“Good View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2013

Aside from exploring the shrine and the basement its historical account I enjoyed sitting in one of the limestone cliffs overlooking the neighboring islands. It was so beautiful that I forgot that I was afraid of heights. I stayed there until all my friends left and started calling me out from the bottom.

“Tour C, Matinloc Island & Shrine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013

This is part of the standard Tour C. Unfortunately, it is also a bit farther out in the open sea than I expected so I didn't appreciate the longish boat ride and (at that time) the very rough waters.
I was thankful when we finally got to dock at the island. Built as a shrine to Our Lady of Matinloc in the 80's, it certainly shows it's age. Unfortunately, it looks and feels like an abandoned structure. It has an eerie feel to it, not helped by the placement of the information materials about the island, which can be found on what looks like a basement in one of the structures, printed on small boards which of course you'll have to read in the dark. what amenities there once was (there used to be light fixtures and accommodation on the island) are now gone, but the shrine still stands, and, for catholics, can be a great place to visit in el nido for prayers and offerings. It was very quiet and conducive for prayers. great photo op from the top of the cliff or from what used to be the pier.

Just one of the many beautiful islands on Bacuit Bay. You will need a boat and an experienced guide to take you. Many spots to take great pictures

“A serene place”

It was an island touched by the Virgin Mary. We were dismayed how it was not maintained properly. It looked abandoned.

“Really cool abandoned monastary”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

We didn't even know this was on the itinerary for the Island Hopping we had signed up for, so needless to say we were quite amazed by this place. We docked with the small Bangka, and started exploring the small cove and the abandoned monastery located here. There were some really cool photo opportunities at this place, so remember to bring your camera.
