“Part of organised tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2013

The tour started out very well but when we arrived at the falls we were greeted by women wearing vendor ID. they STUCK by our side from then. Lucky the price of the caraboa ride was incorporated in the tour cost. Some people chose to walk the distance to the falls all the time being supported by the vendor women. Our tour guide organised our lunch while we swam, the vendors sat to the side. When it was time to pack up and leave the vendors were quite adamant they we buy from their stalls to help with the family income. prices were incredibly high and the quality very poor. So feeling sorry for them l showed an interest in their goods and was then harassed until l purchased something l then walked very quickly away and did not look at anything else. The vendors really spoilt a lovely scenic spot .

“Beautiful Place!”

Had a great time swimming in the lagoon here and the vendors although nice were a bit pushy about selling their wares at times but I understand they're just trying to make a living, all in all had a great time there!

“Has potential...but is ruined by greedy vendors”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

Got married in the Philippines recently. Only had a couple weeks to accomplish that, so everything was hurry hurry and I couldn't really "plan" anything in advance. I'd heard about puerto galera though, and thought it might be fun to visit for a couple of days. Arrived in PG not really prepared as I usually would be. Local motel owner suggested a guided tour of a few attractions, including a couple of waterfalls. It sounded like a good idea...a whole day of entertainment for about 60 bucks, including transportation.
The highlight of the day was supposed to be something called "Hidden Paradise" (Tukuran Falls, now that I've been there)
When we arrived, we had to pay for a ride on a ox cart (what I'd call it) although the animal was called carabow or something like that by the locals. Very bumpy ride.
At the beginning of the ride, I should have known we were in trouble. As soon as the cart started moving, about a half-dozen young filipina ladies with "vendor" IDs started walking behind us. One of them struck up a conversation with us along the way.
The falls were pretty, but we were constantly hassled by the vendors. They tried to pull about every scam imaginable on us. Telling us they only came out to the falls for US, telling us they couldn't eat if we didn't buy from "my" table (like all the tables are not from the same company...give me a break) I got a very good workout that day just from telling girls over and over and over again that I was definitely NOT interested.
This place might be OK for the local filipinos. But if you look Western at all, this is a place to AVOID. It is essentially just a tourist trap. It could be enjoyable if the vendors were required to stay at least 300 meters away from the actual falls, maybe...
But the presence of the very pushy, dishonest vendors really ruins this particular attraction.

“Entrance fee?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

There were a bunch of teenage boys all running madly around. The locals charged us an "Entrance Fee" of 20 each.

“Lovely”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

Done this as a trip from Big La Laguna Beach, was amazing! Bit of a walk to get to the falls but well worth it! Lunch was included and we ate it off the big massive leaves, no plates required which was also a great experience. Our guides stopped a few time and we got to taste the cocoa beans (not the beans itself but the outer layer of them, don't know what it's called), was really sweet and so refreshing in the heat. Would recommend doing this trip if anywhere in this vicinity.
