Had stayed here in the past and stayed now for 3nites,,, very disappointed ... if you check their website http://www.duchesspensionpalawan.com/servicesoffered.htm, it projects a great look on the outside ... the "new kitchen" attracted me - which is not there... Sad to say, the place is getting dilapidated - lots of ants, TV connection is so bad, only 2 channels are clear. Service is so- so, tho sheets and towels were new and clean, rooms were were not as clean and foul smelling due to cigarette smell even when the rooms indicated Non-smoking. Tho almost expereinced 3hr brownout daily in Puerto, the generator powers only fan and TV, There are better accomodations nearby with better price.

Room tip: Reserved budget room with common T/B - don't even try ... was repulsed by the pungent cigarette smell, upgraded to another higher priced room but not so good a value.

If you are looking for nice, calm and what's more important cheap place to stay in Puerto Princesa on your way to El Nido or San Vicente, Duchess Pension is your choice. For the group of three we paid 350 for a twin and 250 for a single budget fan room, which was pretty cool, even though we had to pay 20 pesos more for the wifi password (but the speed was alright)... The stuff also helped us to book our tour to the Underground River

Went in This pension every time I was seat on the 4 bambù sofa I was bite by the mosquito are coming out!Need to clean or change sofa is better.Staff is always lazy and when we ask something they give us the impression that we disturb them! 1 was GRUMBLED at me in Tagalog with a bad face!! Remember your valued customer are the star if you working is thanks to the customer!!! The little wood door of kitchen staff every time smash is noisy we feel by our room early morning we could't sleep anymore! Provide at least to bring This door with your hand and not smash! Provide to put a MOSQUITO NET on the big window n a door with a mosquito net near the main door kitchen to avoid that many mosquito bite your customer's!

Room tip: There is a Chicken farm opposite reception ask to the stuff for a room on the quite site! Dear manager must solve This noisy problem!!

Stayed at duchess to keep costs down, paid 600pesos for twin room with fan and cold water. We were going to take the singles with shared bathroom but only 2 toilet/showers per floor did not seem enough. Room was adequate, there was a tv but you had to pay to use it. Shower head was broken on arrival but this was quickly fixed. Wifi was free but only available in the common areas. They also wanted 100pesos for airport transfer each when every other hotel in the area seems to offer this service for free. We ended up paying 40 pesos for a trike instead. Breakfast wasn't included but they had it on offer, although not the best. Booking sites say kitchen available but you have to pay to use it and restricted to only an hour. Imagine this is only a problem if you are staying on a longer basis. Town is walking distance, but not that close, trikes were 20pesos for 2 of us to the centre.

Our group of 5 stayed here last March and we were very happy with the place.
We booked a family room (1200PhP/per night w/o air-con and 1300Php/per night w/ air-con) with 4 beds and paid extra 250Php/per night for 1 extra person and they arranged another bed for us between the double-decker and a big bed. The air-con worked well together with another 2 small fans. The shower is separated with the toilet by a curtain; which is fine by us. The room and beds are clean, the bathroom is clean and most importantly, it is very quiet so we had very good sleep for 3 nights there.
They accept booking without deposit if you just call: 63-48-4332873.
A nice and pleasant place to stay. You can ask them to prepare breakfast for you with reasonable price. We didn't get to try but they did look delicious.
Only 10-15-minute tricycle ride to the airport, 10-minute ride to the city bay walk, 15-minute ride to city center. Pretty far from the port if you want to do islands hopping though, about 30-40-minute ride.
No free wifi, you'll have to pay if you want to use it.
All and all, I would highly recommend it if you travel on a budget.
