“Quiet Stay...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2009

although the hotel is located within the city, the place is so quiet and hotel/ resto staff are accommodating. They will arrange everything for you (if you don't have prior or external arrangements- they can even lend you their pillows if you're on an Underground or Elnido Tour.

Rates are very low and they have generous food serving.. The rooms don't have a balcony that overlooks the bay- all balconies are facing the garden of the hotel. But then if for example you would like to have your meal in the garden- they will charge you with Room Service Fee.

On my one month vacation in SE Asia I found Puerto Pension to be the most enjoyable hotel I stayed in. The best aspects was the hospitality, breakfeast, price and hardwood floors. The hospitality and service is outstanding, as is in many places in the Philippines. The difference in Puerto Pension is the service seems more personal. The breakfeast was the best western style I've ever had in Asia. The hotel is small so don't expect many amenities or 5 star surroundings, but it has all the essentials with artfully decorated surroundings and rooms which are well layed out. There is a van which can take you there for free when you arrive at Puerto airport. The only drawback was the mosquitos as there were many. It would be good if there was a computer available to tenants, for some reason the one in the restaurant is only for employees. All in all HIGHLY recommended.

We booked our accomodation directly to the hotel at least 1 week before our departure. With e-mail responses as proof of our agreements in regards to the packages with the room (ie, hot shower, tv, & air-con etc)

We arrived at 11am on the 3 March our hotel driver was lovely and informative . Hotel looked nice and comfy from the outside . We checked in immeditely , front desk ( Jane) only explained our adventure tour packages and gave us our key. NO EXPLAINATION in regards to where, when and what is the hotel facilities ( ie restaurant or any other info ) OH! we had to asked about our complimentary breakfast and same staff member gave us a breakfast order sheet to fill only if you have a special request..

City Tour and Island Hopping with the TOPSTAR TRAVEL fr palawan was great our tour guides was extremly informative ,funny and easy to follow.

After our 1st day of city tour we arrived (22:00) at the hotel ready to relax and looking forward to a hot shower but, to realized that there is none. THE WATER HEATER is broken, NO STAFF MEMBER even approched us and informed the above incident after numerouse e-mail and phone call to confirm the hotel facilities before our arrival.

Night duty staff ( LITO) was rude, arrogant and was not helpfull he just offered us a little bucket of hot water for 3people. BY Midnite the tv cable went out and we had enough of the non-sence that his trying to say. Our friend asked him if there is any other room available for us to use and be ready for our Island hopping @7:30am & luckily there is 1 with everything working. Our friend had to pushed and insisted for this room.

WE requested to talk to the manager AT 8:00AM but no respond.

Island hopping was awesome all day snorkelling and just relaxing by the beach. AWESOME LUNCH BUFFET. and looking forward to a good night sleep.

Our new room was good until we got a phone call at 22:00 resquesting us to meet w/ the manager.Which we just ignored IT'S 22:00 AND U JUST SPEND ALL DAY WATER ACTIVITES AND U'R TIRED AS HELL .But then at MIDNIGHT another phone call by the same night staff member ( LITO) requesting us to fill a breakfast order sheet. We just hungup. On the morning we DEMMANDED to speak to the manager but, again no respond and no where to see.

BY this stage we are all feed up and just to get the managers attention we said we will only pay the tour activities and NOT the hotel charges. All of the sudden the manager was ready to talk to us

She (hotel manager ) still insisted for us to pay the whole amount but apologized for the inconvience. We paid the tour activities with cash and just paid a 3rdfor the hotel charges.

I would strongly suggest to everyone that if you choose to use this hotel BE ALLERTAND CHECK YOUR ROOM as soon as possible if you would like a smooth holiday.

We stayed here for two nights in conjunction of our journey to El Nido. Based on the good reviews here, we did not spend much time reviewing alternatives. Perhaps we should have looked around a bit: the property is perfectly acceptable, however not much special. The rooms we stayed at were quite small and packed with furniture and other fixtures, so tall travellers be aware that you may hit your head to a TV rack when stepping out from the bathroom.

The first room we stayed at was in the ground floor, and there was a clear smell of mould in the room, but we were so tired that we really did not mind. Our second room was on the first floor and there the issue did not exist. It also was a Saturday night and you could hear loud disco music from the neighbourhood, not sure from where precisely. This was not an issue during our second stay, which was a Thursday night.

The reception staff was always very friendly and helpful. Airport transportations are included in the room rate, and the transfers worked perfectly.

The hotel has also a restaurant on the top floor. We did not try it, and judging by the breakfasts we probably did not miss much. The breakfast offering is quite basic and they don’t even serve fresh juices. On the second morning, it also took some fifteen minutes to get the breakfast despite it being pre-ordered the night before, so don’t plan on a grab & go here.

So, this is a comfortable and hassle free place to stay if you are just passing through Puerto Princesa and do not intend to spend a lot of time at your room or hotel. They also accept credit cards, which smaller hotels in the Philippines don’t necessarily do.

We booked the hotel and tour through a travel agent in Manila but would strongly recommend that you book directly with Puerto Pension and save at least 800 pesos per guest. The service is excellent, friendly staff, and very accomodating. The rooms are just right for an overnight stay with the basic amenities such as; hot shower, comfortable beds, colored TV, Wi-Fi access on request, a small fridge with stock of drinks and snack for purchase. This price is a steal considering that the breakfast is included. The location is a plus, the town's boulevard is just a few meters away, excellent for the morning or evening walks to burn the calories. The public market is less than half a mile away. There are several great restaurants nearby, just hop in to the tricycles parked outside the gate.
The tours were fantastic with friendly good English speaking tour guides. Lunch buffets were included in the tours to Sabang (Underground River) and the Island hopping at Hunda Bay. (loved the grilled fish and pork as well as the fresh coconuts for drinks)
I would definite recommend this place to anyone traveling to Palawan, for sure my wife and I had a wonderful time and will consider coming back.

My friends and I booked 2 rooms. Our room had what it promised: air conditioning, warm water, etc. We had Deluxe B room. Our friends, who stayed in room 10, didn't have hot shower. They notified the receptionist and gave them a discount.

10 minute walk from the market and the boardwalk. The food was mediocre for both breakfast and dinner. This place serves its purpose: accommodation with good service and in a great location.
