The place is small - no discos , no TVs , no promenade mind you - only a subdued resort for a quiet , quality vacation for water sport minded - diving and excellent snorkelling few meters from the shore . Activities consist of visits in other islands in the vicinity - everything is nature and in the most beautiful form in the tropical meaning . Food is consistently good and varied -your only concern is your daily diving or snorkeling

We stayed there for a week en in November 2012 and we really had a great time
The staff is welcoming, nice and helpful . The resort is very well organized ( shuttle, ecology, activities, private dinner on the beach , etc..)
All activities are included . We felt like in Paradise visiting hidden beaches and lagoons .

Price is quite high but going to Paradise has a cost :)
They should maybe includes drinks in the rate .

last thing, we actually wanted to get the room you can see on the picture or on their website, so we booked the deluxe sea view one ( most expensive one) but finally we got another one which were on the right side of the beach . So just check with them in advance
Except that, we had a wonderful time

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon over Christmas 2011. I wasn't going to write a review, but looking back now, I thought I should write a review for ordinary people like us. We don't usually book 'luxury' or exclusive hotels, and so this was a treat. We booked this resort due to the photos on El Nido resorts website, and all the amazing reviews on Tripadvisor. We know in hindsight that photos on the El Nido resorts website are a collection of photos from their 4 resorts, so too are the professional photos and travellers photos on tripadvisor. Anyway, Miniloc resort is situated in a tiny tiny cove on an island in the Bacuit group of islands and it's beautiful - high cliffs dripping in vegetation, clear water, white sand & palm trees.
We got the boat transfer from El Nido town, which meant we didn't have to worry about luggage allowance which applies if you get the private plane. On arrival, the staff sang a welcome song and gave us a cocktail and there was some information about activities etc. We had a huge room, with a balcony overlooking the sea, huge bed, plainly decorated, simple furnishing. Large bathroom and the biggest shower cubicle I've ever seen. There was wifi in the outdoor bar but it was painfully slow and there was no mobile signal, so we were virtually cut off from keeping an eye on our business for those 3 days.

The food was good, but not amazing, a choice between buffet or a la carte menu. We mostly chose a la carte so that we got more variety of dishes. For some reason the buffet was more expensive than the a la carte, even though it wasn't as good. There were activities available that staff could "arrange" - by this they meant a rigid timetable of 1 activity per day, which were not repeated over the week. Some of these were things you could do yourself - ie snorkelling or kayaking straight from the beach. Others were visiting one of the 3 other resorts where you could have lunch. Yawn! You get more choice of activities in a budget caravan holiday in the UK. We did 1 organised activity (the best one available) which was a half-day boat tour around some of the islands in the archipelago and lunch at their resort on Lagen island, where you could have a swim in their pool/ or sit by the pool. Bearing in mind this is a separate resort full of its own guests, so would there be any loungers left to sit on? Maybe.
Miniloc resort had a small number of loungers on the beach (about 8) and a tiny outdoor bar with about 8 -10 seats and a pool table. The beach is only about 100m long so it doesn't take much of a walk. You can't get to any other parts of the island from the resort. The snorkelling was good and we hired kayaks to visit the nearby Big Lagoon and Small Lagoon which were breathtaking. We had a full-body massage and foot scrub which were excellent, very relaxing. The hotel put on entertainment in the evenings and there was a special event organised for christmas that unfortunately got cancelled due to wind and rough waves.

This island is in fact a difficult place to be in bad weather. On our last day and a half it was so windy that you couldn't use the sun loungers on the beach - you were getting pelted with sand! Ouch! Some bar seats had protection from this sand beating but not all, so you couldn't sit there, nor use the pool table, nor sit in the restaurant. We went snorkelling as we thought this would not be a problem in this high wind, but we were wrong. The sea was filled with stinging algae, brought close to shore by the storm. It was so so painful (like jellyfish) and we got stung about 20 - 25 times before we could reach the jetty. Unfortunately there is no swimming pool to use in these situations. So we spent the last day in our bedroom sitting on the balcony! Obviously the hotel can't do anything about the weather, but it's worth bearing in mind about the seasons/ cyclones etc if you're considering staying here.

we thought this resort was not good value for money, because you had to pay extra for VAT +service charge; and the meals and drinks were very overpriced. Also the cost of our stay didn't reflect the amenities/ service that we actually received. We think the high prices reflect the private location and the costs of building the place and transporting all their goods over from the mainland. Overall we felt the place would be too boring to stay more than a couple of days. After we left, we stayed a couple of nights in El Nido town, and had more boat trips from there, which were absolutely amazing. - So you don't need to stay in Miniloc resort to get the beautiful scenery and boat trips.

My wife and I stayed here last April. I loved this resort. We have traveled all over the world and love the private and low key nature of this resort.. The staff was great from the very start. We booked our vacation and the staff helped us set up scuba, spa and tours before we even arrived. When we arrived we didnt have to worry about anything. The best part of the vacation was being taken to Etalula island and hanging out by ourselves for hours. We also were able to book a private dinner on another island. I just really want to go back.

We spent our honeymoon at El Nido Resorts Miniloc December last year. It was the best vacation we had, ever.

Although it was on the pricey side, our every penny was well spent. We reserved months in advance since we know that December falls in the Peak Season category. We also paid full in advance before we were able to have a confirmation of our booking, which clearly spells exclusivity of the place.

Arriving at the resort, we were greeted by a group of singers while we sipped our refreshments. Right after, resort staff attended to each guest explaining the activities and amenities of the resort. Then we were escorted to our water cottage, a quaint but adorable cottage made up of native building materials with the comfort of an AC, modern bathroom and a nice veranda overlooking the beach. No TV, which we didn’t need anyway considering all the activities in the resort which filled up our schedule. No tips were allowed either, which was a surprise, and impressed us even more of this resort.

Some of the activities we enjoyed, were lots of island hopping, snorkelling, exploring the nearby big lagoon using a kayak, feeding the huge Jacks, hiking at the Lagen resort and a romantic exclusive dinner on the shore of the big lagoon island. What’s really nice is that you can visit other resorts, like the Lagen resort, have lunch there and it will be charged to your room in Miniloc. Guests are very well taken cared of during transfers and you don’t have to worry where to get the snorkelling gears, life jackets, kayaks, etc, because they automatically provide you with these during your stay.

The white sand was lovely and the beaches were very well-maintained and clean. Scuba diving would have been fantastic, which we couldn’t do because we didn’t have our PADI’s yet, but snorkelling alone was such a delightful experience.

This resort is truly an amazing place, one of a kind. All the tours were well organized, the food was fresh and of top quality and the staff was super friendly. My husband, a South African was smitten with the place that he did not want to leave.

This place deserves our highest praise and recommendation. We will definitely come back.

If you are looking for a vacation with no stress this is the way to go. El Nido Resort takes care of everything for you. Just show up at the airport for their private plane to fly you to this beautiful well-maintained resort. All the activities and equipment - snorkeling, kayaking, diving, wind surfing, island hopping etc. are offered as part of the package, as are all the meals and transportation. The guides are very well trained and are very friendly. If you have foreign friends or balikbayan family coming over for a visit, you should recommend El Nido Resort as a must-see place.

This is a long overview review but I still can't forget the fantastic time we had at El Nido. It is composed of 4 hotels but I found Miniloc to be best at preserving the "local" feel without skimping on amenities. You will be provided with biodegradable products for use during your stay. The bathrooms come with refillable ceramic jars of shampoo and conditioners. You will be pampered and LOADED with activities during your entire stay. We enjoyed very much the lunch at a private island of your choice (we chose among the lagoons) and the Sunrise hike up Pangalusian Island.
El Nido consists of a group of Islands that you can visit but they are all part of the entire experience. The visit to Snake Island and of course the kayaking trip amongst the limestone cliffs are spectacular! As soon as you arrive, you will be "fitted" with your own lifevest and snorkling gear for use throughout your stay. A guide will be assigned to your party as well as a guest relations person. We got Albert and he was the best ever--always on top of things non-stop. We will be forever grateful to him and the staff of Miniloc..from the kitchen staff to the hotel room people. It is worth every penny spent! There's nothing like it in the Philippines.
Just go and have a great time!!!
