I came here with my boyfriend as a stop off place to chill and catch up on sleep before heading up to el Nido the following day. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff, one holding two glasses of complementary four seasons juice for us on arrival. We were lead up to our beautiful room, with a high decorated ceiling, air con and a toilet that looked like a throne! We were very impressed. We headed to the pool after this and enjoyed some cocktails, which were made well and reasonably priced at 150p each.
Perfect for couples or friends wanting to chill.
A 100p ride from the airport.
The hotel also arranged our transport up to el Nido from the hotel.

We got robbed inside our hotel room. When we reported the incident to the hotel, the response was that we were "too easy of a target," and Dolce Vita decided to do nothing. Fortunately, only fake jewelry worth about $50 was stolen. But the indifference from Dolce Vita to the incident troubles me - especially because the main suspect was from the Dolce Vita staff.

If it weren't for the incident, I would have given the hotel a 4 star review. One star deduction for the below average food quality. Other than that Dolce Vita has great and clean facilities. But it's not worth getting robbed.

Dear Guest,

I was not amused to read Your review affirming You have been robbed inside the room.
Since it was the first time, that I was informed about the incident, I immediately
called You on the phone to discuss that matter.
I apologized for the hassle You had because Your partner lost a pair of fashion
pearl earrings worth not more than 50 US Dollars.

Please let me explain this incident from our point of view:

Upon check in every guest is signing a registration card with an indication, that the hotel
Is not reliable for any losses of valuables inside the room and the guest can deposit his
valuables in a safety deposit box for free at the reception.
Access to our hotel rooms aside from the management have only our two housekeepers
on duty for cleaning the rooms. The one in charge helped Your partner searching for the lost earrings and he was wondering, that there were another jewels just beside the site, where Your partner argued that something was lost. How come the “thief” stole the one pair of earrings, but did not get the others just beside?

Housekeeping is a job, in which You can employ only very trustworthy persons.
Our two housekeeper are almost 7 years in our hotel and we never had any complaint
from a guest, that valuables would have been stolen. Our both housekeeper know, that
they would loose their job immediately, if they would steal something inside the room.
Your suspect is the housekeeper, but do You really believe, he would take such a risk
to loose his job just for a few fashion jewellery?
Or did You ever contemplate, that Your partner may have lost or mislaid her jewellery somewhere else?
My own wife mislaid her jewellery once in a hotel in Manila under the pillow. She did not
even know where she lost it. After 3 months we stayed in the same hotel and what a
surprise: The housekeeper had found her jewellery under the pillow and delivered it
to the management for safe-keeping.
I can guarantee You, that we will inform You immediately, if we still should find
Your lost fashion jewellery inside our hotel premises and return it back to You.

It is almost impossible to proof someones guiltiness or innocence in such a case.
So there will be always testimony against testimony.

But as a hotel owner I can explicitly say, that no hotel in the world can afford to be
indifferent if such an incident happens inside the hotel premises.

Yours very friendly

Stayed at Dolce Vita for 3 nights. The hotel has a free airport shuttle, just email in advance. The hotel also runs tours, we booked Honda Bay Island Hopping & The Underground River. Both were great. The hotel was clean, comfortable & the staff would do anything for you. You have to get a trike or tutt tutt most places but they are only 20 pesos into town. As other reviewers have said the US Navy occupy a lot of rooms but they are professional & quiet. We would stay here again.

Dear guest,

Thank You very much for Your review at TripAdvisor.

As You mentioned the US Navy as regular guests in our hotel, I have to explain to other
prospective guests, what the US Navy Is doing in Palawan.

The US government sends soldiers to Palawan as a part of their development aid program.
These people are building new classrooms for elementary schools in rural areas,
a pure construction job.
Their help is highly appreciated by the Philippine Ministry of Education.
Dolce Vita is one of the few Hotels in Puerto Princesa, which meets the requirements of the
US Embassy, especially when it comes to safety of the guests.

Our Navy people are a very pleasant company: disciplined, quiet and very friendly. They don’t
bother our other guests at all. You would not even notice, that they are soldiers, if they would’t
have to wear their uniform in the morning before heading for their construction work.
After work in their leisure time they are wearing casual clothes like our other guests.

Our Dolce Vita staff is happy to provide them their best service like to all our other guests.

we stayed at dolce vita last july for 4nights. we've booked a package that has city tour, underground river and island hopping.

the hotel's interiors are great. it almost has a greek-inspired design. i love their bathroom! it's big and has beautifully crafted designs. staff are friendly. they asks us everytime we go out if we'd want our room be cleaned. they also have a nice pool with beautiful lights at night. for the food, i did not really like them since the breakfast/dinner included in the package are set menus so no options to choose from.

during our stay, there were lots of marines/navy staying there. we asked the receptionist and was informed that they are regular guests in their hotel yearly. i'm not sure if i have to feel safe or scared about learning that we have soldiers around us..haha

anyway, for the location, the hotel is actually a little far from everything else. good thing that we have to go as planned in our itinerary so we were able to really explore the city. but if you just stay at the hotel, there is nothing else to go near it. just a residential place around. another concern was, there were many mosquitoes at night during our dinner at their large nipa/restaurant since it's open and in the middle of the garden. you'll smell the mosquito repellant they planted near your seats.

overall, the hotel's services are just fine. average rates for an average stay. the highlight of our stay was really the underground river which was impeccable even if it was a bit rainy at that time. the shopping for souvenirs was also good.

i can recommend this hotel for future guests who want to have a not so expensive getaway. good services but nothing much to expect.

Room Tip: we stayed at the ground floor. i think it's better to stay at the 2nd floor so that not much peo...

Well I was stationed in Palawan for 6 mths with the US Navy. Had a wonderful time with the staff! They made Xmas wonderful even though we were so far away from home. Bar was great! Food was wonderful except for choice of food. Over all if I come back to PI I will be staying here. Staff was the best and became good friends with them! Salamat po! To everyone there! God bless Matt from 74!
