“Great place to get away from it all..”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

Stumbled upon Verde Safari after renting a motorbike to tour the island. Stayed for lunch and after a lengthy sales pitch from the owner decided to stay a couple nights in the rooms. The beach is beautiful and empty and the owner let's you swim out to his boat to sunbathe/practice back flips. The rooms were lovely and the tap water is drinkable which was such a nice treat. There is no AC option and the generator powering the fan is turned off in the evening and middle of the night so can get warm from time to time. Unfortunetly the doors and windows aren't completely sealed so by night 2 we had visitors. The food was delicious, though the menu is very limited and it is your only option since there's nothing else around, but the beer genuinely is the coldest in El Nido, possibly all of the Philippines. The place was really nice and the owners and staff are lovely, it's just a shame he pushes sales so hard; for the rooms, his boat trip and even the food he wants you to eat. His conversations are very one sided and can be heard repeated like a monologue near word for word to other guests throughout the day. He has every reason to be proud of what he's built but it would've been nice if he let it speak for itself. All in all, if you want a nice beach away from the El Nido crowd, this is the place to go.

Room Tip: When it came to rooms vs tents we opted for a room, especially to take advantage of the dinkable tap...

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your review & the things you had to say. I do apologize if you feel I was the way you stated in your review. At the time of your stay, I was the only marketing tool we had & was merely trying to give you the best we could offer. We were very new at this time & being so far out with very limited options at the time, I was wanting to allow all available options to you. As for my conversation, well when you have no other English speaking people around....you tend to want to talk a lot. I know sounds crazy, but my wife was in Manila & the business was left to me to operate, manage, market etc. I do know your boyfriend told me personally he had no complaints & slept very well. So again, I do thank you for your review & we have made great improvements since your last stay. Please take a look at our website or Facebook & we hope you consider staying with us again. Salamat Po!

We decided to make a reservation at Verde Safari due to the excellent reviews on tripadvisor. I can only confirm that the revies are absolutely correct. The place is a little hideaway paradise. It is a 40 min drive from the town of El Nido and there is not much around, but if you are looking for a top beach that you have almost for yourself, this is the place to be. The place is run by an American and his Philippina wife who just recently established their home there. Next to their house they built a bungalow with two rooms, each with seperate attached bathroom. The owner takes good care of the place, the tub-water is purified and way better than in all places we stayed during our travels. If you go there I suggest you try the massage (400 Php/hour). A lady will come from the village, she is amazing!

Very private and cozy! Wonderful view to wake up to. Meals are always great, fresh and tasty. Quite far to go to but very much worth the trip. The people in the village at the back are friendly, staff and crew at verde safari are so nice and helpful. Really enjoyed the stay, very much!

Room Tip: Room or tent are both good.

If you are looking for a quieter, less touristy place to stay in El Nido, look no further and book a room at Verde Safari. The Verde Safari beach is secluded. When we went there last year, we had the beach all to ourselves so if you are looking for privacy and wanted to get away from the crowds and the tourist traps, then this is the place to be. From the town proper of El Nido, we took a boat ride and arrived around 20 minutes later. The place is unbelievably close to the beach front. You literally just have to take a few steps to go down the beach.

You have the option of renting a tent or a room for your stay. If you do decide to go camping, the amenities are modern and complete so you can still rough it out but at the same time, be comfortable all throughout your stay. The camp site is located in a vast expanse of powdery sand but is completely shaded by the many coconut trees that gives off a salty breeze that will lull you to sleep.

Arelle and Doug, the couple who owns this place, and their staff are very friendly and will accommodate any sightseeing inquiries you might have so you can maximize your stay in El Nido. There is also an in-house masseuse for an impromptu massage. You can also try your hand at rock wall climbing if you do get tired of the beach (although I find this impossible). And of course, a trip to the beach is not complete without a bonfire lit, which we had during our last night in El Nido.

VERDE SAFARI EXCURSIONS

This is the best vacation I had ever had in my life. I soooo love to travel and been
in different places but this place is one of a kind. We enjoyed our 8 days stay in a
very private and romantic beach, where we get to enjoy walking around and do all the
activites that VERDE SAFARI offered, skim boarding, frisbee, beach volley etc...

The services are all good and sorrounded with hospitable and friendly staff.
Enjoyed the fresh catch of the day esp the lobsters, shrimps and fish we all love to eat.

Rooms are very clean and we get to have good sleep all night.

We'd love to go back again and again in these place called Paradise, This is where I actually fell in love.. Fell in love with the place and with the one I am with :-)

Thank you to the staff and crew of VERDE SAFARI...See you again soon!!!

Hey Doug!

Joel and I had a great time at your place- great views, great people and the coldest beers in Palawan (Manila for that matter)! Definitely a "highlight" of our trip. Hope to get back again someday soon!

Seriously folks, this place is beyond beautiful. We were on a budget so we stayed in a tent, but the rooms are super cool, and the food was great- you get what you pay for . . . . Oh, did I mention how cold the beers were? Trust me, we sampled a ton of them ;)

Will post some sunset photos as soon as possible.

Again- our stay was very memorable. Thanks again to Doug and his staff.

Love, Light, and Gratefulness,

Brad

Going to Verde Safari in El Nido is one of my highlights in 2012. It was a dream vacation come true! It was my first time to El Nido and everything was spectacular! The view during our island hopping activity is awesome and breath taking. Our stay at Verde Safari is even better. It is the perfect place to relax, unwind and get away with the busy life. Staying at Verde Safari is like being with nature and enjoying what it offers.
