Duta Garden was our first hotel during our travels through Java and we were absolutely thrilled with it.

We had notified the hotel in advance that we would be arriving on the night train from Jakarta at approx. 3.30am and they arranged for one of their staff to wait up to greet us when we arrived. Thoughtfully he only requested us to fill out minimal details as it was so late and then showed us to our room.

The hotel itself is beautiful - quite compact but perfectly formed. It is a number of two storey blocks aurrounding the central pool area. All the walkways are 'stepping stones' through lush gardens, fish ponds or around the pool.

The bedroom and bathroom was not the most modern but was comfortable, spotlessly clean and the balcony had a lovely view over the pool / garden area. The whole feel of the hotel was very serene and relaxing - it really was difficult to believe you were in the middle of Yogyakarta which is otherwise a very bustling town.

Breakfast was fine - as much nasi goreng (indonesian fried rice), toast, fruit, juices and tea and coffee as you liked and served until 10.30am.

The staff were extremely attentive - they would take note of when people arrived back at the hotel in the afternoon and bring complimentary afternoon tea and cakes either to your room or to the pool depending on where you were. the front desk was also a tourist information desk and the staff spoke fluent English and were extremely helpful. We booked our onwards tour / travel through them with no fee involved and they also helpfully called to one of our forthcoming hotels to explain in Indonesian that we would be arriving early and arrange our reservation at no cost more than the phonecall. As mentioned in previous reviews the free internet usage in the lobby was also great.

Although there was no bar / restaurant area the hotel did provide room service so you could order a nice cold Bintang to your room to enjoy on the balcony at the end of the day.

We were thrilled with the Duta Garden and it certainly set a president for the hotels we were due to visit on the remainder of our trip! Would absolutely recommend this to anyone.

Duta Garden met all of my needs for a comfortable stay in Jogja. The pool is just as nice as it looks on their website. The manmade waterfall running into it created a great ambiance, and it was a wonderful place to sit and relax. Duta Garden also had free internet access from a single terminal in the lobby. They were able to book all of our tours for us at no extra fee for such places as Borobudur and Prambanan which was convenient.
The breakfast was so-so, usually cold, as we arrived towards the end of their time window. The room itself was nothing special, a bit worn down, but no problems Cold A/C. I paid $38 for their top level room which seemed like a good value, though Jogja is a veryyy cheap city.
A 3 minute walk brought us to Prawirotaman street with lots of restaurants and shops, so excellent location. I'd certainly stay again.

This is one of the finest hotels I've ever been to. It's cosy and intimate and lovely... u'll definitely fall in love with its ambience at first sight! I just came back from Jogja with my friends and this was where we stayed for 4 days and 3 nights. Everything here seems almost perfect.. it's breathtaking and awesomely superb!
Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Transportation is easy here as there are trishaws in front of the hotel. Getting a cab to town is also easy as it is just a phone call away. It takes about 10 minutes from this hotel to the popular tourists spot, Malioboro, by cab.
The waterfall pool is lovely although small. The whole place is beautifully planted with green trees, there are even birds placed in cages around the hotel. All these attributes bring us close to nature.
Overall I find this place a perfect getaway for people of all ages and is a must for those who are travelling to Jogja.

Located in quiet road just north of the Prawirotaman streets. Easy becak ride to Kraton and main sites of Jogja.

Really pretty garden of waterfalls and fish-filled pools that weave round the rooms and the central swimming pool. Very quiet, just an occasional whistling pigeon circling at sunset. True oasis of calm.

Rooms are large and reasonably furnished with semi-open bathrooms at rear. Perhaps a bit closely packed together, but this is the middle of a city.

Away from the traffic of Prawirotaman but in easy walking distance of bars and restaurants. I recommend Via Via and the Ministry of Coffee for food and drink.

Free, if slow, internet access. Staff friendly and helpful. Numerous and reasonably-priced excursions on offer. Breakfast is very basic but the later afternoon brings a cup of tea and an intriguing sweet to your room.

Incredibly charming hotel on a great location, near the kraton, birds market and the water palace. A lot of good restaurants at walking distance.
Breakfast area is next to the fish pond and lovely swimming pool. Each terrace gives out on the pool. It's a real gem. Very nice setting.
Rooms are spacious and bathroom is OK. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I would certainly go there again and recommend it to everybody visiting Yogyakarta. We loved it.

Via Via (cafe-restaurant-travel agency, Belgian owned) Yogyakarta is nearby. They offer great excursion packages and the meals are delicious.
