“A NICE QUIET RESORT HOTEL”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

I spent 4 days at the Microtel Puerto Princesa, The rooms very clean, and spacious, staff always freindly and helpful, The swimming pool, is not large, however functional in a nice setting, The restaurant was fine, serving reasonable meals, and very reasonably priced
There really is not much to do except relax, The beach is dissapointing and very tidal, ie you have
to walk out to sea about 200 metres for the water to reach your knees ??
The Hotel is approx 20 minutes by Cyclo/Tuk Tuk to Robinsons department store in town, However
the Hotel provides shuttles to from the city VV, which are complimentary.
I would definitely reccommend the 2nd floor ocean view rooms
No real complaints

Room Tip: Definitely an ocean view room, ideally 2nd floor

Glad to hear that despite your disappointment with the beach, you had no real complaints and found our rooms clean and spacious, our staff friendly and helpful, our pool functional, and our restaurant fine and reasonably priced.

Thanks for your recommendation and on your next visit, please allow us to arrange for things for you to do like kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, horseback-riding, and depending on the season, perhaps you can even try your hand at kite-boarding. Our Guest Services Officers will gladly assist you to make the most out of your stay here in Microtel Puerto Princesa!

The resort is not along any main roads. Kind of hidden in but my partner & I like it this way as it is more private. We chose a 2nd floor room that is facing the beach (based on recommendation from other reviewers). It was a good choice. We can always view sunset from our room :)

Place is very clean. I notice the staff will always mop the floor. If there was huge wind & the sand came in, the staff would quickly clean up the place. Or if the guests returned from the beach & traces of sand would be found in the lobby area, the staff would also quickly move in to clean up. Hence, the area would always be clean. Staff were polite & friendly.

Room is clean & well maintained. The resort is also very generous with water. Upon check in, we were given cold bottled mineral water. Each floor would also be equipped with water tank where you can always get hot/cold water. Coffee & tea is always available at lobby around. You can take it anytime.

As mentioned, though the resort is kind of far off fr main road, the resort provides complimentary transport to certain places every afternoon & evening. You can always catch a free ride back & fro. We always go out every evening to have our dinner + shopping.

Food in the resort is pretty good.

We certainly wouldn't mind coming back to this resort again :)

Room Tip: It is a two-storey resort. Choose 2nd floor, facing the beach.

I'd chosen Microtel because of its remoteness and beachfront location.

Of course, as it's mentioned in some previous reviews, the beach isn't swimmable. The water is too shallow even during high tide. During low tide the water just disappears on the horizon. It's the most impressive low tide I've ever seen.

I'd booked a premium room (that luckily happened to be on the ground floor) to have an ocean view. And what a view it was! Floor to ceiling patio doors are open to the white sand with little shade from the palms growing on the both sides of the doors, and then uninterrupted sea views with a couple of mangrove tree in the middle. Breathtaking.

During our stay high tide was at night, so we enjoyed fantastic waves whisper while falling asleep.

The hotel itself is in a good condition.

The room is clean and reasonable size. Lovely bedhead and lightning. The big disappointment is bed sheets and towels those despite careful washing showed obvious signs of wear and tear being greyish with lots of old stains.

The bathroom is also good size, clean, with nice fittings including rain showerhead, no bath though only a shower. The ventilation is needed an improvement: there's no window, fan doesn't do its work properly, so after a shower humidity and condensation stays for hours.

Breakfast is limited. A-la carte for lunch and dinner is also not vast and slightly pricy. But all is well prepared and tasty. Just remember because of the remote location the nearest place to eat can't be reach on foot. The hotel provides free shuttle several times a day for "lunch and dinner out" though.

The personnel is friendly and helpful. The room cleaners are top end.

All and all not bad, and considering the surroundings I was after choosing this hotel, very good indeed. The only thing I desperately missed was a flyscreen on the patio doors in the room that would allow me to leave the doors open all the time (especially at night) without letting in uninvited wildlife.

This is a place for somebody who wants to relax and enjoy the scenery. And don't forget to wake up for breakfast at 6 am and take a table outside, you'll see a gorgeous sunrise.

Thank you very much for your detailed review and I'm happy to note that in general, you only had good things to say about the hotel. I, too, enjoy the peaceful and picturesque surroundings our location affords all our guests, from the spectacular sunrises facing the beach to the majestic mountain-view sunsets overlooking the lagoon. I would say that this is one major reason to stay in Microtel. Being the only international beachfront resort in Puerto Princesa City, you can't get vistas such as these from any other hotel in the City.

But we don't just rely on our great location to delight our guests -- all 10 (and counting) Microtels in the Philippines stick to the same international standards of quality and service, from the size and design of our rooms, to the luxurious chiropractor-approved beds that assure all our guests a comfortable night's sleep.

Regarding your other observations, we've recently replaced all our bedsheets, towels and other linen, something we do every year, and donated these to a deserving provincial hospital as part of CSR commitments. We're likewise improving all the ventilation in our rooms as, like you observed, sometimes the beachfront rooms can be very humid, more so if it's especially hot outside and the A/C temperature in the room was set very low (very cold). We're also trying to figure out a way to put screen doors on all beachfront rooms so guests can enjoy the natural seaside breeze even indoors, without the insects.

Other new developments: We've listened to our guests and managed to find a service provider that can make it happen, so now, we have free high-speed WIFI internet access all throughout the hotel! Shhh! Let me whisper to you the password -- it's "1<3microtel". That's our little secret so please keep it to yourself. Or not. It's OK. ;-)

Again, thank you very much for your warm endorsement and please visit us again when you return to Puerto Princesa City!

Most of the hotels in puerto princesa palawan, if nearby beach, they are too far away from the city and some of them dont have pool.

And most of the hotels with pool, they are in the heart of the city and they are too far away from the beaches.

Microtel resort in puerto princesa has it all. Beach and pool... But dont expect too much.. Coz they dont have elevator inside... Though, you will be greatful with free wifi access not only in the lobby but also in the room.

Yes, you CAN have it all! Get the best of both worlds in Microtel Puerto Princesa. Beach AND pool, the convenience of being near the City AND the peace and calm of a beachfront resort -- you can have it both ways. We're the only international beachfront resort conveniently located just 20mins. from the City proper so everything is within easy reach. We even provide free scheduled shuttle service to and from the City for our guests' convenience and safety.
So, have your cake and eat it, too...only at Microtel Puerto Princesa! (But no, we don't have an elevator. It's only two floors anyway. We do have free WIFI in the lobby AND in the room, though. So, YAY!)

My family and I booked two rooms - one suite and one room overlooking the water for 6 days and 5 nights. I booked early - July, 2012 to ensure that we will have choice room location. The booking process was very easy. The personnel _ Hazel were very patient with my inquiries. They answered all my questions to put me at ease. They also helped me book our exclusive trips to the Underground River and honda Bay. Now let us go to the hotel. The location by the bay is for me wonderful. You can hear the water during high tide and walk on the beach during low tide. It is pricelss to wake up in the morning, go to your balcony and smell the sea breeze.

My husband and I will seat at the open room downstairs and just watch the water and relax. The shuttle to the city proper workd pretty well for us.

The cleaning personnel were all very nice and were always very busy! the breakfast selection was very good. We used the pool too to relax.

i definitley will go back to Microtel Inn. I already strated promoting the place with my friends here in the US.

My only comment was the check out process. There should be more tahn one person doing the check out as peopele are anxious to cath their filghts.

upon arriving at the airport, the hotel's van was already waiting for us and very eager to bring us to a restaurant of our choice for lunch. This was even before we have checked-in at the hotel. good thing we booked on-line. the van later picked us up after more than an hour and brought us to microtel for check-in.

check-in was fast and problem free. just showed ID, credit card used for reservation, and paid P500 deposit which we got back upon check-out.

view was great. our room was at the ground floor facing the beach. kids were happy with the sand, the hammock, the pool, exploring creatures at the low-tide beach; mom and dad happy with the exotic birds, the sea air and the all-day-free-flowing brewed coffee and tea.

not so good experience: loud noise from the other guests, not that it is the hotel's fault.

not so good food. suggestion: Filipino sea food fare in the menu

Room Tip: choose room at ground floor facing the beach as you can easily go to the beach from the sliding glas...
