“Cool cave experience”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

This was a real highlight on my trip to Palawan. It takes a few hours to get here from Puerto Princessa town by bus and boat but it's worth it as the scenery along the way is beautiful. We arrived just in time to see two large monitor lizards come out of the jungle to attack a family's dog on the beach. That poor dog would have been lunch for those lizards had the people not scared them away.

We loaded onto a canoe with our guide and set off for the cave. I sat at the front so i was given a spotlight to shine while inside. There were frayed wires so it was a little sketchy but luckily we had no electrical issues :) The cave is filled with amazing stalactites, some of which look like various animals or people (or so the guide claimed, it takes some imagination). The cave is also filled with bats, lots of bats which are constantly flying around your head. A few came close but never actually made contact. It was a very cool experience and I recommend checking it out it if you're in Palawan.

“it's okay”

1.4km in and out. Interesting sort of. It's a one time thing, not necessarily meaning that it's a once in a life time thing.

“Wonderful!”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

Breathtaking! We were so lucky to have a wonderful guides all throughout our Palawan trip. Our guide, Rich, gave us so many information about Palawan. Our boatman at Honda Bay brought us to the right places at the right time. We were the only ones at Cowrie because most of the tourists were either at Luli or Pambato Reef and when we got to those two places, people were leaving to get to cowrie. Tour guides at ugong rock were fabulous as well. Underground River guides didn't disappoint us as well. He did give jokes about the rock formation but he did give us information on its history. We got to ask questions and were satisfied with the answers. I got some friends to visit the underground river too and they all enjoyed it as much as we did. It was so unfortunate for ablack2000 to have not experienced it that way.

“Nature's secret underneath the mountain!”
Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

The queu was long and our guide told us in advance to expect a pack of tourists and really there was a huge line waiting ahead of us mostly composed of local and foreign tourists.

When we arrived at the port, rain poured down heavily but that didn't stop us as it added the thrill!

When we arrived at the venue, we were amazed by seeing monkeys freely roaming around the area. Some even snatching your goodies! Haha

The whole underground tour took about 45 minutes and our guide was packed with humor. Be ready to get wet! And please dont look up with your mouth open wide as you'd get your best reward.

Its worth a trip to visit as we have 6 more to go (7 wonders of nature).

“WOW PHILIPPINES”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

This was my second time in the underground river (the first time in 1997). The awe-inspiring rock formations have not changed at all but the images that one can conjure have grown more. The boatmen, just like those from 16 years ago have real knowledge about the cave and they have added more to the "script." They also have good sense of humor. The images you see inside would make you crave for more. The downside of it being one of the "Wonders of the World" is that there have been influx of tourists (local and foreign) which has caused a lot of changes in the surroundings.
