“Lovely Resort!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013 via mobile

My friends and I stayed here from Jan 24-27th. We opted for the villa since the price difference isn't that much compared to the suites. The villa is very spacious! Although we'd like to suggest that longer shower curtains be used in the bathroom and that the spring beds should be converted to foam eventually.

The tours organized by the resort were spot on! We had a great time during our tour with Herman going to the Underground River.

The staff are very friendly - from the Front Desk people, to the housekeepers, to the waiters. Excellent customer service!

Would I recommend this place? - Definitely!

A 20-30 minute ride from the airport, away from the city (but only about a 20 minute tricycle ride into it!)

What we liked:
- The room was so big and clean. We had two rooms essentially. A living room sort of area with a fridge and a bathroom connected to it, and a separate bedroom with A/C, a ceiling fan, and a TV.
- Incredibly comfortable bed and pillows in our opinion.
- No extra charge for room service!
- The Pool. Long enough for doing laps, and deep enough for diving/jumping (I believe 8 meters or so?)
- The gardens were very scenic, and the hotel itself we just thought was really well laid out and planned.
- We really, really loved the food. It was our favorite part of the hotel. The food was so tasty and each dish was also really well presented. There wasn't one dish that we didn't enjoy. I highly recommend opting for at least 1-2 days of set meals (Breakfast, lunch, dinner). Totally worth it.
- Attentive service and very helpful staff.
- The day tours organized in advance by the hotel were great! We had very helpful and friendly guides.
- The relaxed and quiet atmosphere. This is a great hotel to just chill out, relax, get a massage, etc.

Minor nitpicks:
- The small water bottles in the mini-fridge were 45 pesos (walk to a convenience store and get bigger bottles for cheaper, or ask the staff for a 1.5 liter bottle for only 40 pesos!)
- That's it!

Miscellaneous:
- Airport shuttle is free if you stay a certain amount of nights.
- Tricycle drivers were generally hit or miss for us in terms of proper fare. The guy who lives a house down owns a tricycle and he is very honest. Ask the staff for him when going to the city proper at night.
- We stayed for 7 days. After you do the 3 day tours, some other things we enjoyed were: Special Battalion WW2 Museum (Have address ready for trike driver), Palawan museum (Trike drivers knew), Bakers Hill (twice, we liked the bakery there! 30 pesos for a 5 minute ride), and Robinsons Place (Big mall with shopping/restaurants, should cost about 30-50 pesos on trike, 5 minutes away).
- Restaurants we loved: Ka Lui's (Great seafood), La Terasse (Great everything, our favorite place, went there 3 times!), and of course the food at Royal Oberoi.

Another thing about the hotel that stood out was when my gf paid for a 2 and half hour Spa treatment only to have it end about 30 minutes short. We talked to the staff about it, and Mark was very helpful in sorting it out and giving us a discount. We really appreciated the time he took to help us, as well as the staffs efforts.

Thank you Mark & Rose for a wonderful unplanned 5 night stay in January! We booked a Villa Suite to escape rain on the other side of Palawan. You are both always around to answer questions, give advice/ideas and you both have a very good eye for what the guests need! We loved the four-poster bed - some more indirect lighting for romantic moments would of been ideal. The hotel gardens are beautifully kept and really provide an oasis. It was the end of our holiday and all we wanted to do was relax - and this we achieved really well with: a couple of very nice massages, yummy iced coffee and tea at the pool, fantastic food with had a touch of Thai flavours (compliments to the Chef!), the best frozen watermelon daiquiris and great service! We were completely spoilt on our wedding anniversary, with a beautifully decorated pavilion to eat in, and a sumptuous menu, attentive service - very romantic!

I stayed in oberoi last jan 19-22 , and booked well ahead of time. I was very much accommodated all my inquiries and requests was well entertained. When we got there i instantly fell in love with the place specifically the bedroom. I smells so good and very clean. Bathroom is a bit small but never an issue. What i had an issue bout was the internet connection we didnt have any on the 1st day but it was corrected the ff day, and smoking was not allowed inside the room but its ok we d understand cuz the room smells very good. Food is sooooooooooo good a bit pricey but worth it. The pool was great had fun in it, twas deep (8ft) not for non swimmers but if u love the water ul appreciate the pool. Thx for a great stay oberoi, see u again soon :)

If you are looking for a quite place to stay in Puerto Princesa, go to this hotel. It's quite far from the heart of the city, about 7-8km maybe, but this place is just awesome. Clean, quite, good service and friendly staff. It's just an amazing place.

We stayed here for a week, Jan 14-18, and I would say that the experience is awesome.

The food is quite expensive for Filipino budget, but it's average for most foreigners, so I would say that the food cost is fair. Talking about the amenities, this place has a pool and clean rooms. It's just a wow for me.

Room Tip: Go and get the second floor rooms.

My initial reaction when arriving at the hotel was 'this is a bit out of the way, not good' but it's really not the case. It's only a short tricycle ride to Robinson's Plaza (a newly-built department store with plenty of restaurants, shopping as well as cinema). The ride will only cost you P15 per person; that's under 50cents! There is a tricycle driver who lives nearby who is friendly and honest. Get the security guard to call him for you and once you get to know the driver, you can get his mobile no. so he's only an sms away if you want a ride. Most tour operators will also pick you up from this hotel. The new local market is also a 5-minute tricycle ride away.

We stayed in a villa suite which had heaps of room for our family of 2 adults + 2 children. It's a 2-storey villa, the stairs are a bit narrow and steep so may not be good for those who have very little kids. The queen bed is downstairs and upstairs had 2 double beds. It may have been a better idea to have put the queen bed upstairs for child safety. Plus the window with a view of the pool as well as the balcony is also upstairs.

The resort's restaurant is huge and airy. It is also surrounded by very well kept gardens and a vege patch on the side which I found very interesting. Food is great, prices are very reasonable and the staff are all very polite and friendly.

Wifi is free and is quite reliable. Mark, the owner, is very friendly and is quite happy to answer any questions you may have.

Best features of this resort would have to be the swimming pool and the lovely gardens. Both are huge and a welcome relief from the chaos of the outside world.

We loved this place. It's off the road out of town which makes it very quiet. Mark & Rose are doing a very good job. You can get a tricycle (covered motorbike) into town for jus $3. The pool is fab & the food is great too.
