If you visit Puerto Princesa, you should definitely visit Honda Bay. The Honda Bay Tour was a chill day for us: island hopping, snorkling, chilling on the beach, we also got an awesome massage of one hour on the beach :) If we have to choose between Honda Bay and Underground River Tour, we definitely prefer Honda Bay.

We arranged our Honday Bay Island Hopping tour at the hotel. Our guide picked us up at the lobby and took us to the pier in an air conditioned van. From the pier we took a banka, boat, to the islands. First stop was Pambato Reef. It wasn't bad but we're divers so we've seen better. It was great for snorkelers, though. Our kids liked it. The next stop was Isla Pandan where we had lunch. We stayed there the longest. It was a picturesque island with amenities - showers, toilets, bar/refreshments and the locals sold their freshest catch and cooked them for you in any way you wanted. Massages on the beach were available, too, at a great price!
We fed the fishes with bread. There were lots of them! There was also small reef not far from the shore. We went snorkeling there and saw several fishes and beautiful corals. Pandan Island was our favorite island.
We stopped at Luli Island next. By then our daughter was asleep so I didn't get off the boat. However, the rest of my family did and they liked the island, as well. They fed bigger fishes there. The island didn't have the amenities like Pandan but they did have a toilet and some picnic cottages...

It rained but the sea was still very calm. Overall I feel the Bay is overrated partly because everything is so organised. We went to Pambato Reef which is just a dock. We could only snorkel along a guide rope. There wasn't much to see. Next we want to Luli island. It will appear and disappear according to the tide! Basically it is just a sand bar. Our final destination was Pandan Island. This was the best. We had booked a tour so lunch was provided and we ate it there. We had a great time here. We could see the fish swimming to eat the bread we threw into the water. My six year old was brave enough to hold the bread under the water. All the fishes started to swim towards his hand. Some even bit his fingers! He enjoyed himself but I was not that brave!
Compared to the first two stops, Pandan Island was the best but we have been to better snorkelling places in Philippines.

The Philippines government are doing a good job to preserve the areas around Puerto Princesa and Honda Bay.

The waters up in Northern Palawan are much better but if you only have the option of getting out onto an island from Puerto to enjoy the snorkeling and beaches, its certainly worth the effort.

Be warned that it can be sort of a tourist trap as our tour group was made to endure a trip to the 'souvenir' shops in Puerto Princesa before the trip commenced?!?!

Booked this tour through our hotel "The Legend" which was excellent, they have there own 60 passenger boat and as there were only 22 of us it made it very comfortable, At Honda island the huts were provided also the food had been prepared by the hotel, so the meal was good. I found that by going further along the beach away from the boat landing area that there was coral, clown fish etc and not many people.
