“Nice Escape”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

It is what it is, a great budget stay that is a nice get-a-way from the hustle and bustle of white beach. If your a boarder (which I'm not) it's close to the kite action; which was a beach we found just as enjoyable as white beach, it's got a different vibe and so does the Blue Bayou. For most people coming to Boracay this place is not the type of stay their looking for. But if you’re the type who enjoys the simple pleasures of life this is the place for you. White hanging orchids greet you at the entrance and I'm actually someone who enjoys the sound of crowing roosters, but that’s me. Rooms are clean, but basic; we stayed in a fan only room and were always comfortable. Staff was great, breakfast was wonderful, I recommend the pancakes, I found them to be a great way to start your day. There's also a small street side bamboo bar close by called Pow's, great burgers, great people.

The peaceful ambience of this place is only broken from the poolside voices next door and the bikes that go by...and yes the road was being dug up for sewage works so a little messy getting to Bulabog Beach and tricky at night if you were drinking out at Levatin’s as the tide is high so get ready to get your feet wet. I missed the overnight downpour so got some nice weather. There are mosquitoes but Hans the host will be happy to give you lotion and good advice as to where to go and what to do. Diane who came into town a little later is a pleasant hostess and perfect conversationalist and would have loved to have spent more lazy hours in their airy lounge with them their dog Curry and sundry cats. The breakfast begins at 7 am and goes thru the day (thats a first for me) with seven options. A good place for anyone who isn’t too fussy about luxury and five star ambience. It is pleasant and well located and travellers will find it great after a day on Bulabog or a night on the White Beach to get to either walking or by tricycles.Plenty of eating spots close by including one that specialises in porridge since there is no Lunch (free or otherwise) or Dinner served here. Happy Home and Levantins were good places to chill while watching kiteboarding! I enjoy places where the hosts are good and these guys are truly nice people!

Room Tip: A good idea to be away from the road and maybe the side that shares a wall with the next door resort...

This Guesthouse has a really nice atmosphere and the position is quite good just in between of the two most famous beaches in Boracay. The rooms are enough clean and the staff in really kind and friendly. Anyway this guesthouse is a bit too pricey for what you get...

Apartments basic, service limited, mess up with transfers, don't bother. There are plenty of other places in Boracay for the same price and much better location and deserved services. This is a cramped shady and moldy compound on a side street that leads to Bullabug (a beach that you cannot use other then 4 kite surfing)

We were staying at Blue Bayou for 1 week in Dec 2012 and can't say something bad about this place.
It's located close to Bulabog, the way to White Beach takes about 10 minutes. I really don't think it's disadvantage because: the place is very silent, whereas around White beach is too crowdy and loud, very nice road to the beach beside the school and local houses.
In Blue Bayou you really feel the soul of tropical island - the territory is tiny and green, "recepcion" - summer house, bungalows with "straw" roof.
Staff is exclusively lovely. Girls, owners, night security, cooker sincrecily friendly. Really want to thanks to the cooker for perfect breakfast, I miss her Veggie omelet.
Bungalows are very spacious - living room at the first floor, bedroom upstairs, the interior is very simple and nice. Please be aware that Boracay's cocks don't sleep at night, you'll hear it!
I would highly recommended this place for people who want to feel local life.
You can book huge and superb hotel everywhere in the world, but only bungalows like Blue Bayou make you feel that you have traveled halfway around the world to reach this small beautiful island in the middle of Phillipines!

Stayed here for four nights. Situated in Zone 5 in Boracay on a quiet street, about a 10 minute walk from the D-Mall. That might not seem too bad, but it feels so far from the main part of Boracay that we come for. Tricycles are cheap but they get tiresome as well. It is located near a beach but fails miserably compared to the beauty of the beach on the other side of the island. Oh, and get used to the sound of rooster crows. There is a 24 hour grocery store at the top of the road and a few fast food stalls that never closed.

As for the rooms, very basic. Bed was stiff, I do not miss that mattress. No air conditioning, just a fan. Wi-fi signal should reach all bungalows as mine was one of the farthest from the lobby hut, but connection was intermittent. TV had a good selection of channels but was very small and probably 20 years old. Bathrooms were clean with heated showerheads.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, a common practice of Filipinos. Breakfast was free and delicious. Restaurant was not open for lunch or dinner while I stayed.

This place has its ups and downs, seems like you could get a similar guesthouse at a similar price closer to the heart of Boracay so that's what I'd recommend.

Room Tip: If you are going to use wi-fi a lot in your room, request a bungalow close to the lobby

Excellent service and owners are friendly. Great value and would stay here again. Quiet, clean and within easy walking distance to white beach. Breakfast is superb!

The owners will make you feel at home. The owners' hospitality is priceless!
