I liked the traditional style of this guest house and the leafy courtyard, but my room was very small and the bathroom was extremely cramped. I don't know why they didn't give me a nicer room since they seemed to have few other guests during my stay. I moved to Bamboo Bamboo for my remaining nights in Yogya.

Room Tip: Ask to see more than one room before committing

Dear Sir/Madame

Thank you for taking time to provide a feedback. Just like other guest house/hotels, it is true that we have different type of rooms with different sizes, facilities and rates. We are sorry if you felt/did not receive better information about the other rooms. There are a few possibilities for this case e.g other rooms might look empty but there were actually guests who leave very early in the morning to go sightseeing and come back late at night (happens all the time), the rooms look empty but they are actually reserved but the guests are coming later than scheduled (happens a few times, e.g last week) or perhaps you asked for a specific thing/facility/rate when doing the reservation which made our staff limited the options? Whatever it was, we apologize for the inconvenience. We hope we could serve you better if next time you decided to stay with us.

This place is very close to the object of tourism sites, such as Kraton Yogyakarta, Malioboro, Vrederburg Fort, The Square, Lot of Museum and many others. You can walk for access to these places, or for elder, You can hire a pedicab at a cheap price. (Starts from Rp.5000-Rp 30000 or around 5¢ - $2.5)
You can book a travel to tour Borobudur or Prambanan temple.

yes, I get breakfast every morning, that's make me feel safe from hungry feeling and I don't have to worry about looking for breakfast outside.
but also, outside the hotel there are many food choices suitable for lunch. This hotel is located in the central area, so there are many places to eat, even till late night, there is a dining area that is open until 2am

This themed place with a culture of Java and open-air space for a breakfast place. every morning, you will hear the sound of the birds that make you become a beautiful morning.

yes, there is hot water. don't worry.

This place is suitable for the traveler who is ready around to local centers in Yogyakarta.

Have a Nice Trip and be Happy Traveler! ;)

I booked this guesthouse on pure instinct as well as a comment by a previous reviewer who wrote that to stay here is to experience life in the Kraton. And was I glad that I did??!! It is an old style house, cozy with 8 rooms only. Quiet, clean and elegant. We stayed for 3 nights and in Room 6; a double room with double bed; private bathroom with basin and cordoned-off toilet and shower. Good lighting in bathroom. A very efficient AC in room, also a TV. Only one channel (Global) had English language movie on, and only for one of the evenings. But we did not require TV, so it was no problem. I booked through booking.com and my e-mails to the guesthouse consequent to the booking were always answered promptly and in detail by Resti. All requests were adhered to, for example my request for a hairdryer. She also advised on taxi rates payable from the train station. Indonesian style breakfast was small, but good. There seems to be someone on duty 24 hours. Service very friendly and accommodating. For example, bananas organised for us to take along when we left early for the trip to Borobudur. Bottled water supplied in room. There is a general fridge stocked with soft drinks, juice and some wafer chocoloates; no alcohol. But you can get ice cold beer at The Royal Garden restaurant on your right as you go to Sono Bodoyo museum. Definitely go into the funky youth shop next to the restaurant too. Ndalem is extremely centrally located and we walked everywhere. It is especially lovely to walk around the walled area at night. Good not to be holled up in a hotel and to be part of the community. Leafy little garden with ample bird sounds. Have earplugs if you fear being woken up too early. You can pay by with credit card, but there was a connection problem when we tried to, so make sure you have sufficient cash on hand just in case. I recommend this guesthouse to anyone who wants to stay at a decent, quiet, classy place; not for back packers. It is close enough to the pulse/vibe, but surroundings are quiet and relaxed. An Indonesian friend who came to visit us was amazed at how lovely the place is for very fair rates. We will stay here again should there be an opportunity.

Room Tip: Seems as if double rooms all front the little courtyard where breakfast is served. Specify that you want a double bed and private bathroom.

It is a small, friendly, indonesian guesthous, well situaeted for exploring the ancient city of Yokjakarta. Thea also arrange some trips for you and have some birds in their atrium. As our taxi to the airport did not come in time, they improvised a tranfer for both of us in an effective manner. Go for a room with its own wc/bathroom. Regarding breakfast: its very indonesian; if you tell your wishes, they try to fulfill.

Room Tip: Go for a room with its own bathrom/wc

You will get a warm welcome from the staff and find a very traditional interior design as you walk in. With a simple room yet very clean, you'll get the feel as in you are in your own home. Ndalem Maharani is in the heart of Jogja. If you like culinary and want to try Gudeg, the authentic dish of Jogja, it's only a meter away. If you like shopping or want to know the history of Jogja, Malioboro & Keraton is 10 minutes by walking. So it's a very strategic yet afordable place to stay while you're in Jogja. Have a wonderful journey ;)
