We stayed here for a few days as part of our 2-week visit in the Philippines within our greater 1-month stay in Asia. My sister pushed for booking here as she wanted the once-in-a-lifetime luxurious experience; my husband and I usually opt for the best value, meaning typically less than half this price...so there's the context.
As two couples, we stayed in a suite with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchenette, living room and beautiful balcony. Definitely impressed with our accommodations. Check-in/check-out was prompt. Resort food is foreigner pricing so no surprises there. We were so hungry after arriving so just ordered a whole pizza from room service anyway, delicious! Staff at breakfast were always friendly and smiling; showed clear appreciation for tipping for good service. Great breakfast variety, always so full until past lunch time! It was obviously low season as we had the pool to ourselves when we swam that one day. Pool and even spa water was freezing cold! We still swam anyway but bundled up in our towels after the dip.
We actually spent most of our days on the Strip. You can catch the regular shuttles there, about a 10-mins. ride. You can buy snacks and drinks in town. There's a grocery store right where the shuttles pick up/drop off guests. The beach was beautiful! Packed but great for relaxing, tanning and people-watching. Great restaurants to try out, we dined on the beach every night and always loved it. Beach is littered with tour operators selling water activities. Buyers beware! Some operators looked so shady, holding up a small advertisement sheet and claiming to sell activities...we couldn't trust giving our deposits to those. After some shopping around and haggling, our group tried out parasailing (awesome!) and helmet diving (strangely, a bit terrifying as you really have to overcome your no-oxygen phobia; water was freezing after a while so we had to cut our time short as I was so cold and it got a little boring standing around after the fish-feeding was done; my sister and her bf left even earlier because she had this worrisome persistent no oxygen sensation that impeded her regular breathing, definitely not good!). Water activities were overall really good though.
Good shopping on the Strip. We bought a bunch of genuine pearl jewellery on the beach as souvenirs for ourselves and loved ones. So happy that I 'splurged' and bought 3 of the most stunning multi-layered pearl necklaces! Max price for a splurged necklace was $20, unbelievable! Two necklaces came with a bracelet set as well. Bought a bunch of pearl stud earrings. Loved the pearls!
We said that if we ever return to Boracay, we'll definitely look for a better value deal on/close to the Strip. Because we spent most of our time on the Strip, we never truly made good use of our luxurious accommodations...but it was a nice experience for us.
