“its a bonus if you arrive in Luca's”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

You might be intriguing why its a bonus. Because it takes effort and sunburn to get to this place. Luca's Italian restaurant is located at the end of Talipanan Beach, kilometers of walk from White Beach, a long stretch of swimming area. Again, its a bonus because when you intend to go to Luca's, you will have to walk for kilometers, and will pass by different resorts and restaurants-- so its a kind of Puerto Galera tour.. Plus along the way, you will meet the original Filipinos THE MANGYAN.. This ethnic group lives in a village in the Talipanan Beach, and dont be scared of them.. Its a very good idea for picture-taking especially for couples and group of friends.

Luca's serves good Italian food, their place is crowded with diners. But the foreign owners are not friendly. They dont mind the people coming in and out of the restaurant, even Europeans. Our lunch was good and of value. but other than that, the place is nice, and there is scenic view of the entire talipanan and white beach So, try it as an adventure!!!!
and if ever youre already too tired to walk back to White beach, an option will be to ride a tricycle.

“Worst Experience Ever”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

Visiting this resto broke our supposed to be relaxing vacation. The service was awful, to the point that the server even nastily answered one of my friends who asked/updated our order.

After waiting for one and half our, one of my friend ask if our order was almost done, one of the staff answered with a snarl, "Tapos na, hintayin nyu nalang! (It's done, just wait!)"

Our food was served after another one and half hour - so that's three hours in total, our lunch turned into snack, and we received no apologies or whatsoever. Again, the staff never smiles, they all have frowns on their faces, and they knew nothing about customer service.

Female owner wore a grumpy expression as well, and never bother to correct her employees with their attitude.

Food might be somewhat good, but after we were treated like that, we can't even finish eating it at the end.

It's like we could not even taste the food with how upset we were. The beatiful scenery did not compensate either.

“Decent food, horrible service and attitudes.”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

I wrote a review for Luca's on their "hotel" site as well because I honestly thing they go hand in hand. The food was okay. The price of the food was okay. The service was horrible. Don't expect even as little as a greeting if you come here. The owner was visible, yet was being loud with what appeared to be his family, ignoring any customers. I don't want to hear anyone say "well that's how it is here" because it is not. We received awesome friendly service at many of the other local eateries.

“You would think my picture would tell a million words...but there is more bad news!”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

Like the contributor before me (John G)...who i think may have been there the same day as us...the restaurant was recommended by locals and they would have been appauled to see the service and food we were served.....

Lets start with the service......

Smiling is free....having to wait 15 minutes to be served and then only bringing half the drinks......and the waitress had almost no english.....or prior experince in hospitality it would appear...unlike the majority of the waiters in Puerto Galera who are great!

The food......we too were not able to order any of the bread.....the seafood pizza was selected because the lovely Chinese group next to us were served a great looking seafood pizza with all the standard toppings.....HOWEVER THAT WAS NOT WHAT WE WERE SERVED....

After well over 1 hour waiting...we were starving.....this thing came out which was a base with 40++ Clams, 3 small sqashed prawns which looked like they were off so we didnt eat them......on calamarie ring.

WHAT A PIZZA....

Needless to say, not a cent as a tip, despite there attempt to break up the change to as many notes and coins as possible......but here is a tip for their business.....for some reason the locals are clearly favoured here.......Dont reward such business with your business.

“Not up to expectations”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

This restaurant was recommended by locals and has mostly good reviews. However our experience was ordinary at best.
Service was appaling and we had to follow up our drink orders several times (5 with the first round) before they eventually came and were then incomlete. Yes the restaurant was busy but they clearly either did not have enough staff or their staff were unable to handle the level of custom.
Food took a long time and while that was expected because they were busy, they did not have any garlic bread or or even bread rolls to carry us throught the wait. The bread we saw was for "special" orders only and they would not even sell it to us.
When the pizzas eventually came the best I can say is the base was nice. The pizzas were tasteless and forgetable.
Coupled with the walk up the rutted track to get there, this was an experience we prefer to forget and certainly a restaurant we will not return to.
