We had booked the family room with an extra bed online and paid online in advance. When we got to the hotel, they didn't have us listed for coming. Then after looking through their files for like 10 minutes they found our reservation. They had rented out the room we had booked. So to make up for it they gave us 2 rooms. But we didn't have enough beds. So they gave us this dirty skinny foam mattress for my friend to sleep on. They set up the mattress in front of the door to the restroom, so we would have to walk on the mattress he was sleeping on anytime we wanted to go to the bathroom. We rearranged the mattress ourselves and put 2 sheets over it so our friend didn't have to lay on the dirty mattress itself.

Also the garden is not pretty. They have small ponds that have fish and turtles. But the water in the pond is stagnant, so there is a layer of grime on the top of the water and all over the turtles.

There are a lot better hotels you can stay at in Puerto Princessa.

This hotel had some good and bad points. One of the nice features was the garden ambience. Small pools with fish and turtles decorate the property as well as trees and flowering bushes and you can eat up in a tree house. We stayed in their huge family room which sleeps 4 with 2 queen size beds but you can get an extra mattress for P800 a night which also sleeps 2 people. We were 6 and did fine with the extra mattress. They allowed us to have food delivered from outside even though they have their own restaurant. And they cleaned our room every day, replacing the towels, too. We stayed there 4 nights and the free breakfast was always a fried egg, toast or pandesal with butter and jelly, fruit and coffee. It was just right as far as the portions went but varying the menu would have been nice. They also provide a water dispenser with filtered water in the open area near the rooms. The location close to the airport was also a plus. When in our room, we never heard the sound of airplanes landing or taking off.

We opted to go through them for our packages to the Underground River and island hopping around Honda Bay. Both were well-organized with lunch provided and an air conditioned van. They got our permits for us and all the boat transfers and provided a tour guide. So hassle free! They also provide airport shuttle to and from the hotel, but charge a fee of P150 per van.

The negatives were the air conditioning in the family room which starts out nice and cool but then turns more into a fan after about half an hour. Friends of ours stayed in a standard room and their air conditioning unit was wonderful. The family room bathroom plumbing wasn't designed well and fumes from the septic tank were always issuing out of the sink. All they need to do is install a drain pipe under the sink which would trap the sewer gases from coming up. The inside of the big cabinet in our room smelled really musty, too. For the standard room, the bathroom is open air as in not having a roof. When it rains, you're going to get wet. It was pretty novel, though, and our friends did OK with it.

Overall, it was a pretty nice place to stay.

My wife and I had traveled through the Philippines for alomst one whole month, and we just loved Lotus Garden from the moment we arrived. All of Palawan was nice. We liked Puerto Princesa and El Nido the best. But for sure that Lotus Garden made our trip so memorable because the staff was so helpful, attending to our tours and making it all come together for our travels to Sabang and El Nido. Plus their level of attention to detail so top notch! The place was quaint, with only 10 suites, so I understand why they were so full. And the same so full again when we came back after El Nido. I am so glad we found them and booked ahead. The decor was lovely and the room was great with a king size bed. It was the only over sized bed on our whole trip. The big joke was that they have American sized beds in the Philippines. Hilarious! But the room we had was excellently designed with an outdoor bathroom and beautiful art deco pictures on the wall. So cool! Dont miss Lotus when you go to Puerto!

Room Tip: We had the Hime suite. That or Mikado has the outdoor bathroom.

A quaint little place off the main road to Puerto Princesa – 5 minutes from the airport (50 pesos).
Our garden room was basic but clean and with A/C - there was a TV but signal was poor (who wants to watch TV when there are so many things to explore!?)
Wi-Fi works well in the communal area and the food is delicious – we had Thai vegetarian curry with avocado smoothie!
Friendly staff can organise extra activities for you, if you wish to do so.
Good value for money.

Ps: no issues with mosquito

We stayed here after 2 nights in the beautiful Lagen Island resort in El Nido and what a crashing comedown it was.
From the outside areas it looks tropical and exotic but that soon changes when you get to your room. From the picture on the web I was expecting something very different to the dark and dated room we got. The smell of damp was overwhelming and the bathroom had deep cracks along the wall and a sink that wasn't attached properly, also the tap had a habit of coming off in your hand.
In the 2 days we stayed the room was never cleaned and apart from the obvious build up of bugs etc we had to ask for basics like towels that should have been there already.
The service was never rude but always indifferent. It just seemed like someone had built a lovely quirky hotel and left it with people who didn't care.
I do have to take issue with the restaurant though. Puerto Princesa has some of the best food in the Philippines and for this restaurant to be rated so highly on trip advisor is unforgivable. The food was beyond terrible. Sushi with what I can only describe as lumps of margarine in it and a pork curry that was more bone and fat than any meat. This was after a wait of over an hour, and we were one of only 3 tables in the restaurant.
All in all the most disappointing hotel we stayed in during our whole trip.

Room Tip: Stay in another hotel.

This hotel is very close to the airport (1km) and within easy walking distance to a number of good restaurants. The hotel provides an excellent stop over location on route to El Nido or elsewhere.

Hotel has good character, wooden style with open restaurant, kitchen and bar area. Rooms are spacious with an outside courtyard style bathroom location.

Only downside is walls are thin, so it is easy to hear people next door, still for the price and location it is hard to argue. We will be back if in the area again.

Room Tip: Back rooms away from road side
