“All that you wish for in a basic environment”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

This place is just perfect. The owners are nice and helpful, the rooms are nice and clean, and the location is just wonderful.

It's a bit outside of El Nido itself though, so you always have to take a (5 to 10 minutes drive) trycicle to town. No problem at all though! They go by often and if not, they'll arrange one for you. Costs 15 pesos p.p. per ride. So that's nothing.

Also, beware of the brown-out that goes in the whole of El Nido. In Stunning Vistas they have a generator, but since they're eco oriented they only switch it on if necessary. Of course you can ask for it though.

When we were there, the satellite tv had stopped working on day 2. Had nothing to do with Stunning Vistas though, just with the fact that you're in a remote area.

I can highly recommend Stunning Vistas if you want a quiet place, with nice views, basically a private beach (not really but since it's so quiet actually it seems to be) and still close enough to El Nido itself.

I stayed with a bunch of friends for a couple of days and the hotel is right on the beach with a stunning view indeed. The place is amazing, very reasonable prices and the owner and stuff are very helpful. Highly recommended ;)

The hotel is located right on the beach. I stayed here for two nights. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. The staff was very helpful and informative. The owner Eden even assisted in making sure my last luggage. Let me state the luggage was lost at no fault of the hotel but they still went or of there way to help. The complex is a very good size. Not to large and not to small. The rooms were also a good size. It has a bed, a small couch, a desk, a fridge and a tv. The bathroom was not to small just right. This place had the best sunset in the world. A must see.

Hi eden,

El nido is great. Much better than alona beach in bohol.
People are very friendly in el nido and the restaurants are good. Alona Beach in bohol is a very touristic place, so when we come back to the phillipines we definitely choose for el nido.
Good to hear that there are almost loungechairs :)
Our flight with iti was easy to book from el nido to manilla, but from manilla to el nido was a little bit hard, because it was only possible to book it 5 days in advance.

We've been here last November 5 - 7 to celebrate our first anniversary. We choose this place because of it's ambiance and a paradise-like scenery. The place is so quiet at knight and a very calming and relaxing event at night. Breakfast is very good and also the crew and owners.
It's a very reasonable price for one-of-a-kind stay.

See you again stunning vista on 2013!

Room Tip: If you're going to stay here, I advise to send a deposit to reserve your rooms. Walk-in guests s...

Hi Schenly,

Thank you for writing a great review of Stunning Vistas Beach Resort.

We are glad that you had a good time in El Nido, even with the short stay. Were you able to go to Baker's Hill and buy some pasalubong?

Please do come back. There are lot to see and do in El Nido.

See you next time.

I spent 4 days here around October of last year & I just love the place. They have a small hut in front of the beach which has a very good view of Bacuit Bay. They serve good food -- particularly, adobo which i ordered twice during my stay. The owner & staff is friendly & helpful. But 4 days in a year is not just enough for El Nido so im coming back again this year and will definitely book with Stunning Vistas again.

Hi Arian,

Thank you for the review. Gary and I are pleased that you had a wonderful time in El Nido. That is what we are here for-- to offer our guests a memorable El Nido experience. We have added rooms and a bar, as well as new services-- such as fishing, stand up paddle board, mangrove river tours and hiking at the Bulalakaw water falls (not part of the inland tours that most tour operators offer). Please do come back and we'll give you a discounted rate.

Stunning Vistas is a basic beachfront hotel located about a 5 minute tricycle ride from El Nido along the main road (in Corong-Corong). Let me say first that I'm not that picky about my hotels (all I want is that they are clean, really) but here are my pros and cons about this property that we stayed 2 nights at:

Pros:
-good location away from the city with beach front
-cheerful and positive attitude of staff
-satellite TV with many channels in the room
-good air conditioning

Cons:
-got bitten by bed bugs (without a doubt it was from the Stunning Vistas bed)
-towels provided in the room were dirty with yellow stains
-shower head is weak and offers only a trickle of water to shower with, and is only lukewarm at best
-service is slow and dull (breakfast takes a while to make, and we were served a packet of instant coffee that was already opened, for instance)
-room decor is questionable (floor rugs tacked onto the walls and ceramic vases hanged up)
-there's the noise of roosters calling early in the morning and throughout the day

Overall, for the price we paid, I would not recommend staying at this property, especially because of the bed bug situation! You're better off paying a little more to get something more luxurious, OR, staying in a beachfront hotel in El Nido with similar quality for less money.

Room Tip: Be sure to check your bed for bed bugs or else you'll get bitten like I did!

Hi Wafflerica,

Thank you for your review. I will try to answer the issues you raised.
1. ABOUT THE BED BUGS. YOU ARE THE FIRST GUEST WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT THE BED BUGS. Are you sure you got it from Stunning Vistas Beach Resort? It could be that you got bitten by beach flies. Bed bugs usually are common on beds with bamboo floors or planks because they hide between the slats. We don' t have beds with bamboo floors/slabs. Could it be that you got it from the place you moved to in El Nido town? YOUR REVIEW IS VERY DAMAGING BECAUSE IT IS NOT TRUE. WE WOULD HAVE GLADLY RETURN YOUR MONEY IF YOU TOLD THE STAFF ABOUT THE BED BUGS THE FIRST NIGHT. As you have implied in your review, you were not even sure if you got it from Stunning Vistas Beach Resort.
2. THE DECORATIONS. The rugs in S-2 are from Oaxaca, Mexico, and the potteries are from San Carlos, Mexico, They are wall decors. Visit Mexico to get an idea of how those are used as decors. They have cultural significance and can be a terrific topic for discussion. I'M SORRY IT BOTHERED YOU. You are also the first one who commented about it. With our other guests, we enjoyed the discussion about those artwork.
3. THE COFFEE. WE SERVE BREWED COFFEE. Our staff asked your preference, why did you not tell him/her? We never served open packets of instant coffee. We do cut a small slit on the packet for easy opening because some of the guests have a hard time tearing off the packet.
4. THE ROOSTERS. I do apologize for them. They are across the road/lot and could be loud. We don't own them. We will talk to the neighbors about them.
5. BREAKFAST. We prepare food from scratch, (meaning no pre-cook or pre-mix) and on a first -come first-serve basis. If guests are in a hurry, they can pre-order the food in the evening, so that it will be ready when you go to the restaurant for breakfast.
6. THE SHOWER. We will have it checked.
7. THE PRICE. I bet you checked prices of other resorts before you booked with us. It was your choice. There are many choices in El Nido town.

We have a suggestion form in the room, we would appreciate it if you had informed the staff about the problems right away so we could take care of it right then. YOU COULD HAVE STAYED FREE.
