“Peaceful place to stay, but bring extra cash”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

In my opinion, this is one of the more peaceful areas to stay in when traveling in Mindoro Oriental. I rented a cottage, which was very comfortable and reasonably priced, with a modern bathroom, lighting and even cable TV (if you would want to watch it in a place like this), porch and clothesline for wet bathing suits and towels. You can also rent rooms in their largish hotel-style building. There was nothing like going to sleep by the sounds of the waves each evening, and the beach was quite clean. The only real noise came from the Korean school kids at the neighboring resort, but this was not a significant disturbance. I spent most of my time hanging out at the resort, swimming and reading books, and eating in their decent restaurant. You're also only a 10-minute walk over some rocks to neighboring White Beach for more restaurants, shops and loud music (inaudible at this resort, by the way). There is a free shuttle from the bangka ports, which I hadn't realized at first, but fortunately found out about from some other travelers who were also on their way here. Although they accept credit cards, the machine wasn't working when it was time to leave, but fortunately I had some enough extra cash to pay and leave via their shuttle in time to catch the early morning boat.

Room Tip: If you're coming by boat into Sabang or Puerto Galera, request pick-up service. It's much t...

Last April 27-29 me my kids and officemates went to Puerto Galera after almost one year of planning . We decided to stay here in Tamaraw because of the good reviews and the number of guest a room can accommodate. It's a beach front resort , so no hassle . There's a few people and for me privacy is very important! The rooms were clean and the restrooms were clean , no insects or roaches! My kids and I enjoyed the clean beach . The food was great tasting but a little pricey, however, the price of food in White Beach restos has the same rate! They have cottages if you want to cook . The resort staff were nice , but at night you cant order any food the front desk was closed . Its a little far from the White Beach where the night life is, so my officemates would take the trike to get there and it's just 10 minutes away . If you would walk it would take 15-20 minutes , depends on how fast you walk . All in all , it was a very relaxing stay and I highly recommend this resort specially for travellers who wants to relax in a quiet beach front resort to see the sunset! I cant wait to return !

The hotel was basic but very friendly, clean and quiet. Just what we needed after a week helping street kids in Manila

The first time we went to this resort was because everything else was booked in Puerto Galera. But we were so happy with it, that we CHOSE to go to Tamaraw Beach Resort the second time we went there!

The best part about this resort is that they have their own private beach! The beach is secluded, quiet & serene, but it is still not too far away from the night life. You can take a tricycle from & reach White Beach in a few minutes. (The tricycle drivers might quote a higher fare to foreigners, but you can bargain it down to a reasonable rate before starting your ride). As an alternative, you can also chose to walk to White Beach. We did that once & it was a short, easy walk.

Hospitality: Like most places in the Philippines, this resort is run by nice people. The staff were friendly & warm.

Food: The food was tasty & not very expensive either. In case you are tired from partying the previous night, you can wake up to a great breakfast! I'm not sure if they serve breakfast/ meals in the rooms, but I would rather go to their small dining area on the beach & enjoy my food with a good sea view.

Massage on the beach: One of the things I enjoyed is a massage on the beach – at very low rates. They have kept some beach loungers where you can get your massage, with no noise except for the sound of the waves. This can be followed with a refreshing glass of Kalamansi juice for a small price.

Overall a great weekend getaway. I will surely go there again if I get an opportunity, and will suggest this resort to all my friends!

Room Tip: Their cottages are actually right on the beach. They also have rooms in a building, but there is no...

The quiet and private beach front is what captivated us in this resort. If you are looking for a place to relax on the beach, quiet time and good food, this is the place to go, not to mention reasonably priced. If you ever feel like mingling, shopping and experiencing the bustling nightlife,, it's a short dstance from Puerto Galera's White beach, where the action is..then you can always go back to your room or just chill in Tamaraw Beach Resort's private beach to relax again.

We were just in a basic fan room which was average, although we did look into a few other rooms when passing by and they did look very nice. It is in a quiet location about 5 minutes tricycle ride away from White beach which is the main happening with all the bars and restaurants, so yes if you want something quiet then this is the right place. Has a nice little beach, although has a lot of shells on the sand. The highlight of this resort is definitely the restaurant as the food there is delicious which we didn't really feel the need to leave and go to White Beach for food as they have a large variety and is all delicious. I recommend trying their Chicken Adobo and the Beef Curry as these were my favourites; my boyfriend repeatedly ordered the Pork Cordon Bleu which was delicious too. We would definitely return to Tamaraw again, maybe when we aren't on to much of a budget and can upgrade to a better room with A/C as it does get pretty hot.

Room Tip: If you are planning on doing diving in Puerto Galera, just know that most of the dive centres are ov...
