“Staff - a disappointment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2011

We went to Residencia because my friend knows one of the owners. We were told that we will be taken care of and that special requests can be made. I only asked for one - that is if we can have a late breakfast as we don't want to set our alarms in the morning just to get up for it. We were told "No". It's not like they have a hundred guests. And they do ask us what kind of breakfast we would like. And the staff - not very accommodating. When we left, not one person said "Thank You." It's also just a basic hotel. Nothing else. We just sort of slept there. It was my first time to be in Boracay. And will never go back to Residencia again. Same with my partner who traveled first time to Boracay. Never will he recommend this hotel to his friends. And he doesn't complain too much in his life. This hotel was the only disappointment to our trip. Such a shame.

Family-run hotel, located in Station 1 area which is the quite area of the beach. However, within a short walking distance of the more active area of Station 2. Simple accomodations, but clean. Rooms have the basics and the beds are low to the floor. Limited services, so keep expectations relative. Seems the best rooms are located on the "open side" and towards the front of the newer addition, because there is a hotel built within 2 meters with a very rough looking wall unfortunately.

it was a relatively good hotel to stay in. and since its in station 1, it's more peaceful and family-oriented. Would definitely go back!

Residencia is located in Station 1 (quiet part of the beach) along the same area as flashy resorts such as Discovery Shores and Pearl of the Pacific. This beachfront resort is ideal for families with young kids because it's easy to keep an eye on the kids while lounging in one of the resort's hammocks, swings, or cabanas. We stayed in the new wing and I can see that thoughtful planning and design went into the building and construction. It's in the small things that one could easily take for granted; for example: (i) having a tap at every entrance to wash sandy feet as you enter the building; (ii) a mud room as you enter the room where you can leave wet gear (This room has three long towel bars where a family of four can adequately hang all their wet swimwear in preparation for another day of swimming. I also like how the shower exhaust blows into this ventilated room, which speeds up the drying time.); (iii) each wall has a pair of electrical outlets that can accomodate flat and round plugs (so that's at least 8 outlets--good for us gadget freaks); (iv) an open cabinet with 5 shelf spaces (each person gets a shelf, plus one for laundry) and a hanger bar for clothes or towels that need hanging (the open design allows easy access); (v) the shower has a niche in the wall so you don't have to reach down to the floor for shampoo; and (vi) the sink also has more than enough space behind and around it for toiletries. The room is spacious, with 2 big beds that can sleep 4 adults comfortably. Overall I would say good value for money considering the excellent location and practical amenities.

This was our first time to stay in Station 1 (the extreme part of the Station). We normally stay in Station 2 Resorts, and as expected, we enjoyed the beach more this time, compared to the crowded area in Station 2.

About the hotel, not much to say, its pretty average. Its just a sleeping place. Management can still very much do something about the place, their food and their service (which is hardly felt).

A tip for Management: "Resources may be limited, but Creativity has no Boundaries"

If you go for this Resort, its just really more for the location and the not so expensive price.

We arrived at Residencia and were immediatley disapointed. The rooms are VERY BASIC but clean, the airconditioner was very loud . Everything is old and shabby or just broken. Our room overlooked the gardens?!?! actually it was a couple of dead bushes and old rubble. Breakfast was appalling. They have no services ie laundry, restaurant, etc and you can only pay with cash. We were supposed to stay for 4 nights but checked out after the first night.

If you want a peaceful, serene, relaxing place...the location of this hotel/resort is the best place for you. But if you are the type who likes to party all night-please consider Station 2 area)

The beach area is just awesome for people who wants to relax on the beach.

The no of vendors who will offer their products/services to you is minimized by 1/10th in this area.

If you were to consider staying in Residencia, make sure that you have bought all the necessary items that you will need during your stay.

Residencia being a Bed and Breakfast place, you might need to eat your lunch/dinner in the area of Station 2 (D'Mall). The nearby resorts like Fridays, Ambassador, and Sea Wind offers a good dinner buffet, but a little pricey. Sea Wind offers it at PHP595, very affordable/reasonable for US Dollar/Euro/Pounds earners.

We tried the dinner buffet at Le Soleil, we were quite satisfied. Limited selection, but of good quality. Service was good!

Tried dinner buffet also of One MGM. Very...very disappointing!!! Maki was bad, one of the dressing of the salad was spoiled already (which the Sous Chef disagreed--we did not bother pursuing our complain, as not to further ruin our night) Most of the main courses were mediocre...try to avoid, there's a lot of restaurants to choose from. (this is our mistake--don't commit the same mistake as we did)

Residencia serves set or ala carte breakfast. If you want to treat yourself to a good buffet breakfast, you can also consider the nearby triple A resorts which I mentioned.

Service: Don't expect much. I hope they can improve in this area, to complement the very good location and very good price they are offering their room and breakfast.

As the title says: "Best Location at Very Good Rates"

Enjoy Boracay!
