“Great relaxing place with beautiful views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

Nice relaxing place, friendly staff and good, clean cottages. From the terrace you can enjoy the amazing sunsets.

Good place for families with kids as well as for couples. For solo travelers it might be a bit quiet.

If you take a boat trip and don't want to be on the beach at the same time as the other boats which all follow the same route, opt for a private tour and change the order of the beaches visited.

Very easy to get to El Nido town by tricycle for food, a trip to El Nido cliff etc.
Dive shop is opposite the road.

Surely you can find cheaper alternatives in El Nido, but you cannot find better. This one worth every peso, very nice location, very quiet, but only a 50 PHP tricycle ride from the very center. And the sunsets are so amazing... Well, yes, if there are no clouds of course ;o) The owner is extremely helpful, he cares about everything that can make your stay enjoyable. Just one example: we were planning to go to our last one island hopping, tour "C" (also organized by them, for the same price as anywhere else, but departing directly from their beach, and serving much better lunch on the trips than anywhere else in the city), but we could not go due to the weather. Then the owner has immediately organized a short trekking on their private property for us!
As an additional service, if you go to the town, you do not have to care about the ride back, you just have to call them, and they will go and pick you up (btw 9pm-midnight)!
The only drawback that the sea just before the lodge is not really for swimming, when low tide, the water almost disappears.
So very well recommended, do not stay anywhere else, surely you will love it!
Thank you again Dave!

Room Tip: Definitely beachfront cottage, it really worth the slightly higher price.

Run by a nice English chap, this resort was a hidden gem. Corong Corong is way better than El Nido and the resort was right by the beach. Our room had a garden view. You can tell that Dave (the co-owner with his Filipino wife) is really passionate about nature (butterflies) and keeps the place neat and nice.

The food, though, could do with some improvement. The breakfast was not great to say the least, but we seldom ate there anyway.

Room Tip: We stayed in a garden view room with only a fan. It was perfectly good and not at all hot. The bed a...

This place is 3 km from busy el nido town ( 20 pesos per person with tuk tuk) its near the beach, ( coron coron beach) but the beach isn't great, almost disappears during high tide. the owner Dave is really helpful and chatty. The food is great but it takes a looong time to get the food. Waited 2 hours one time. Have the chicken curry!

El Nido is a remote town on the small island of Palawan in the Philippines which is a poor third world country. Travelers must consider this as they choose lodging- do your homework. You are not going to find a McDonalds or Hilton in El Nido- if you need the amenities of such places- travel to another destination. There are no ATMs in El Nido, most places do not take credit cards and the power is turned off from 6am until 2pm- and turned back on IF the town generator is working. This is not a place for travelers that need hand-holding. That being said I have an issue with the bad reviews of this resort that complain of bugs and low security. NEWSFLASH: Tropical islands have bugs- insect repellant is recommended! The security at Greenviews is of a different variety. At night the entire complex is patrolled by people and guarded by dogs. During the day- you may not know this but the entire staff is watching over the entire complex. They are very aware of the comings and goings. At one point I walked up to the wrong cottage and a staff member very politely caught me on the stairs and advised I was going into the wrong cottage (my key would not have worked) and pointed me in the right direction. If you are a sturdy traveler ready to explore the charm and beauty of a place like El Nido- Greenviews is ideal. My husband and I stayed one week in an aircon cottage and truly enjoyed our time there. The grounds are beautiful, immaculately kept by the staff with amazing flowers bursting into bloom with exotic butterflies flitting about. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful and the food was delicious! I have a gluten intolerance and they were able to accommodate my needs by putting all my food orders through the owner's wife who screened for gluten. My only real complaint- which is more my personal coffee snobbery- is the brewed coffee was marginal so we needed to head into town for breakfast as we cannot drink instant nor marginal coffee. (Best coffee in El Nido is easily at La Salangane, 3min trike ride from Greenviews). Greenviews is where you stay if you appreciate beautiful grounds, clean rooms, good food, friendly people, sunsets and a little more quiet than the proper town, which roars with trikes day and night. If you are expecting the absolute lap of luxury try Cadlao Resort (very expensive). Greenviews has character, charm and everything the sturdy traveler could need, bring your own insect repellant and you'll have a great time!! The wimpy squeemish traveler who cannot handle mosquitoes and different ways of life may want to go to the Caribbean as the Philippines is a poor third world country and no amount of window locks or pristine sheets will change that.

Room Tip: Check when the local founders festival is as there are two to three nights of INSANELY loud techno u...

My wife and I had a great 6 days at Greenviews Resort. David Gooding is a great host, the resort is teeming with plants and the butterflies they were meant to attract and various other animals that poke out from the shrubbery. All of the staff are friendly, professional, courteous and very helpful. Sometimes you need to wave a bit to get their attention and another beer, but I'd rather that than them hovering over your table.

The 2nd story bar/restaurant is very welcoming and airy with an excellent view of Corong-corong bay and the sunset. We found it a good way to meet other travelers or to have a quiet intimate dinner. The food was some of the best and varied we had in 3 weeks in the Philippines and the beer is cold. Don't miss the giant gecko's (Tukos) that visit in the evening - they are as beautiful as they are big.

All of the day trips (offered in El Nido are offered at the resort for very similar pricing. As the resort faces the destinations of the standard tours, I would say it is more conveniently situated for the tours meaning more time touring, less time getting there. The tour assistants are very professional and helpful and the lunch choices (veg, fish, squid, chicken or beef) are great and filling. A dry bag (even a big Ziplock freezer bag) is recommended for camera's and other sensitive items as some waves do occasionally splash into the boat depending on the weather.

The beach out front is beautiful but not ideal for swimming as the water is quite shallow for a great distance and their are some hazards that can be tread on (reef shoes recommended). The resort offers a free van trip to another IDEAL swimming beach about 20 minute walk away that is recommended (be careful here to as there are some hazards as well but are quite obvious).

We stayed in two different cottages. Cottage 6 is one of two directly facing the beach & view. The other cottage was directly behind it. As the view of the beach and sunset is obscured with coconuts and other plants, I didn't feel it was necessary to recommend #6 over the others. #6 is also close to the house on the neighbouring property and can have some smoke from their cooking fire and the usual noise of daily Filipina family life. Yes, there are roosters about, but we had roosters near our hotel in downtown Manila so one has to smile and get along.

The cottages were very clean - especially for bamboo/thatch. No problems with dirt or insects in either cottage. Some ants traveled the balcony (welcome to the tropics!).

We had aircon but typically used only the fan by choice. We had a mountain of laundry washed and it was very clean and folded for a reasonable price; give yourself a day or so as it is hung to dry. Motorccycles & motor scooters are available for rent from another business directly out front (be sure to ask for a rate matching the rates in El Nido town and save a wee bit ;)

There were only a very few mosquito's when we visited in mid December but they really were not an issue after a wee bit of repellent on the lower legs on some nights.

Our experience at Greenviews as the highlight of our 3 week vacation and I would go back in a heartbeat as well as recommend it to friends.

A few tips from the owner/manager:
- book well in advance for mid-December to April (busiest season)
- the front desk will happily take valuables and documents safe keeping

Room Tip: See comments above. Beach front is nice but the view is generally obscured by vegetation.

We stayed here over Christmas and had a really lovely time. The location is perfect, just on the beach with superb views and absolutely amazing sunsets. The gardens are beautifully landscaped with so many lovely plants, bushes and orchids, and as a result of this the most amazing butterflies.
The cottages are well appointed, good shower rooms and ours had a hot water shower ( the electricity goes off between 6am and around 3pm, so worth getting up at 5.50 to have a hot shower and then go back to bed ! Although also plenty of hot water in the evening
The wifi also works only when there is electricity , but the range is good and extended as far as our room .( If you need wifi during the day then the Art Cafe in El Nido has theirs working from a generator is is on all the time)
Our cottage was cleaned thoroughly every day and we had clean sheets and a great selection of fluffy fresh towels every 2 days.
We found the mosquito screens for the windows fine, the odd rogue mosquito found its way in but this is the case with all beech huts etc.
It does get a bit noisy as dawn is breaking , cockerels crowing , animals waking but that's really rather nice.
The food here is really superb but the only downside is the restaurant service, which was poor, slow and disorganised - but the food was so good that we ate here a lot and just factored in the wait and expected that not everything that you ordered would arrive , and if there was a long wait we chased up the order.
As a contrast the room cleaning/ servicing is extremely thorough and well organised.
If they can get the restaurant and bar service to be better then this place will be PERFECT.
Greenviews is in Corong Corong , just a very short tricycle ride from El Nido town ( only 30 to 40 p - depending on the driver! ) , and much better for being away from the hustle and bustle.
We took 2 of the island hopping tours organised by Greenviews and these were really amazing . We hired the boat just for ourselves and could work to our own schedule . Jesse our boatman was just fantastic ( he is independent as is hired in when Greenviews boats are fully booked ) , and he worked our trip the opposite way to most of the boats and set off early to get to the best spots first before the other boats arrived. He managed to find us an island just to ourselves for our Christmas Day lunch stop and bbq'd a real feast of pork, chicken, egg plant with rice and salad followed by fresh pineapple - all laid out on a low table with tablecloth on the beach. Vey special.
We also had a lovely buffet on Christmas Eve at the resort.
Dave , the english owner is a lovely guy, somewhat disorganised but his heart is in the right place, and he got up early to see us off when we were leaving and very kindly had us driven to the port by one of his staff.
This is a really lovely place ,perfectly situated and i would recommend it to others .It is good value for the high level of accommodation.

Room Tip: We had cottage 1 , right at the front only 3 metres or so from the beach , with the balcony overlook...
