less on parasail and ATV. Note to tourists, do haggle otherwise, you will pay more than necessary.

As we were tempted to stay at Shangri-la this time round, we dined there just to see what it's about. Yes, it is grand and beautiful. As the resort is newly built, the building is in very good condition, as one would expect. It has a small private beach section. There isn't a direct access from Shangri-la to the White beach. One would have to take the shuttle service to D'mall and walk from there. We didn't stay there for this reason alone. I prefer to have access to the 4k of white sandy beach. However if you have young children, it's worth considering as they have great facilities for young kids.

Room Tip: Stay in the Premier room. it's a stone throw away to the beach.

My parents and sister stayed at Friday's in early July. We received free transfers as part of the package which were fantastic, we were met at the airport and taken in a private car to catch the boat. As soon as we arrived we were upgraded and taken straight to our rooms without having to go to reception first and do the admin until we were ready. I've travelled to many places and this was the first time this has happened, I thought it added a great touch and first impression. I loved the style of the huts, although the rooms are dated, but I believe they're due to be refurbished soon. The rooms at the bottom have apparently been refurbished already. The breakfasts were included as part of the package too and varied everyday. We spent most of our week eating in the restaurant for dinner, their indian curries were fantastic and addictive. The beach is amazing and on a quiet strip, and the beauticians were great and offered amazing massages and pedicures. If you have any issues at the resort talk to Rogier, (we were slightly put out by non hotel guests constantly coming up to the Fridays sign on the resort to take pictures) he was fantastic in rectifying the situation, and they've now moved the sign back onto the main beach so you can relax in peace. Attentive management is important as it can sometimes make your holiday. So much so that I'll be visiting again in October. Improvements would be to have more variety of cost on the wine menu as it was pricey, and to have some gym facilities as there wasn't any.

My husband, our 2 year old toddler and I stayed at Friday's earlier this year (March 2012) for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay.

The beach is gorgeous - the sand white and the water clear and blue. We have been to a fair few beaches around the world (we like our sand and sun!) and this would rate as one of the top spots we've been to. We could not get enough of it although unfortunately we had one day of bad weather and on a short getaway that was a bummer - beyond Friday's control no doubt.

Friday's is not on a busy stretch and although you have people walking along the beach, it is still a peaceful, quiet corner with the Mall an easy walk away. We did not venture too far as we were happy to frolic around the water and so we stayed close to home.

Breakfast was huge and tasty, I couldn't always finish what was on my plate. We ate all our meals at the in-house restaurant and we enjoyed the food at each meal. I was surprised to read an earlier review that did not think the food good, I can only guess that perhaps it is not the same chef?

Friday's does a happy hour with very affordable drinks. Be careful though, some of those colourful cocktails can pack a punch!

The staff and management was always smiling and helpful, even watching out for our son who was running around the sand. We did not require much but if we did, they were on hand.

The rooms and actually, the whole resort is a little dated and worn. If you prefer and are looking for a plush, 5-star establishment to kick up your heels, this is not it. The room was large, fitting a double bed, a cot and a smaller sitting area while still leaving plenty of space. The bathroom was basic with the usual toiletries but not anything fancy in the least. We stayed in a lower hut which was completely fine except that because of the wooden flooring, we could hear our neighbours above when they were moving about and sometimes at odd hours, that would interrupt our son while he was asleep.

The pool is small and not really inviting (we never saw anyone using it during our 3 days) but with that sort of beach a few steps away, who looks at the pool twice anyway?

I would say that the beach is Friday's biggest pull factor. The service is of course an added plus and we found the food good and reasonably priced. However, if we were to go back to Boracay (and we plan to!), we would try something a little different and pay a little more. Perhaps the neighbour next door.

Still, not at all a poor choice, go enjoy the powdery white sand!

We stayed from 15 - 23rd July. We found the location fabulous and the room was great for a family. They managed to fit a queen bed and 3 single beds in the room with space to spare. It was low season and did rain for 4 of our days there, a kids club would have been great. They have a room with pool table and toys but it was very run down. Whilst the breakfast was very generous and delicious, the food went downhill from there. Salads that were mostly iceberg lettuce with a few dry bits of chicken, a walnut salad that arrived without walnuts (they had run out), curries that were mediocre and a children's menu that was very limited beyond fried food and pizza. Kebabs ordered for lunch on Saturday were dry and inedible and quite obviously the same as those on the buffet the night before. For a long weekend, the food would have been fine but as we stayed for a week we were very keen to eat elsewhere by the third day. We found a fabulous boutique hotel/restaurant called Ambassador, two doors down that offered amazing food, amazing service at similar prices. ( I heard a rumour the chef there worked at Fridays previously). At Fridays, the wine list was mediocre and rudely expensive. The same bottle of white wine at Ambassador was less than half the price of Fridays. In fact with a ridiculously expensive corkage charge at Fridays it was still cheaper to buy the wine at Ambassador and bring it back! The service staff did their best and always with a smile but it seems there is a lack of direction and leadership from management in the F&B department. A shame that I have not felt I can recommend Fridays to others. It was not a value for money holiday.

Just returned from six wonderful days in Boracay. Friday's is the perfect Beach Resort situated right on a fine white sand beach. We were very fortunate to be upgraded to a large Suite at the top of the resort. The space was unbelievable and greatly appreciated with two children. The en-suite was bigger than some European hotel rooms we've stayed in. The beach is groomed each day and the water clear and the perfect temperature. After landing at Caticlan we were met by a hotel representative who drove us to a private boat and then drove us to the hotel. Our check-in was done in our suite and welcome drinks provided. Staff were great, everyone of them was friendly and service orientated special mentions go to Ricardo (who raced our son to safety when a sudden storm front hit the beach and also provided service with a smile), Erwin (great service always) and JoJo (full of information and arranged a great snorkelling trip). The breakfasts were delicious as were their buffet dinners. Loved their local dishes too, especially Adobo Chicken. Friday's have their own cultural and fire dance show which is performed three times a week - fabulous to watch. The location of Friday's is perfect far enough away from the crowds to be peaceful - security does a great job of keeping a watchful eye on the beach touts whilst still allowing interaction with them if you want. Walking to other restaurants or the local Mall is easily done via the beach. Our children 10 and 12 did this 25 minute walk several times without complaint. They played in the water, chasing fish and crabs as they went. We had a great relaxing holiday and loved every minute even the storm was fun once we were off the beach. We found the price of food and beverage was very good value for money and ate at the resort for most meals. On a side note this hotel is not a Shangri la (nor does it claim to be) some of the facilities are a little dated and in need of a some TLC. However, that said if you want a relaxing holiday, great food and service, right on the beach this is the resort for you. Thank you Friday's, we had a wonderful holiday.

My fiance and I decided to stay here because of its authentic Boracay beach ambiance (and underwent renovations too)--really an excellent white sand experience! They also have good transport service freeing you from all the hassle of going about with the island's fees etc. They have their own beach front which was immaculately clean and far more peaceful than the rest of the more commercialized station one resorts. You can literally walk your way on the sand to the beach as you go out of your 5-star quality room( and they are spacious compared to a regular fancy hotel room you'll pay for). They have their own cultural show (with their own fire dancers) and the food was delicious. There are cabanas and sitting areas perfect for relaxations--and yes, available cold water, and towels to be handed by a very friendly staff. Adventure choices are also easily arranged there. The peace and serenity here is so inviting you'd wish you can stay there for more! And yes, perfect for couples ! I will definitely recommend this place!

We were referred by a friend who frequents Boracay often and always stays at Fridays...everything we were told stayed true! From the moment we landed at Caticlan we were taken care of. Fridays arranged an escort that picked us up from airport, drove us to a private boat, and then drove us to the hotel where the same gentlemen brought our luggage up to the room. All the while giving us information about the island. It was a great start. We were extremely lucky throughout the whole trip as we only had 2 days of rain out 10 in June....which from what I understand is close to a miracle! We went out and explored Boracay to its fullest, but we still spent a majority of the time at the hotel. They have a wonderful location on the far quiet end of white beach. This is very important as White Beach can become very crowded. The staff services the beach with drinks and food throughout the day. At the beginning I found myself having to chase down the waiters to order, but after talking to management and throwing a few pesos they would have me a new San Mig light as I was taking my last sip! The secuirty guards also do a great job keeping the vendors away from you to enjoy peace and quiet. The restararaunt bar area was going under renovations while we were there, which was a bummer. But that didn't stop Fridays from setting up some temporary seating on the beach and serving some of the best food I've eaten abroad. From American, Italian, or Filipino cuisine they had it all and it was fantastic. We didn't have a bad meal there. Be careful when ordering wine, because it is a secluded island they have a limited selection and it's pricey. Be sure to ask staff where the closest wine/liquor store is and they will allow you to bring your own for a small corking fee. (I think we got ours ffrom a store at D'Mall) The ladies down at the massage area at Fridays were great. They provided great massages each time we visited and it was in a hut right on the beach... We stayed on one of the top floors "suites" which we LOVED. it got tiring walking up the stairs, but it was well worth it each time we got up there. It had amazing views and the rooms were extremely spacey and well maintained. Overall the our stay was fantastic. I honestly can't think of one thing I disliked about this hotel. I would reccommend it to friends of all ages...single..married...family...doesn't matter!

Room Tip: We really likes the 2nd floor suites...but I heard the room closest to the beach is the best one to...
