“Great simple accommodation in a very relaxing setting”
Reviewed May 10, 2014 via mobile

Wonderful place to stay with simple rooms in a great setting, with great service.
The complex is an awesome garden complex with lots of lawn and a pool. Service was amazing. They cook they do laundry. Anything you want. When I wanted to hire a scooter they just hired me one of their personal ones.

Would definitely stay he again

Few hints at the start:

The location is shown wrong on the map here on tripadvisor.
It is north of the airport in San Pedro not south of it as shown on the map.
Look for the correct location on googlemaps or agoda.

Try to book at them directly and not over agoda.
They have an own page here: http://www.sheenas-pension-house.com/
You won't regret doing so.

Now to our experience of our stay there:
We found this place by accident. We planned to stay four days. We ended up staying eleven.
I guess it says all about how comfortable we felt staying there.
Although this place may also have some disadvantages. I will mention them at the end of the review so that you don't get disappointed if you go there and then give them a bad review afterwards.

All in all:
Nice people, clean place.
All in all we had a wonderful stay in this little paradise and we would stay here again if we come back to Puerto Princesa.

Now in detail.

The place is located north of the downtown in San Pedro. Too far away to walk there.
But a trycycle to the main street (Rizal Avenue) cost you only around 50-70 Peso one way.
Some drivers may ask for 100 which is too much.
But as it is away from the busy downtown it is really quite there.
There is a small Sari-Sari store at the entrance of the Pension where you can buy some goods for small money.

The rooms and cottages are embedded in a wonderful garden. It is very beautiful and they seem to care about the plants there a lot.
It has an own pool. They clean the garden and the pool every morning. They have rooms with aircon and cottages with fan. We had a cottage with fan so I can only say something to that. It was well maintained and clean. We stayed in several cottages and hotels during our holiday in this one was the cleanest of all (inside and outside).
It had a big bathroom which I would consider also as over filipino standard. The bed was also really big. I guess they maintain the other rooms the same way.

The staff is very friendly and helpful always if you have question. There is someone at the bar(reception) from
early in the morning until midnight I think. I dont really know but there was always somebody there if we had a question or needed help.
They have an own security guard who takes care over the facility during the night.

They offer foods and cold drinks at the restaurant at very reasonable prices. We took breakfast most of the time it is was good.
We only eat for lunch there one time because usually we stayed outside during the day. The meal was delicious and well portioned
for a very cheap price. I wish we could have eaten more often there. There was nothing to complain about. You can eat at the bar
or let it bring to your veranda in front of your room or cottage.

Water was clear and well chlored.
We only use it one time because like I said we spent the day outside most often.

Other things to mention:
You can book day tours at the restaurant.
They have a table tennis that you can use.
They brought us free food in the evening two times during our stay.
We were able to wash our clothes there and let em dry in the garden.
It was very nice to sit on our own veranda during the day or in the evening and watch the beautiful garden.
Bed lines and towels were changed two times a week and cottage was cleaned too.

Nice people, clean place.
All in all we had a wonderful stay in this little paradise and we would stay here again if we come back to Puerto Princesa.

After all here are the few things that you could criticize:

There are pool guests coming during the day and in the early evening who stay at one of the open cottages in the garden use the pool
for some hours. They may talk loud and hear loud music. Be aware of that. It did not disturb us at all as it brought some life
in the quite place. But I know from other reviews that some guests might be disturbed but the noise that comes along with that.
Especially if you stay at room 4-7 near the pool.

The guy cleaning the pool in the morning did it while listening to loud music.
It did not disturb us.
If it would disturb you I guess if you ask him he will do it without listening to loud music.

As you live in a garden there are of course insects that could also come to your veranda or inside your cottage or room. We did not see much of them.
We had one time a cockroach in our room that ran away by itself. There are of course ants in the garden. If you dont take away your plates fast they come to
eat the rest of it in minutes. Even if you have only some crumbs left on the plate they smell it easily and will come to pick it fast.
Anyway I consider it as normal as you livein a garden it didnt hurt or disturb us.
We liked the visit of the Geckos on our veranda in the evening.

The mosquito nets in front of our cottage windows were broken. So we had no protection against moskitos to come in.
Even though we used an own net inside around our bed we had bites every night.
I hope they fix the nets at windows. Guess it should not be a big circumstance.

As mentioned before it is a bit away from everything and not much around that place.
