Before going to Boracay, we had already done some survey as where to eat and what to eat. We came across this local dessert called halo-halo. So when we arrived at Boracay, immediately we went to D’Mall to look for it. To our disappointment, we were unable to find it. Well, we didn’t give up hope. The next day, after coming back from our island hopping trip, we went there again. Yes, we were truly delighted to find it in this Mang Inasar Restaurant. This restaurant is not selling dessert alone. They have other Filipino food such as pansit as well as fried chicken with rice. I reckon this is a local franchise restaurant as I could find in D’Talipapa as well as in Kalibo town.
We ordered pansit, which is noodles in tagalog and also fried chicken rice and of course halo-halo. We were here mainly because of this dessert! I particularly like the halo-halo which is a dessert served with mixed fruits shaved ice with evaporated milk and ice cream topping. Ingredients include kidney beans, sugar palm fruit, jack fruits, mango, jelly, sweet potato and yam. I like this dessert as it not so sweet and the ice is smooth and fine. It’s really a good mixture of ingredients, suitable to all young and old!
The pansit is just ordinary like any noodles you can find anywhere but glad to find that it’s not salty.
The fried chicken is crispy and not oily. It is just nice to go down with the rice served.
All in all, if you are in Boracay, you must try the halo-halo, you won’t regret it if you savour desserts!

It was our first full day on the island after having arrived pretty late the night before. We were starving and we were wandering D'Mall area looking for something to eat at we recognized. Mang Inasal is one of those places in the Philippines which is always reliable when looking for cheap eats and decent food at that.

We found the place and just in time as it was filling quickly. We sent the clan upstairs and began ordering. From what we can tell the food choices are pretty much the same but the prices are about 20-30 higher than other parts of the PI. Still far cheaper than many of the restos in the area.

As we paid the bill we noted they were doing everything manually and we were never given a receipt which is highly unusual in the Philippines.

We were fortunate enough to find a large table upstairs in a room which was not very large and crammed with tables and chairs. It was not conducive to an enjoyable dining experience. It was certainly something an optimistic person might describe as "festive"

We received everything we ordered and as usual it was as tasty as it usually is. No one was disappointed as far as the food was concerned. The cleanliness of the tables in the upstairs was suspect as there was such a high rotation of people it did not seem like much quality table cleaning was taking place.

There is a wash basin to clean up after eating your chicken but the electric hand dryer was broken at the time. It was awkward washing your hands as you are inches away from another diner in this cramped space.

This location is always busy. There is always a crowd. Consider getting your food to go and eating elsewhere.
