Grider Hill Dock Indian Creek Lodge
Reviewed August 20, 2012

We stayed for only a couple of nights but this place is "ok." The lodge really needs some "clean up" and fixing broken beds, screen doors etc. Our room had not been cleaned. Dirty floors, bugs in the tub and still someones beer left in the refrigerator. The room connected with ours had a push vaccum so once we cleaned the room ourselves it was ok at best.

Never have I ever wrote a review about where I have gone but feel I need to warn the public about their Houseboats. BED BUGS! The slide was broke, we fixed it. The dryer vent unattached, we fixed. Dead bugs or mice droppings in pull out couch. And my 8yr old son covered in bed bug bites! Managers did nothing, but say they will look into matter.

My firends and I planned a weekend retreat for a wedding shower the second weekend in June. We had some of our college friends tell us about Grider Hill and we ended up booking an Oak Suite with them. When we arrived to check in the ladies in the office were very courteous and helpful. The room was clean and neat and had a nice set up. Any time we needed anything the girls in the office went above and beyond the call of duty. We had used all our towels, but the girls went up to housekeeping and got us fresh ones. Whenever we needed ice or anything, all we had to do was ask and they were right there to help us. If you're looking for a place to get away and have a good time. I would greatly reccommend staying at Grider Hill.

Room Tip: The Oak Suites are great rooms with a beautiful view of the lake.

We stayed at Grider Hill over Thunder Run weekend (June 23rd) on a 65 foot houseboat and had an excellent time. Yes, there were lots of people but we understood Grider Hill is a popular dock and they were hosting an event that weekend. Our Boat was in tip-top shape, very clean, and ran without issues our entire 4 night stay. The staff was so friendly and eager to help with anything we needed and when we docked, if we needed a shuttle we would just call the office and the girls took care of it. I would definitely recommend Grider Hill to anyone who's staying on Lake Cumberland.

We stayed in the condo's at Grider Hill. The rooms were pretty clean. The carpets could use a little scrubbing but for the most part is was a clean and nice unit. The kitchen area is very updated with nice cabinets. We had a great time on the lake and the employees at the Marina were very nice and friendly. My only suggestion is that the shuttle service need some improvement. There is a huge hill that goes to the Lake and marina. We went over the July 4th weekend and there was hardly any parking available and when we asked for use of the golf cart shuttle service we were told the golf carts were all broken and nothing was available. This caused a juge inconvience in getting to the lake with all of our gear,

Room Tip: We used the Sassafrass Effieciency.

The Top 10 Signs That You Are on a Griders Hill Houseboat

1) If it’s your first special night onboard and 2am is drawing near when the carbon monoxide detectors start going off….you may be at Griders Hill

2) If after calling the emergency number to report a problem and the phone just rings and rings… you may be calling Griders Hill emergency number

3) If after finally being able to report the carbon monoxide problem a man named “Po” shows up with a “Flavor Flav” style monoxide detector around his neck looking clueless and asking stupid questions…you may be at Griders Hill

4) If you find yourself (and your seven kids) spending the most enjoyable day at the dock, not swimming, not using the slide, not tubing or anything else deemed fun, while the “part-time mechanic” tries to pinpoint the carbon monoxide problem…you are enjoying the day at Griders Hill fuel dock

5) If you finally make your way to the picturesque 76 falls and find that they resemble something more like a drainage hose running over a cliff accented with garbage…you found the falls at Griders Hill

6) If you are once again awoken, bleary eyed, by monoxide detector alarms and then spend the following day repacking all of your belongings and repacking them on to a replacement boat…you must be at Griders Hill

7) If your daily cardio workout consists of walking up the steep and treacherous hill to the marina office to lodge yet another complaint… welcome to Griders Hill

8) If after taking possession of your replacement “death trap” and after careful inspection of the onboard carbon monoxide detectors you find the count to be 2 missing, 2 dead batteries and 5 without batteries at all…you may be being setup by Griders Hill

9) If you are enjoying the cool morning air from the warm waters of your hot tub while the kids are still asleep for the first morning of the trip and the gun shots greet you with the rising sun…duck because you are definitely at Griders Hill

1 0)If you have to replace the starter motor on your own boat, because the guy they send out to fix it tells you “I never fixed nothin’ like this before…welcome to [---] Griders Hill

I stayed at the main lodge about 5 years ago. This time we reserved an efficiency cottage(there a 3). The cottage was clean and everything worked. There was a fridge, pots and pans, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, coffee maker, toaster and stove but no microwave. Also, there was a table which extended so 4 people could use the table. There was also a pull out couch which was large but the couch was worn. The bathroom was something else. Again, it was clean but looked as though this was originally a closet and someone made a bathroom out of it. The bed was extemely comfortable. The lodge was built in the 1950's and some of the furniture looked like it was from the 1950's. The view from the room is a nice view of the lake. There is not a deck. You have a picnic table in front of the building and there is also a charcoal grill. We ate at the Jolly Roger Grill down at the marina Friday and Saturday night and had breakfast Saturday morning. The food was good and the portions were big. The docks leave a little to be desired. There are several different levels so you really need to watch your step. We reserved a slip for our boat while we were there. I have included a picture of the pile of trash that was there for 3 days. More attention needs to be paid to cleanliness at the docks. Trash needs to be collected throughout the day. You can get a shuttle to pick you up at the marina and take you up to your room. One evening we came in and were told the shuttle was not running any longer and it was only 7 PM. We were told the shuttle runs until 9 PM. Finally they were able to find someone to come down and get us. Nobody really went out of their way to help you. If you asked for something they would do it but they could have been a little more attentive.
