Casa Pilar Beach Resort
Ranked #24 of 174 Specialty Lodging in Boracay
Reviewed March 24, 2013

It was our second time a Casa Pilar.

Positives - It has a very good location. It is close to the beach but far enough away so you can have a good night's sleep without listening to the noise from the beach.
-The rooms are spacious and reasonably clean. They cleaned it every day.
- The grounds are very well kept.
-Beds were reasonably comfortable and big!

Negatives - No safe in the rooms.
- Breakfast wasn't really up to scratch.
-Shower was difficult to get into since the door opened the wrong way.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, try to get a room further away from the beach.

I've just spent 5 nights at Casa Pilar, traveling with a friend on a quick mini break from HK.

Casa Pilar is a cheap and cheerful guest house, right on White Beach. The pros of the place are clear: location, location location. It's right by boat station 2, in the middle of the main, busy drag in Boracay. The restaurant has lovely views over the beach and the ocean, and a great view of the sunset.

The rooms are clean and basic. The furnishings have clearly not been updated in some time, but everything works and is functional. The beds rank amongst the hardest I've ever slept in, so both me and my friend had fairly poor sleep until we got used to it!

There are a few niggles about the place (at the prices we were paying, I don't expect too much). The first is the wifi. You can buy a package for coverage from reception. Don't bother - it doesn't work. There is free wifi in the restaurant - which works around 50% of the time. The second is the penny pinching. Grudgingly bringing a second coffee at breakfast, and charging for it, isn't commercially very sensible. Bump your prices up a bit, and refill for free. It's a minimal thing to do, but leaves a better taste. Finally, offer up free water and bottle refills (or charge for them at a sensible rate). Boracay is beautiful but clearly suffering under the huge numbers of people who visit every year. It's tiny and environmentally very vulnerable, and the amount of plastic and other waste generated must be a huge problem. Providing solutions that help people reduce their plastic use is a small step in the right direction surely?

I'm unlikely to return to Boracay, but if I did it wouldn't be to Casa Pilar. For a small amount more spend I'm sure there are much better options available on the island, even if you don't want to go the whole hog and book into the luxury of Fridays and the like.

Room Tip: The grounds are lovely but even still it's not a very restful place to lounge round in. We had...

We arrived late in the evening, very nice welcome at the front desk with a cocktail. The staff was friendly. When we went in the room we were a bit shocked: ants on the floor, furniture very old, wall had a hole in it, mirror looked awful. Other than that the room was clean(clearly housekeeping had nothing to do with the poor condition of the room). The first night there was no hot water and the pressure was weak. They fixed the hot water but still the pressure in the shower was very bad.
Low budget hotel with poor conditions, but great location. Has a restaurant on site with a great view of the water. Breakfast was very poor, quite small and few things to choose from. Maybe we expected too much...who knows...

Stayed here for 4 nights ( 4 adults and child).Good value for the money, good location close to all bars and clubs also the beach. Simple rooms, with very weak showers, seen some cockroaches but that's i think usual in this enviroment.

Casa Pilar Beach Resort is one of the long-time beach resort operators in Boracay, especially along the White Beach. Since then, it has not adopted the going trend of other resort operators in the island. It retains its simple, comely, and truly tropical ambiance, less the modern swimming pools, free wi-fi connections, and any thing that may disrupt your longing for quiet, lazy, uninterrupted sojourn in paradise. Compared to any other resorts, along the White Beach, Casa Pilar is still my choice. The rooms are spacious, and equip with the necessity for comfort...airconditioned, hot and cold shower, cable tv, comfortably soft bed, clean bedding and towel. But most of all, the restful and quite nights, being a distant spot from the activities in Station 2.

Room Tip: Perhaps the rooms lined on both sides of the yard have less distractions. The rooms we occupied on...

Stayed here for ~6 nights in October 2012. Pretty good location of the resort itself. It was a slight walk to our room since we were at the back of the resort. For the price, the room was good. The room was cleaned very well, including sand, every day. Bathroom was kind of lame with poor water pressure but hot water worked. Staff was friendly. Free breakfast was good.

Room Tip: The property is long and narrow so you might want to try getting a room towards the front which is a...
