“peaceful but inconvenient”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

I enjoyed the quietness and view the hotel's location brings as it is situated on a hill top. The view is just breathtaking. The only drawback is that you need to travel half an hour to get to the white beach which i find inconvenient. The breakfast menu is limited but the food tasted good. I really didn't like the design of the rooms and the beds need to be upgraded. The infinity pool was ok and a bit small. If peace and tranquility are what you look for while in Boracay then this is the hotel to be.

The service was wonderful. Before move to this hotel, we stayed in Station 2, as I saw the hotel offer airport pickup, so I trid to write email for a private pickup from the last hotel, yes they offered the free pickup. When wearived, the staffs offered us the welcome drinks and a shell necklace.

Our room was 217#, in the end of the corridor, there are 2 side ocean views, just like which post on the agoda photo. Room is not big but clean, the balconies are enough for stand one person, not enough to put a chair :) the only disadvantage is the aircondition was too loudly, if you are a person who can not fall asleep with any noise, so you have to consider about it. The electricity was not stayble, was chut down once everynight, we were wake up by because of the aircondition shut down.

Rests all fine, hotel has car to d-mall every hour, 15mins distance by car. if you stay less then one week inboracay, suggest you to leave on the beach only. there's nothing on the mountain.

Me and my fiance stayed in this hotel and i can certify that this is one of the best hotel in town. Beautiful over looking from our room, clean and nice room, amazing food, polite receptionist and staff and a breath taking view of the whole island.. What more can we ask for? It's all about holiday and relaxing and that is what exactly they gave us.. We will definitely stay in Hotel Soffia again when we have the chance to go back in Boracay..

My 3 kids requested for a 'last summer hurrah' before they go back to school. And what would be the best way to end summer? Boracay, of course!

We took an afternoon flight and since we'll get there on the island at around 7pm, I decided to get a cheap hotel for us to sleep in and just transfer in the next few days of our stay. Agoda advertised Hotel Soffia as 'highly recommended' at a very cheap rate, so I reserved us a room for our first night.

Upon arrival at the jetty port in Cagdan, I thought there will be a shuttle waiting for us already. Alas, there was none! So I called up the hotel and informed them that we've arrived at the port & we're actually waiting for a van from them (as per e-mail communication, days before that). When we were told that it would take them 30 mins to pick us up, my husband decided to just take a tricycle.

The driver informed us that the hotel is on a steep location so he had us (2 adults, 1 teenage son, & 2 girls) and our luggages arranged accordingly so his tricycle will be balanced upon engaging the road to Soffia. It only took us 10 minutes to get to the steep dirt road. Unfortunately, the tricycle was not able to take us all up to the hotel so the driver carried most of the luggages as we all walked our way up to the hotel. Phew! It was tiring, indeed. At the lobby tho', we were given iced tea for welcome drinks and some shell leis.

We were ushered to a very beautiful, clean room (huge king sized bed and a sofa bed). The bathroom was also big and had a tub and a separate shower area. Had a simple dinner at their resto and off to bed we went.

The following morning, we caught a great view of the surroundings as we were atop a hill. The swimming pool was clean & inviting but the kids wanted to go to the beach, so off we go. There was a shuttle that takes the guests to D'Mall every 30 mins, so after b'fast we all went to the beach. We checked out at 12 noon and transferred to another hotel in Station 2.

I asked the kids if they liked Hotel Soffia, they all said yes if only for sleeping purposes. It was really FAR from the beach which they have come to love so much. But for some adults like me and my hubby, the hotel is a better option if you want to be AWAY from all the noise & crowd of Stations 1 & 2 of the island.

We might go back to this hotel ... if the kids won't tag along.

Room Tip: If climbing up the stairs is not a hassle, rooms on the 3rd floor indeed provide a good view!

Hotel Soffia is located at the end of a very steep dirt road, 100 meters long.

The driveway is even steeper and climbs another 30 meters or so to the lobby.

The driveway is constructed with hollow paving stones. Each hollow paving stone is a twisted ankle waiting to happen.

If it rains during your stay, it is highly doubtful the small two-wheel drive shuttle vans are going to make it up the treacherously steep dirt road leading to the hotel. Even if the vans could make it, not sure that is a drive you'd enjoy.

The hotel room did not have ** any ** of the amenities advertised on another site (in-room safe, in-room Internet LAN, king size bed, ocean view, jacuzzi).

The hotel pushed two single beds together and provided two single size comforters and called that a "king-size" bed.

Hotel Soffia padded my bill with unauthorized charges, then explicitly refused to provided a detailed bill.

The breakfast buffet was infested with ants crawling all over the table & plates.

The hotel is located twenty minutes away from White Sand beach via a narrow road that corkscrews up a steep foot-hill. If you are familiar with the harrowing traffic in the Philippines, you are aware that one or two trips to the hotel a day means you're playing Russian Roulette for almost ninety-minutes a day as you round each switch-back corner.

The staff didn't clean the room for three days. We eventually ran out of toilet paper.

The hotel, the staff, the location was so horrible had to check out after three days and check into a different hotel.

Room Tip: As noted in other reviews, they will try to give you an inferior room than the room you booked, then...

I love the service, food, and ambiance of Hotel Soffia. The rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. The room prices were reasonable since 3 rooms for 4D/3N was only P30,000 inclusive of buffet breakfast for 3 days. The 3rd night was free so we did not have free breakfast but that was ok with us. We were 7, with 2 kids and 2 senior citizens. Their chef is very good and all the food we tried were delicious and each serving was good for 2-3 people. Dinner would cost around P300 and you will already have fish, pork, vegetables and soup. Snacks is about P200-250 per serving but it is also good for 2 like the clubhouse sandwich or pandesal hotdog. But the shuttle trip is a hassle. Although there is a shuttle every hour, it was inconvenient to rush at the lobby hotel and wait at the terminal of D'mall which does not even have a bench for my seniors to sit on while waiting for the Soffia shuttle. It was also a hassle to bring a bag with all your swimming stuff at White Beach. At night, the shuttle is only until 10:30pm so the fare from White beach is P100 and the tricycle will not go up at the hotel because the road is steep. But you can always ask the staff to fetch you from the road. It was a nice experience to stay at another side of Boracay, but I think I will stay next year at White Beach again. I like Patio Pacific there but that is for another review.

Room Tip: Choose the 3rd floor (room 303) to wake up to a view of the beach.

Was there 2 weeks for business
What striked me was the design of hotel whilst i was approaching Boracay by sea
Hotel has nice Mediterranean touch
Although a tad far from beach, upside is its peaceful and quiet
Rooms are clean and good
Staff warm and friendly
Had several dinner meetings there since i strongly felt ambiance was perfect for such.
Value for money
