My wife and i stayed for 3 night in Inna Garuda. It is a beautiful old hotel in the heart of joyga. The entrance is so very elegant, the staff very helpful, the rooms are spacious. We enjoyed the ambience of the hotel very much. Every morning I could look out and see Mount Merapi usually in clouds this time of year. The Price was very reasonable Our one negative was the restaurant; for such a classy hotel the meals were to be blunt inferior.. We will definitely stay here again but will eat elsewhere !

Room Tip: 7th fllor was a great choice

Inna Garuda is the right place to stay in Yogyakarta. It's located at the heart of city that known as Batik city, in Malioboro actually. Ancient designed with javanese ornaments makes you comfort stay here. Souvenir shops and traditional vehicles ain't hard to reach and railway station is 5 mins by walking. For breakfast menus are satisfied, mostly are java tastes. Pick up and delivery service to airport is available and free of charge.

I am not a picky person. You really need to try hard to make me unhappy. I wanted to stay where locals stay so I chose Inna Garuda hotel just at the famous Marlioboro street. Stuff is not used to foreign guest so communication was not easy. Can't get any information about nothing. Windows are supposed to be sound proof... it was very loud at 6th floor. I opened the window to have a smoke and it almost fall down. Could not close it so I called for service team to repair it. They came, they saw, the said tomorrow... tomorrow never came. next day I was stuck in elevator for few minutes and panic button did not work. Pool was decent. Breakfast buffet as well. But smoking area was much bigger than non smoking and for 4 days I had no other choice but smoking breakfast. Best thing about staying there is that just across the street there is a leather shop with products made off sting fish, shark and snake skins. Small and hidden so I would not find it if I did not stay in Inna Garuda. I bought myself shark skin leather wallet for ca. 40$ so it was worthwhile stay after all :) Another mistake was staying at Marlioboro Street. It is good for one short trip but staying there was just crazy. On the good side of the location - it's next to train station and bus station. Direct bus will take you to Prambanan Temple for 3000 rupiah one way. Taxi from a hotel - 350 000 return with maximum of 3 hours. Ridiculous :)

The hotel location is right on the famous Malioboro street, a very strategic location for people that like to shop and eat there. The building style is classic dutch architecture, while the room is very standard but clean. The staff here are very friendly and helpful.
And although it's located in the heart of the very busy Malioboro, it's very quiet and peaceful in the hotel. So you can escape the busy and hectic ambiance of Malioboro in just a few step away.
I recommend this hotel for the first timer, as it is right in the heart of Jogja and got easy access to the batik shopping area and food stall. And also if you like to jog, the hotel is the ideal place to start your run in Sunday morning. Running through Malioboro, passing a lot of aerobic community working out on the street on car free day. So always remember your running shoes.

First of all, this hotel is just in front of Malioboro street in Yogjakarta. Second, train station is just near by. So in terms of location, it is excellent. Then come to hotel itself. This hotel is of dutch architecture and inside the hotel is spacious. My hotel room was clean with room quality fair enough. Bathroom is also good. Breakfast in the morning with good number of menu. Overall I should say that this is a very good hotel for first time visitor in this area. I highly recommend this hotel for staying in terms of price also.
