“Charming resort, high standard service, staff very friendly.”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

Room is well decorated, has all the basic stuff you´ll need, very clean and quiet (even next to the restaurant it was very quiet), balcony is very charm and has a great view to the garden, the pool or the ocean, depends on which type of room you choose.
Food is amazing, we had different types of food (sea food, pasta, sandwich, sashimi) and they were all very delicious, and even for breakfast you have many good choice.
The beach in front of the resort is not the best in world, but they have boat trips to some beaches and lagoons that just look like paradise. Boat is well equipped, staff is very helpful, you don´t have nothing to worry, they get you towels, snorkel, fins, kayaks, drinks (cold water and juice) and also lunch, which was pretty amazing and delicious. It really worth the money.
Hidden and secret beaches, and cadlao, small and big lagoons were definitely the best places on the boat trip. And for snorkeling best places were Helicopter beach and Shimezu island.

Cadlao Resort is a real gem in the El Nido area. The setting outside of the town area is ideal, as the town is very crowded and a bit grotty so having the distance to retreat when you want to is perfect.

The rooms are clean, neat and basic. Nice large beds, fans only, quite spacious room and a cute little deck out the front. The only issue perhaps was the shower was rather dismal, but not that a big deal.

The garden set up is nice and the overflow pool is the winner as far as the property is concerned. A very easy spot to spend the day chilling - it was so quiet and peaceful! Only the one day when a few kids were in the pool did it get rather noisy, and quite a few of the guests were not impressed. I'd say its more suited to people looking for quiet than families.

The restaurant is great. A good variety of food, and very high standard. Loved the sashimi, grilled tuna, king prawns and seafood pasta. Delicious.

The staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful.

Great place to sit back and relax for a few days, and seemed to be the best option by far in the area.

BTW if you're someone that needs Wifi - this might not be the place for you. The connection is very slow and when everyone is using it you can't even load a page.

Our stay at Cadlao Resort was nothing short of fantastic. The location while a 10 minute walk away from EL Nido town itself actually provided a relief from the hustle and bustle of the restaurants and traffic on the beach especially at night. The free tricycle drops you off right on the corner of the commercial area itself which was a bonus. The hotel grounds itself were immaculate and very well maintained with hammocks dotted along the grounds and the in house restaurant was excellent. We were there for all our breakfasts and dinners and the value for money was worth it which we were surprised about. The view of looming Cadlao island itself was stunning from the vantage point of the resorts pool area, deck and restaurant. I really have to give a shout out to the staff at the hotel - especially the restaurant staff who really made our stay. We had our 1 year old baby daughter with us and they went out of their way to make her feel so welcome - she had great playmates the whole time. Chris, Maureen, Rhenz and another lady whose name escapes me now were wonderful. Our room which was very comfortable, clean and I appreciated the fact that the resort had their own generator as EL Nido cuts off its electricity from 6am - 2pm everyday. This was especially useful when needing to heat-up, prepare or store baby food which the kitchen staff were very generous with. I highly recommend it.

This tropical oasis is located a short 10 minute walk max from El Nido and is by far the best property we saw in the area. It has a wonderful ambience with great views from the rooms (even if the come at the expense of a little privacy - all rooms face on to a beautiful central garden).

We had 4 great nights there together with another 2 friends. The food in the restaurant is excellent and great value and we have yet to find anything to match it for the rest of our holiday in the Philippines (with perhaps the exception of the Sofitel in Manila). This is no doubt attributed to the high standards of the French owner.

The team is nothing short of fantastic, especially Chris (who never seems to stop working) and Mae in the restaurant and the lady at reception (whose name escapes me marissa, Maurine not sure).

So why 'almost paradise'? We booked Cadlao as part of a tour with Pal Ecotours. After confirming our booking and taking our deposit, they subsequently advised that " the room rate they quoted in the package was this years rate (2013) and they didn't anticipate their (cadlao's) rates would increase for 2014. And the increase? A whopping 63% (from PHP 4359 to PHP 7110 per night). By that stage we had our hearts set on staying at Cadlao so we reluctantly paid it.

At 2013 rates, maybe Cadlao was underpriced for what it offers, but I'm not sure that the increase was completely justified. One can only hope that there isn't a similar year on year increase for 2015 as this will no doubt put this lovely property out of reach for many people.

The resort was what we were looking for and more. The resort felt secluded but it was a short walk from town. The resort has a tricycle to drive you into town. The staff was helpful in answering my millions of questions. The staff allowed us to shower before we head to the airport because we spent the day beach hopping before our flight at 5pm. Now that is going the extra mile to make your clients happy. The rooms were clean with air conditioning (from 4pm-8am), ceiling fan and a nice patio area. My friend's room AC was not working while waiting for the AC to work they gave all 4 of us free dessert and drinks.

I loved that the island tour company they used picked us up at the resort. The first day they kayaked us in and the second day we walked on shallow waters but will need flip flops because there are reefs.

The food ordered was good and felt safer to eat than in town.

Cadlao Resort was a welcome sight after a 5 day boat trip (TAO, which was awesome!). The room was perfect for us (as was the very nice bathroom). Comfy bed, quiet location. We were told it was far from El Nido town but we found that wasn't true at all. (Maybe 15 min?) For non-walkers, there is a free tricycle service (which we used when checking in/out with our backpacks). I still think about my breakfasts of tapa and garlic rice. We did not have dinner there, but based on breakfast, my guess is dinner is just as good. Hanging out at the infinity pool with a cold San Mig or glass of wine at sunset was wonderful.

The staff really came through for us on our check-out day. Our flight to Manila was canceled due to weather (and we had international connections to make!). An extremely helpful Frenchman hanging out at the front office (perhaps the owner?) helped us get to Puerto Princesa to catch a different flight, letting us use his laptop. A flurry of phone calls were made to the bus terminal to make sure there were seats to PP. Thanks to him and the staff, we made it! And when we had trouble getting our money refunded for the canceled flight, once again, Cadlao came through for us. We can't thank them enough!

Spent four nights at Cadlao...
First and most the best food I have had in four trips to the Philippines. Traditional and international plates all with a personal trust give the restaurant a five star rating for me. Try the kinalow and the red snapper, suberb! Island hoping a must recommend executive tour A (kayaking in lagoons). Rooms are ok could do with a little more privacy, massages were great. Great location don't get put off by the free hotel shuttle!
