A visit to the famous underground river in Puerto princesa is an absolute must if you are indeed visiting the island of Palawan. Palawan located a little over an hour flight from mainland Phillipines. Puerto princesa some 2-3 hours from Palawan bustling capital. On arrival at the Port you are transported in gondola like sea going vessels expertly managed by the well trained boatmen for a short ride to the location where u start your trek through dense forest to board your next boat for the underground river ride, be careful of monkeys snatching your personal effects visitors are warned. For your river ride you are provided with headgears and a light, headgears for protection against falling bat excreta and a light to assist in illuminating the underground location. The visit can take up to an hour as their is so much to hear and see, stalactites and stalagmites are in abundance , equally are the number of bats and other flying species, none pre historic. A UNESCO world heritage site. Do visit

A lovely ride into the Underground river. First a boat to the beach and then another boat in the caves. Be warned to need to wade to the beach so sea shoes and shorts best.

Up at dawn for the 2hr trip to the launch point to see the caves. When you arrive at the launch point there's a wait for your boat to take you to the caves... the wait can be 90mins followed by a 30min boat trip to the caves. Yep, there's another wait for the paddle boat that takes you through the caves. The cave and river trip are a treat and the guide who actually does paddle the boat was very good describing everything. The river and cave experience lasts for around 60mins and thens its a repeat of the journey back to Puerto Princessa. Overall a very long day for an hour in the cave but well worth the effort. If you allow for a long day you won't be surprised!

Such a wonderful experience to witness this one of a kind place..A hidden River under a mountain so dark but so magical when illuminated by a flashlight.you will see the beauty of the stalagmites and stalactites forming different kinds. Also heared thousands of bats squeaking everywhere..but dont worry it wont get you they just fly and fly above you..dont worry as long as you dont open your mouth up or else you will taste their poop..^_^
