“Mt. Bulusan and Lake Bulusan are twin attraction in Sorsogon Province”
Review of Mount Bulusan

Reviewed May 20, 2013

We left Legazpi City at 3 o' clock pm and reached the municipality of Bulusan at around six in the evening. We checked-in at a residence house just across the police station owned by Philip. Each air conditioned room cost you Php 1,000.00/day. No breakfast since it is good for transient visitors only. The room could accommodate at least four to six persons. There is no charge for an extra bed!!! Just tell the receptionist how many people will accommodate the room and they will provide you with the bed and bed dings. We had our dinner at Fulo Hot Spring, that is 8 kilometers away from the place we stayed.

The next day was a big day for us because we are to visit the most popular attraction in Bulusan - Lake Bulusan with Mt. Bulusan at the background. The distance from the highway is about 300 meters. Upon entering the site you will be mesmerized by the beauty of nature. A lot of trees abound the area and everywhere is green. The fauna is indeed very alive and you will appreciate what nature is indeed all about. Upon reaching the area, an entrance fee of PHP 20.00 is charged for every person and a parking fee of PHP 15.00 for the vehicle.

Alas!!! You will be startled by the beauty of the Lake and Mountain...... The serenity and its beauty of Mother Nature will captivate and magnetized you. Indeed, this is one of the best attractions you will add in your map list trip!!! There are different rides you can choose from: boat riding, kayaking and tripaddling as I call it. We opted for the first and second rides. Me and my daughter enjoyed the kayaking very much that we tried for the second round. Kayaking ride cost you PHP 500.00 good for two persons. On the other hand, boat riding cost you 6 hundred pesos good for 5 - 6 persons. If you want to appreciate the surroundings...... An Eco trail was made for you to trek-in the perimeter area... It will take a person 45 to 1 hr. to finish the circumferential Eco-trail!!!

We had our lunch at the only gazebo in the area. You have to bring your own food as no one is selling. BTW, this attraction is run by the Local Government of Bulusan.... Indeed a great revenue for them. I will really not forget this wonderful nature given to humankind. The me and women of Bulusan from different sectors of society have pulled there efforts to make this place a better attraction to visit. Kudos to these great people!

This is highly recommended to local and international tourists. Come and visit this awesome place. It is worthy coming back and forth.

Mount Bulusan is an active volcano in the Philippines. Located in the province of Sorsogon, it takes about 16 hours to travel by land from Manila. If you take a plane ride to Legaspi, Bulusan should take about another 3-4 hours by land.

The Bulusan Volcano Natural Park also hosts Bulusan lake. When we visited Mt Bulusan and Bulusan lake, we didn't expect to see such a serene and wonderful place. The place had been protected well by the communities surrounding dueto their vigilance in ensuring the the water in the lake remains clean, the forest that surround the lake provide the ecosystem for a host of various flora and fauna.

There are various activities that can be done at the Bulusan Volcano Natural Park. Canoeing, Trail hiking, Swimming, and even just to take in the fresh cool air is really worth the visit. Whether you are a nature lover or simply looking for a quiet place to unwinnd and recollect yourself, Bulusan is a place you could consider. Just be ready for the long trip.

We only stayed overnight in Bulusan in a place called Balay-Buhay sa Uma which is also a great place in itself.
