“Lovely experience”
Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

We stayed 3 nights here in August and had a lovely experience. Beautiful rooms with amazing views and plenty of privacy. It's not right in the centre of town so it's nice and quiet, and only a five minute tricycle ride at the most to get onto town for all the restaurants. I would stay here again over any of the places we saw on the beachfront.

This is a lovely place to stay. It is beautifully located on the hillside overlooking the bay. You are surrounded by greenery, butterflies and little birds. The breakfast each morning is excellent - delivered to our room was an unexpected treat! The rooms are clean and airy. The beds are great. Nice little swimming pool for cooling off after a hot day. You have to walk up and down the hill to the hotel as the taxi-tricycles are not powerful enough to climb the hill with passengers on board.

Room Tip: Overlooking only has a few rooms. We stayed in the villa on top of the hill. The extra climb up the...

When we booked this hotel the property was quite new and there were very few reviews. Our choices were the hippie hostels in town or the old money (and old construction) island hotels for $500 a night. This hotel is not just the best option in the middle price range, it is in my opinion the best option period. The rooms are large, of an interesting and unique design, and very well maintained, the service staff is very friendly and smiley (although the night security team seems to nod off intermittently, the owner mentioned he was planning on hiring a professional service manager from Manila soon), the location is very good and the owner/manager, Arnold, is a natural fit for the job.

The property is a short (4-5 minutes, about 50 cents) little ride from "downtown". It's not on the beach but instead on a hill overlooking the ocean. The best beaches are on the islands so you're not missing anything.

Arnold, a Frenchman fluent in the local language, replied to my many emails before we came, helped with transportation from PP (Use Day Tripper and book early), connected us to Jerome Pesnel at Palawan Divers (who is also French and had just bought the dive shop), called and arranged transportation/reservations for us at restaurants, etc. The property, layout, and maintenance is excellent, but the management is what elevates the hotel into what truly constitutes a 5 star experience.

My girlfriend Jeenyong loved the place as well, although she wanted to keep her review in English to avoid "Koreans discovering the place and yelling at the nice service staff". Her review is below:

I was kind of worry about before I got the place since resort appeared quite far from middle town in google map but it was very excellent decision to stay there. It was remarkablly excellent place to take a rest without any interupt. Its easy to get anyplace from resort by triciycle and it was quite and calm to enjoy vacation. Each resort has private balcony and excellent veiw for horizon. I can't forget sound of nature and drizzle of rain drop in early the morning.
Plus Arnold who owns the resort was very nice to helpful for us to enjoy every day and schelduled our trip would memorable. I definetly recommand this place to stay in El-nido, and I wish I would go back!!!

Room Tip: We had the pool villa, possibly listed as #1, this is the first villa up the stairs from the office...

I stayed in the cottage and it was a great room, spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was nice and very clean, the bed was very comfortable, but the best feature is the amazing view of the Bacuit Archipelago from the very comfortable terrace. Book well in advance as there is never availability on short notice!

Staying here right now. What a nice resort. Only 2 villas and 1 cottage available as off now but more to come! Spectacular view, very clean and comfortable rooms, nice pool and very polite and friendly staff. Only 5 minutes away from the town center and that is a major plus. No noise , no car nor tricycle sounds, high enough but easy access to the main road. A peacefulness all around with a superb surrounding of green and ocean. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The cottage is very private, perfect for a couple retreat and best views.

We stayed in this hotel in May and really loved this place! The view (even from the shower!) is amazing! And the owner makes everything to make your stay comfortable. The hotel is not close to the city but it's a good point as the city center may be too crowded. You just have to take a tricyle (which I personally enjoy a lot) and you're in the city, ready to enjoy your boat trip, a good restaurant on the beach or a crepe:-) We really recommend this hotel which made our stay in Palawan special!

Super enjoyed our stay in El Nido Overlooking. View from your Villa really is really amazing. Staff are courteous and helpful. Each Villa is magnificently designed that you'd really enjoy every minute of your stay. Arnold the owner answer your inquiries timely and really makes it a point to reach out to his guest. Would definitely recommend the place to anyone visiting El Nido. Resort is not far from town as well as the Van terminal so it's really accessible. Two thumbs up to Arnold and the staff, you really made our vacation ideal.

Room Tip: Choose the pool Villa for you to have a direct access to the infinity pool.
