Traveling with three small kids, we had a wonderful 4 days in Boracay. We liked the attraction of being out from the busy area of D-Mall ( the area of shops near White Beach). It was much quieter and calmer being away from the hustle and bustle of down below.

The hourly shuttle service was very helpful, and was usually on-time, though we thought it was closer to a 15 minute drive each way instead of the 7 minutes that was advertised. The traffic from tricycles and shuttles was crazy in front of D-Mall. If you do miss the shuttle, you can get a tricycle for a small fee.

The pool was wonderful (though small), the staff was very gracious and friendly; our kids loved the attention from the staff. We had requested adjoining rooms, but were disappointed that was not available when we arrived. But they did move us after the first night, and it was a great accommodation on the third floor (301 & 303) with a view of almost half the island. It should be noted they do not have adjoining deluxe rooms (one was a superior room). They did not give us a discount for the move, though it was worth it to be adjoining with small kids.

Our only areas of disappointment were:
1) we did not anticipate the 12% tax and 10% service added to our advertised bill. It was probably still a decent deal, but not quite what we had hoped.

2) The hotel, though quieter, is near some farms (perhaps cock-fighting farms) with many, many roosters. The hotel was gracious about granting an extra pillow to put over our heads, but the first morning of waking up to early roosters was not ideal.

I do recommend the better location of being away from White Beach and a quieter, calmer location. The hotel also provided a shuttle to the dock for our return. Not sure how to coordinate a shuttle from pick-up from the jetty, though they did offer a service that took us from the airport all the way to the hotel, arranging the transfers. It was well worth it since we arrived in a torrential downpour and our flight was re-routed from Caticlan to Kalibo (an extra 1.5 - 2 hr bus ride, which Cebu Pacific coordinated).

Room Tip: Corner room on top floor (301) had a spectacular view.

Hotel Soffia is a warm, friendly inn located on the north end of the island, well away from D'Mall and all of the noise that goes along with it. As long as you don't mind a shuttle bus into town or to the beach would recommend if having a peaceful night's rest matters to you. The rooms themselves are comfortable and clean, although fairly simple. Agree with some of the other observations about breakfast, which was unspectacular. The staff is very nice and tries hard to organize excursions, etc for guests. Their knowledge of the island was a tad lacking (couldn't really recommend any restaurants, didn't really know about various beaches, etc), but they made up for this with their pleasant nature and enthusiasm. Systems a bit lacking in the hotel also - took 45 minutes to generate a hand written bill and summary of charges, and couldn't make an outside phone call from the room for some reason which I still can't understand. But on balance a good stay for the the price.

Came here after our stay in THE poor erus suites. Hotel Soffia is so relaxing. Shuttle service from harbour to hotel for checking in and out is Free. Schutte service to THE beach takes 7 minutes and is also for Free. Shuttle service is every hour. Hotel staff is so friendly. Like the quiet surrounding away from THE busy borocay.
Nice pool. Breakfast is decent. Prepack breakfast when you checkout super early. Refrigirator was a little bit old Like the airconditioning but worked ok. Bed was big but two beds put in together. Bed made some Noise.

We've stayed at Hotel Soffia for 6 nights. We choose to stay there for that long, because we found a very good offer via Agoda.com. It saved us over 50% per night!
Hotel Soffia is up the hill, wich gives it a great view and silent nights, no rumour from the bars at the beach, we think can be very loud.
Soffia offers a hourly bring and pickup service to and from D'Mall, about a 20 minutes drive, for free.
We were a bit disappointed by the state of the rooms and especially the noice of slamming doors, starting at 5 in the morning. Besides that we found the breakfast poor. We think it's nice for Asian guests, but for the Europian it didn't have much to offer. The good price we found at Agoda saved us a lot of money per night and gave us the opportunity to have breakfast somewhere else (Lemon Cafe at D'Mall!)
There are numerous good restaurants in Boracay. We liked the Greek restaurant Cyma the best.

I booked a deluxe room for 2 nights stay via booking 3 months before my arrivial, and also confirmed my reservation with soffia weeks ago. After checked in, we were guided to a room which I felt it wasn't like a deluxe room. So I went to the front desk turned out it was a superior room. The assosiate asked us to stay at the superior room for the first night then transfer to deluxe room. We were not satisfied with their attitude and the way that not notifying us at the very beginning which was not honest. Besides, the shower water was very unstable. The water temperature varied a lot. The most dislike thing was the cock crow loudly which really impacted my sleeping. I would not recommend soffia to my friends based on its price.
