4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2011

We stayed there last holy week of 2010, Our room was clean and cozy, the water in the comfort room is okay BUT there were GIANT ANTS at the back of the sink..., there is like a kingdom of Giant Ants living there.... i took pictures of it.,,

The buffet breakfast is good esp the "on the site" cooking of their fresh eggs.., the swimming pool is not that clean but its huge and the surroundings are filled with with beautiful flowers and nice wooden chairs and swings..,

Overall, the hotel is a good place to stay ... its just in the D'Mall and just a stone throw away from the beach.

me and my bf stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights, this hotel, is great if your looking for a hotel, that is near for night life and d'mall. and 5 minutes, away from the white beach.
although, the major problem of this hotel, is insect are all over black/brown butterflies, also big ants inside the dinning area (OMG, while eating u can see the big ants)., since this hotel is covered with big trees, also the swimming pool there are a lot of falling leaves. i felt annoyed that time cuz they cleaned it while were inside the pool. aren't they ready if someone will use the pool? also do u need to take a shower before using their swimming pool ''sir, you need to take a shower first, its over there beside the tree''

1. charged us more than we expected, request upgrade to deluxe but upgraded us to superior
2. we complained about the added cost since we only requested for a deluxe but they continuously argued with us through
3. receptionist repeatedly came back to our room to settle the problem and gradually her face evidently showed disgust and we, as guests, felt uncomfortable with her attitude. (actually i also heard she murmured something that really got into my nerves)
4. finally we decided to settle everything that included paying the additional fees that weren't supposed to be there.
5. and even after that, the receptionist would always show signs of disrespect when conversing with us.
6. dirty place. covers were very dirty. poor sanity.
7. rustings in the shower area.
8. closet was full of dust and we found a cockroach under the bed

summary: this is a place where you can find a disrespectful receptionist (looks like maid and i don't think they got a college graduate in this position), dirty bed and linen. we felt snubbed by the staff.

things i enjoyed: the pool, not far from the beach and night life, the only personnel that was okay were the guy who cleaned the room for us.

i really don't recommend this place for anyone except for those who wants bad service. nothing exaggerated here.

we reserved a room for two but we got another two friends with us, so all in all we are four. they decided to stay with us so we let the receptionist know that we will be upgrading our room for 4 pax. We paid and changed our rooms buuut the receptionist came up and told us that she just upgraded our rooms and is still not allowable for 4 persons and was asking us to pay the amount that we originally paid so its like they are charging us 2 rooms but we are only renting 1 room. and after that they called us again and returned our money, and called again saying that we can accommodate the bigger room (the ones with comforters, the original room we rented don't have comforters). by the time we are in the bigger room they called again and is charging us with another 10 thousand pesos!! and they didn't explained to us why they transferred us and why will be charging us another amount...

they are very confusing and somehow ruined our stay in boracay because receptionist has no patience and even showed us how irritate she was, the manager treated us the same way, they are not accommodating and don't know how to handle situations.

AND.. i agree to the review above that their toilet is not working properly. heater is broken... the place is nice .. but can you stay in a place where staff can't understand your needs?

Found the resort has a great location! Right smack in D'mall area (the next resort that has such location is The Tides)

However, I was hoping that the hotel staff to be more experience in allocating room; the staff knew that i am travelling alone; first time in Boracay but allocated me to a room that is at one corner on the second floor and next to the entrance; they are building up a new wing that anyone can jump off and dash into your room. The thought of "if i am a female travellers, is this wot they going to allocate me into?" came in and felt really unsafe... I dont see any security within or outside the resort premises and again, this sort of freak me out.

Nevertheless; i have been suspecting that the whole floor or rooms near me are all not occupied and guess what? they dont switch on the corridor light and in Philippines, the sky turn dark from 6pm onwards... getting back to my room by 7pm means i gotta look for the switches myself...

rooms are not sounds proof because during my last night; i could hear the baby cried really loudly next door for almost 20 mins.

Overall experience, i dont mind paying a big more to stay somewhere else..

Grand Boracay is among the best situated hotels station 2 in Boracay Island Philippines. It has two gates which open to D'Mall which is the shopping district of Boracay Island.

Was there at the height of the Dragon Boat Festival and the Nestea Beach Volleyball Championship so you can just imagine the crowd from all over...but, Grand Boracay provided that serene and quiet atmosphere far from it all.

Will definitely be back!

Boracay has been a quarterly get away for me and my friends and having been to different resorts, we decided to try the grand bora since we've been hearing good feedback from our friends. The place is nice, very cozy. well kept, the food is great and you could just sit by the pool and relax. I could easily say that this is home away from home. Great staff too, very accommodating.
