I didn't actually stay here as they were sold out, but I was impressed by the look of the place, it is a 2 story wooden building on the beachfront. We enquired about prices, around $100usd a night, the Reception lady was very friendly and polite. So.. I would stay there if I go to El Nido again....

Room Tip: Beachfront has to be good here. Balconies with a great view.

El Nido, by far, tops my most fave destinations in Phils. Many local tourists has the initial impression of the place as being so expensive and too isolated, therefore only a few of them has tried visiting the place so far. But through a bit of some research and reading online blogs, I found out that there's actually a lot of affordable accommodations already mushrooming along the town's popular Bacuit Bay, and Rosanna Cottages is one of them.

Not my first choice initially, but everything got easily booked up that time until I hit this resort. I contacted the owner, Ms. Rosanna, right away via email and instantly received a reply from her. She handled my queries well and gave instructions on how to finalize my reservation, including the pymt of an initial required deposit via bank transfer. Once you are in the El Nido shuttle terminal, the resort is just a mere five minutes walk from there. No need for a transpo ride unless you have a load of baggages with you. The resort is divided into two areas. Rooms/cottages with balconies in the beach area fronting the scenic Bacuit Bay (these are the most in-demand rooms so make sure you have your reservation advance) and the seemingly newly-constructed rooms right across the road. As usual, only room available was on the latter as the beach front ones were all occupied. Good thing about the rooms across the road is that they're more spacious that can occupy 4-5 single beds in it.. really suited for families and groups. I found them very basic yet clean, and the A/C works well. Some nuisances, however, is that in the middle of our stays, the bathroom drain got almost completely clogged bec. of accumulated sands in its water passage. As our room was the first unit nearest the road, the vehicular noise from the zooming vehicles/tricycles can be loudly heard esp. in the early morning. Wi-fi signal is also very weak in this area than that of the beach ones for obvious reason that the main router might be situated on the latter.

Inclusive in the room rate is a basic yet generous breakfast set (choice of American or Filipino breakfast). You can already request for it a night before if you want it to be prepared earlier than the usual. Do note that the resort does not have its own restaurant, so they'll just deliver the foods directly to your room. Excited for island tours after?? Almost all of the resorts out there offer island tour packages of the same standard fixed rate. However, in RC's case, I found their rates cheaper by a hundred pesos from the rest, but without compromising the quality of their tour guide services and the tours themselves. All things said, I must say that Rosanna Cottage is one of the resorts out there that provides a really good value for the money. You should try it too on your future El Nido visit.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms with the balconies on the beach front area (esp. the top floor). You will definite...

We booked 2 nights one day before with my girlfriend. We payed 2 000 Php/night for a room with double bed, private bathroom and private balcony (very usefull to hang out the clothes). the breakfast is included in the price and served in the room.
The room was very cleany (and we got a comfortable bed), with A/C and the staff was very nice.
You can seat, relax and watch TV in sofas at the front desk or go to the beach just in front of the hotel.
The best one we found in El nido (we tried 2 more).

I saw this nice small 2-storey building a month ago while I was swimming on the beach in El NIdo a month ago. I was amazed by the balcony facing the beach, it must have been nice just sitting there watching the happenings on the beach. So last week I traveled to El Nido once again, I walked in the place and luckily they have availability, it's not yet the peak season. I didn’t expect the rate for the rooms facing the ocean to be really reasonable.

Location – is perfect, right at the beach side and few steps away from all restaurants, bars, ministores, massage parlors, and everything that is in the center of the town, although once inside the hotel, it’s quiet, the only sound you hear at night is the sound of the ocean lulling you to sleep. From the bus terminal, ask any tricycle to take you to Rosanna’s cost 50 pesos for the whole vehicle, or pay 10 pesos if you care to walk few steps on the highway and hail a passing tricycle.

Building – it’s a 2 storey building with a large rooftop, beside it is another wooden building for guests who prefer to stay is a cottage-type 2-storey also. Nice high-ceilinged lobby where wifi is available, and where the reception is also located. In front of the building is already the beach sands for sunbathing. But if you're on the ground floor, then the sands is right infront of you, one step down.

Room – spanking clean room, shiny marble flooring, large bed, clean sheets and towels. The best part is the balcony on every room separated by sliding glass, 2 wooden chairs and table with an amazing view of the turquoise waters and green limestone mountains of the Bacuit Bay with couple of coconut trees on the foreground, priceless! Breakfasts are served on the balcony. Bathroom is good-sized and very clean. Don’t expect to find a TV though in most hotels in El Nido, in Rosanna’s, your TV is the spectacular 360 degrees view of the bay round the clock at your balcony.

Staff - The owner is friendly and helpful, as well as her cheerful assistant - Beth - who will make sure that you have a wonderful stay.

I couldn’t fault the hotel at all, the place is popular too so book well in advance if you like staying on the second floor, otherwise the ground level is equally nice and you don’t have to take the stairs.

Good breakfast included, water sold at the lobby priced similar to stores around.

I'll be back very soon and will be at Rosanna's again.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Get a room on the second floor if available, otherwise, rooms at the ground floor are also facing th...

This Filipino owned and operated place has four beach-front rooms with balcony, good for two-people, in a wooden two-story building, while directly across the road it has another two-story concrete building with eight more rooms, some good for four-people.

A new concrete three-story beach-side building is just being completed and will provide an upgraded Reception area and additional smallish rooms (some beach facing).

Our off-season rate for three-pax was just Ps1600, including breakfast for two - consisting of either two-pancakes, with butter & syrup, or what is known locally as a "Continental Breakfast (one-egg and three-slices of toast, with butter & jam).

Staff is friendly and accommodating, providing a large flask of hot water, cups and glasses on request. Room make-up is also on request (leave your key with Reception). Towels and linen are both fresh and in a good state of repair.

Laundry service is available at Ps70/kg. Other "tourist" services are offered, such as Island Hopping tours and motor-bike rental. There are sari-sari (convenience) stores nearby for all of your needs, from the wonderful Tanduay Rhum, San Miguel Pale Pilsen and sodas to soap and shampoo.

Also near-by are a couple of rustic cafe-style eateries while along the beach, in either direction, are restaurants offering good Filipino and European fare. Some place chairs, table and torches in the sand in the evening (ala Alona Beach, Bohol).

El Nido generally is rather cramped and ruled by the ubiquitous "tricycle"; these ones with flashy Toyota or other car "grills", running-lights and chromed car-style rear-view mirrors. A ride is 10-pesos, or 20-pesos for a private hire anywhere in the town. Rides further afield, perhaps to one of the accessible and beautiful white-sand beaches, is by negotiation. A ride from the bus terminal is 50-pesos including all the people and luggage you can manage to load.

The west-facing bay provides a magnificent view of unusual volcanic rock formations thrusting out of the sea found all around the area. The many small islands dotted outside the bay provide the basis for the island hopping mentioned earlier; many with lovely and secluded white-sand beaches and a few enchanted lagoons boasting crystal-clear waters.

The high-light of the day and evening experience is "Art Cafe", where quality souvenirs, beach clothing, sun-screen etc. are offered along with an excellent dining and entertainment experience each evening. Several beach-front restaurants offer "dining" on the beach, with candle-lit tables on the sand and a good selection of sea-food. Lobster was offered at Ps1500 per half-kilo.

In summary, El Nido suffers from poor government, offering electrical power for just 16-hours per day, helter-skelter building codes, puddled and dirt-laden streets. Access is by expensive private airplane or a 6-hour road trip from Puerto Princesa; offering 40-km of construction. The road will, one assumes, eventually be completed and the power problem eventually addressed.

But since my first visit, five years ago, there is scant sign of any Local Government involvement or understanding of how to exploit the natural beauty of El Nido and the natural friendliness and charm of it's residents.

DIVING? Read on...

The main attraction, beyond island hopping, is scuba diving; with a good choice of operators offering banca (outrigger style boats) or speed-boat access to dive-sites. I can recommend Sea Dog Diving which offers a very useful speed-boat, guide and full equipment rental at just Ps1000/dive (if you log more than six dives with them).

The scuba-diving is just OK, with most sites showing little sign of soft-coral life and large areas of dynamited hard-corals; making it difficult to get a really useful 60-minute dive without a disappointing finish.

It really seems inexcusable that the local officials do not yet accept that scuba divers, while El Nido's best source of income, are not satisfied to see the continued destruction of the surrounding area. I personally heard one day-time explosion and was thankful to be far away from any fishing boats. Corals and undersea "critter" life is very limited, but there are interesting clams, blue-spotted sting-rays and a reasonable appearance of the usual varieties of small reef-fish.

Room Tip: If you are booking early, ask for a beach-front room. If you are adventurous, just arrive in El Nido...

We initially planed 3 nights in El Nido, but sceneries, food and accomodation were that good that we extended it with 2 more nights.
Nice staff member, good location ( main street) and reasonnable price for low season : 800P for a big DBL room with private bathroom and fan and a balcony. It's a good deal.
They also offer a wide range of services: Island hopping ( just above the average price in town), kayak tours, transports and more...
Bad point is Internet: No signal in the room, you have to go to the "reception" and share the only one table with staff members and others customers.

We stayed in Rosanna's mid June 2013. The room we stayed in was big enough to accommodate 3 people, maybe 4. The beds were comfortable enough. The toilet and the washstand were cute. The bathroom and the place were clean. If you've read the other reviews here, you'd know that electricity in El NIdo is from 2pm to 6am. It will be good if your hotel has a generator. This one does. However, their generator is not enough to keep the aircon going.

With regard to location, the hotel has two (soon to be 3) buildings. One faces the sea and the other is across the street. Of course the seafront one is more expensive but I believe the view is well worth it.

While Rosanna's may have used to serve food, they don't anymore.

One thing I like about this place is that the staff, including Rosanna, are friendly. While we were there, one guest was complaining that no water was coming out of their room's faucet. Rosanna let that guest and his party take showers in another unoccupied room while they repaired the one in the guest's room.

One thing that marred my stay there was that our ceiling was leaking, due to heavy rains earlier that day. They weer not able to clear the puddles in the viewdeck above us so the water seeped thru the concrete. But I think plans are underway to renovate the building we stayed in.
Overall, our stay here was pleasant.

Room Tip: Definitely get a room that faces the sea!
