The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
The place is clean, restroom every room and a porch area to hang wet clothes or late night drinking.
Even though its old and 5min walk from the beach, its a haven for those trying to pinch every penny's (cent's) worth.

Very good price for 2, small cottage with a fan, toilet just okay, a bit stinky. Sleeping is a little hard to get with noise and heat but there is plenty of space out front of cottage, with a porch area to sit and then another outside area to have coffee and read etc. They leave you a flask of hot water every morning to make coffee and there is a good sized sink to wash clothes with plenty of clothes line space. Ticks the budget friendly but not for the mid range folks.

The place is located right at the foot of a limestone cliff. The location plus the native cottages makes the accommodation worth a try. The staff are accommodating and kind. Each room has basic amenities. It's kinda old, but clean. We stayed in fan room but we rarely use the fan as the weather was cool. The room that we occupied need repair as the ceiling are already dilapidated, same with the bathroom and its sink. It is a family-run business and they live within the compound which is an advantage as we can call them out anytime of the day in case we need of something. They are accommodating and kind. Will definitely stay again with them in the future.

Cliffside is one of the good backpackers accommodation in El Nido. It is budget friendly yet clean cottage with basic amenities. Staffs are very accommodating and kind. The experience of staying/sleeping in a native cottage at the foot of the limestone cliffs is great. It is a 5 minutes walk to the beach..accessible to the restaurants, bars, etc.
Some tips:
* electricity is off from 8 to 2 pm, it is the same for all accommodations in el Nido.
* during the night, mosquitos are very active, bring reppelants and you will be fine
* cash basis only

Room Tip: Air conditioned rooms are available.

Stayed at cliffside for a week and the price was great based on 2 sharing- p800 a night for a fan room with private toilet and patio. Run by a family the staff are super helpful and lovely. The cottages are basic (no flushing toilets and wifi is on and off) but they're clean and have fans. Electricity isn't on all night and the air con rooms are on the road making them noisy so not really worth it. Price seems high for then Philippines but I struggled to find anything less than p1500 a night elsewhere in el nido and this one has 3 beds! Avoid room 12 though there's a nightmare cockerel who goes off all night! It's a little walk out of town though so if you're coming home late at night as a female solo traveller then maybe stay closer to the beach. Staying with a friend again I would definitely come back! I had a great time there.

So glad after scouting around we ended up at Cliffside - really lovely family, very laid back and chilled out place at a good price. Its not that far from the sea front so no need to take tricycles and the location is stunning. Discount for long stays (ended up staying 10 days).. Look no further!

My friend & I stayed at Cliffside Cottages in March 2013, in a simple room with a double bed & a twin bed for 700 pesos per night. We did not prebook, we just walked up and were lucky to get a room for 3 nights without hassle. We intended to switch hotels as we already had something booked for the rest of our trip, but we found El Nido to be more expensive that expected and decided to save our pesos by staying at Cliffside for the remainder of our stay.

The location is beautiful - as the hotel name suggests, it is among the cliffs, and about a 7 minute walk to the beach. The family that owns Cliffside was always very friendly & hospitable.

The rooms are extremely basic - and I don't mean to sound as though I am complaining considering how cheap the rooms are - but the bathrooms were quite gross (see my pictures). The beds were comfortable, or at least 5 weeks in to a SE Asia trip, they felt comfy! There is zero sound proofing in the rooms, meaning we were listening to a band play for hours on end, late in to the night, with the cliffs seemingly echoing the noise making it sound even louder (our spouses had trouble imaging how loud the sound was, so we recorded it for them, and they were shocked by how loud it was!). our neighbors would wake us up in the middle of the night too (we were in bed by 11pm most nights thanks to busy days diving and island hopping!).

We did enjoy having a table, chairs, and balcony to sit on. They provide you with cups & hot water in a thermos each morning which is great for coffee or dishes. There is also a line to dry your clothes on, however it was so humid that my clothes & towels didn't end up drying!

Overall, I would opt to spend more money on nicer accommodation that is beach front should I return to El Nido. However, for people on a very low budget, Cliffside Cottages will certainly suffice.
