“Good Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

The rooms are a bit basic and the food in the restaurants is average but the overall experience is good value for money.

I took a minibus transfer from Manila and after a two hour drive took a boat ride across to the hotel which was about one hour. The shuttle bus is okay, a little dull but the bus was air-conditioned and as comfortable as can be expected. The boat ride is reasonably fun but I imagine it could get a bit choppy if the weather is bad.

The resort itself is clean and was very quiet when I stayed. The staff are very friendly and there is a lot of effort put in to try and keep guests entertained.

The spa was good value and fitted in with the overall feel of the resort, It feels almost family-run and whether you like your stay here will depend on the type of holiday you are looking for. For a basic but relaxing stay that offers good value for money then I would recommend Coco Beach. If you need more luxuries then you may want look elsewhere.

We stayed here for 10 days and wish we stayed here longer. Fantastic for kids and lots to do. The free boat rides to surrounding islands is a big plus for this resort because all others will charge you around P1500 just to go around the corner.

We chose the hilltop lofts mainly for the view. We loved it even if we had to walk up 225 steps to get there. If my 5 and 3 yr olds can walk it, no one else should complain.

There is only one restaurant with a limited menu but it was enough for our 10 day stay. Prices for food and alcohol was unbelievably good...so we drank cocktails everyday :) The pool is awesome. Our kids loved the kids pool with a slide. The resort shop also sells floaties, googles and beachwear if you need them. You cannot fault the staff as they are so friendly. awesome buffet brekky too.

the stretch of beach is nice and for the resort only. It's pebbly but nice and sandy towards the resort itself. They have a snorkelling channel as well and you can hire snorkels for P150/day.

the biggest advantage with this resort is that it is rather exclusive and there is no adjacent resort, which means you wont get other visitors.

Room Tip: Hilltop rooms have hot water. The ones closer to the beach dont. Bring mozzie repellent or patches.

When we went here years ago I was with my family, 2 cousins and 2 of our helpers. As far as i remember i was in highschool back then 5-6 years ago i think?

Ohwell it was my first time at Puerto Galera and I love it because I stayed in a beautiful place as far as i remember as soon as we got off the boat the hotel staff was there all smiles with the welcome drink which i forgot what is it. After which we went to the reception already and getting ready to check in.

With our accommodation. I love there cottage. Even though its hilltop the room was really nice. Complete amenities and they have a veranda as well what i love the most is the swing in each cottage not to mention we got 2 cottage one is for us kids, cousins and helpers which has an upper and lower floor and the other is for my parents. The cottagd was big btw i remember we played bahay bahayan there. Lol. The fact of the cottage being in a hilltop is really tiring! We stayed there 4 days 3 nights but my mom told me that our reservation was supposed to be 7 days and 6nights but because our room was so high and there was no avail rooms already we chose to go home. Too bad. But hey they did return the hold for the next 3 days. Haha!

With the location of the resort itself it was really quiet and peaceful maybe thats why my parents loved it as well you need to ride a boat for you to go to the market and buy pasalubongs. And for the other sight seeing and for you to swim jin the beach we went to a different island. But the beach was nice as well in coco resort white sand clear water its just that there were a lot of boats in the resort.

Food wise im sorry but i cannot remember what the taste is but i know we ordered filipino cuisines and we had fresh buko juice from the buko shell itself. Lol. ^_^

Im planning to go back here by summer of 2013 and this time ill go with my boyfriend hopefully he will love it because i myself love it here!

We had lots of pictures when we stayef here its just that it was old school we used polaroid camera and cameras with film. Lol.

Coco beach is about an hour drive and a 45 mins boat ride away from Manila. Its a resort on a small island and is away from any shopping places or any pubs/clubs. The resort is huge with different types of room. Check their website and select which rooms suits the best to you.

The food at the resort is nice, a bit expensive as per other filipino establishments. The resort has a nice pool, a diving school, and a host of other activities. Its a quiet place where one can really relax. The beach is not that great though and is full of rocks, so one won't enjoy swimming that much.

The staff at the resort is nice and friendly.

Overall, a good stay and a nice vacation.

After a seemingly endless trip to the resort [by land and water], we finally reached it. Fresh coco juice and shell necklaces were served as welcome drinks and token. Then we were led to our cottage that sitting atop the hill. I love the cottage, it may be simple and basic, but the view is spectacular. They're made with natural materials, and it also reminds me of a tree house. The staff are really nice, they treated everyone equally, local or foreign guests. And it's also nice to know about Coco Beach's Service Family concept.

More notes:

Breakfast is hearty [buffet style]. Homemade soaps are provided [this i personally love]. No TV [you won't need one anyways] and aircon [it gets really cold at night]. Really quiet, cottages are situated strategically apart from each other [so this also makes a perfect "thinking place."] 2 pools, one is located at the hilltop.

Hammocks and huts are scattered near the beach.

Highly recommended for couples and honeymooners and people who just wants to be one with nature.

Room Tip: Hilltop rooms are recommended. But you need to walk a good 100+ steps to reach it. Perfect exercise...

The staff, which were local families living within the resort, were very very warm and helpful, the place was superbly beautiful (I especially love their cottages), and the food, although a bit pricey for a backpacker, was not that bad too!

They also have bonus boat tours everyday, two pools and a lot lot more at their vicinity.

Coco beach is the perfect getaway for couples.

Room Tip: The ones on top of the hill are the best, nice view, quiet atmosphere
