The price seems outrageous but all things considered, the exclusiveness, sheer natural beauty of the place , excellent staff service, food and activities included, its really money well spent.
This is a place to chill out , have some peace and quiet time with nature, enjoy great snorkeling; this is not a party place; I would say 3-4 days here is just right.
My only complaint is the reservations process is too cumbersome, too much back and forth paperwork, and being asked to confirm your reservations more than two times borders to annoying.

Great quick get away for me from Hong Kong.

The rooms are nice and accomodating. The bathrooms may need some updating, just an open tiled shower stall. But, absolutely comfortable and manageable.

The staff go above and beyond to make sure your vacation ideas are meet from the moment you arrive at El Nido airport. They are upfront about what activities are available and what is involved with each. If you just want to veg on the sun chair, they absolutely understand and leave you alone to enjoy. I would request to be away from the families with children, the staff took note. I only had to request once and the rest of my stay I was seated away from the families and guided towards activities without them. Big Kudos for that alone!

I would highly rec the dive shop. I am certified and have dove about 4 times but never got comfortable diving. This dive shop was by far the most professional operation I have visited. He got me comfortable diving and have found a new activity to do experience.

As a Westerner, the buffet was enjoyable. A good variety of Western food that I am comfortable with and local options to be able to try easily.

My only complaint would be the cooridinating of logistics to get there on their flights from Manila. It was a bit of a pain to coordinate the flights from Manila to El Nido and finally worked out with a bit or logistical adjustments on my behalf.

Stayed there for 2 nights. I agree with other reviews that the rooms are small and not really exclusive. I had the garden cottage for myself and payed the promo off season rate of 6.500 P + taxes. It´s not a good idea to share a cottage witth more than 1 person. The service was great, when I arrived my AC didn´t work, 5 min after my call 3 staff members arrived with all kinds of tools to fix it. You have a personal "activities coordinator" who plans your activities with you. Everybody is very helpfull. The food is ok. Don´t take the all inclusive for 2.500/day though, since it´s just overpriced and not worth it, especially since you have to pay extra for every shake or alkoholic beverage you drink. A la carte is ok, you get a good meal for 300-400 P. The Island hopping and other activities we were on where just great, don´t miss small and big lagoon. There is a house reef that´s definitely worth to snorkel. Since it´s a natural preserve thee fish get really big there! I even saw a turtle. One reason that justifies the price in my opinion is that the Resort owns some very nice beaches with sunbeds, a Bar, bathrooms etc. where you can go to as well and you can use the facilitis of the Lagen Resort also. So you can have some alternation while you are there.

It's my first time in El Nido and in Palawan in general. The place is indeed stunning... Limestone Islands, Tourquoise blue waters, fantastic snorkelling, and lush spots of forest. Kind of reminds me of Avatar!

El Nido resorts is located in a group of islands accessible by boat from the airport. It's not attached to the main island of Palawan but close enough. Palawan in general is still very much untouched, undeveloped and definitely not close to the commercialization of Boracay - WHICH IS A GOOD THING!

I have mixed feelings about El Nido Resorts... I think mainly because, for the price, I expected a lot more. Mind you, you are paying close to $700 a night a room. That's not something that even a lot of first world citizens can afford. So you do expect to get value for the money and I feel that perhaps I didn't get it 100%. Close, but not quite.

THE GOOD:
1. Staff - very friendly and GENUINE. You can really see and feel that they genuinely want to serve and make your stay great. They're not intrusive at all but is there when needed.

2. Location - El Nido resorts own 4 islands (Lagen, Miniloc plus the 2 island beach clubs). Really stunning scenery and great on-the-spot snorkelling. They are secluded islands so you do get away from it all (most of Palawan's islands are secluded and untouched).

3. Accommodations - Booked in a Deluxe Seaview Room. I think the upgrade is worthwhile. The rooms are brand new and the bed faces the ocean so you literally wake up to it. The hardwood floors, modern bathroom and overall space is nice.

4. Activities - We didn't do much of the group activities, but we were offered 2 snorkelling trips that is not in their main list of activities, each time provided us our own guide. It was fantastic! They were quite flexible about this, which is nice (meaning they didn't require us to follow rigid tour schedules and always join the group). The beach club and picnic lunch was a unique nice touch. Overall it's up to you what you want to do and there's plenty of them if you want to keep yourself busy. All activities are included in the price of the room and the logisitics is quite impressive. Everything is on schedule and they know who you are as you get there (so you know they have it together!).

5. Food - plentiful, with a variety of Filipino, Asian and American food. Lots of seafood, lots of familiar things as well (such as burgers, hotdogs, salads). All 3 meals, which are included in the room price, are buffet so you will not get hungry! Meals at the Entalula beach club is picnic lunch (grilled foods).

THE BAD (OR NOT SO GOOD):

1. Staff - Although friendly and nice, they seem to lack the training in getting all their information consistent and straight. There's also a bit of a language/communication challenge. The information you can get from the staff is very limited and generally when you ask a question to one staff - he/she will ask another - then that other staff will ask another again. They really need to invest in empowering the staff to do their job. I believe this issue is a reflection of the leadership/owners of this business.

2. Location - Miniloc is a small island and secluded, You can't really visit the other main parts of Palawan (Puerto Princesa, Coron, Busuanga). This isn't the resort's fault... It's just the way it is. Most transportation is by boat and it takes a while to travel from island to island. Also there's not much walking/hiking to do in Miniloc (but something you can do in Lagen).

3. Accommodations - It seems that they don't have true queen or king beds. If there's 2 of you and need 1 bed, it's just 2 twin beds put together. They don't have one of those foam attachers so you can feel the edge of both twin beds. I think it's cheap of the resort for doing this - which is to ensure that they can book all rooms no matter if 2 single beds or 1 bed is needed. It sacrifices the comfort of couples who paid so much to stay here!

Also, when booking it says you are provided 2 bottled waters per night. And when we got there, they provided us with a pot of water. When I asked, they argued their way out of the bottled water. SERIOUSLY, are we going to argue about a $1 bottle of water AFTER I've already paid $700 a night? That is very short sighted and really upsetting. I hate being nickled and dimed.

4. Activities - I think a huge bulk of what you pay goes here. If you want to relax and veg, this is not the place for you because you won't get your money's worth. It felt like I HAD to go do the activies because I already spent for it. They removed some activities as well, such as the beginner dive, which again feels like you're being screwed. Also, all activities now are in groups (which from what I hear before was not the case).

5. Food - Can be repetitive... Also they go on chiming about the resort being enviromentally friendly - so it doesn't make sense that they serve buffet meals. That is a lot of wasted food and definitely NOT green.

TO SUMMARIZE...
The value of this place comes from nice/clean accommodations, the logistics they handle for you, the organized activities and boat rides, picturesque location, and snorkelling. I am glad I went here and did enjoy my time for the most part. There's not really any other resort that does this in the area so that is what you get - the convenience of not planning it for yourself and getting everything handled for you. It's a good place to go if it's your first time visiting. I'm not sure if I would stay at El Nido again necessarily, but I would go back to Palawan.

Just came back from El Nido, and i've travelled quite a bit before especially throughout Asia (Malaysia, HK, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Japan and Singapore) and I have to say this is one of my all time favourite places.

The included water sports and activities, the location and the service all make for a wonderful experience. The wi-fi at the restaurant was fast and reliable but aren't accessable from the rooms, but really you don't want to be checking your work emails on holiday anyway.

I'd reccomend to stay at the Miniloc hotel over Lagen property, as i found the set up of the hotel, the beach, the pier, and the bar to be better situated than on the Lagen property however the pool at Lagen is great! They are currently building another hotel expected to be completed in 2011 which has a sun rise and sunset view, beachfront and looks very promising.

Only negative would be that i found some of the food to be a bit average - i'd reccomend sticking to the grilled food and the fish as the local food that's what they do best.

Again i'd highly recommend going and look forward to going back myself in the near future!

If you are after a vacation that involves just relaxing in your room (or by the resort's pool) and expecting amenities similar to that of a 5-star hotel in the city with high-speed wireless internet, then Miniloc Resort (and El Nido for that matter) is definitely NOT for you. This resort is perfect for those seeking a wonderful adventure-filled holiday - discovering unspoiled beaches with powdery white sand and turquoise waters, snorkeling and kayaking in the lagoons and swimming with hundreds of colorful tropical fishes.

True, the cost of a night's stay on this island resort can probably get you a presidential suite at a 5-star hotel in the metro with a personal butler. But what you're really paying for here is the opportunity to experience paradise on earth! Miniloc island is such an amazing place, offering stunning views of Bacuit archipelago with magnificent limestone cliffs as a backdrop. I cannot say anything negative about the resort's facilities either. The rooms, albeit old, are pretty decent, clean and well-maintained. I stayed in a garden cottage and was quite happy with it. Also, the service Miniloc resort offers is just impeccable! The staff are friendly and attentive to the needs of its guests.. My husband and I didn't have to worry about anything during our stay; it was a hassle-free vacation indeed Expect someone from the staff to hand you a towel after swimming/snorkeling and carry all your snorkeling/diving gears during island hopping tours.

The food is decent (try the cappuccino and belgian waffle - really good!). If you do not plan to pig out then don't go for the buffet option. Don't leave Miniloc without tasting the famous ripe mango with calamansi shake!

To get your money's worth, avail all the inclusive activities (island hopping/lagoon tours, hobbiecat sailing, rock climbing, sunrise/sunset kayak or cruise, intro dive, etc.) in your package. A visit to Entalula beach club is a must. Breakfast at Lagen (Miniloc's sister resort) is also recommended. Kayaking and snorkeling in Miniloc's in-house reef are must-do activities (there are many stunning white-sand beaches around Miniloc island, which are accessible by kayak).

To sum it up, don't expect a 5-star room/resort facilities for the price you pay. The natural beauty of Miniloc and El Nido more than compensates for this. Also, remember that the cost covers not only the accommodation but all boat transfers, drinking water (the resort maintains a desalination & water treatment plant & ships mineral water from Metro Manila), services of tour coordinators and guides, and all water activities' gears/equipment (and even the beach towels!).
