Being a first timer to Indonesia, everything seams exotic and unfamiliar. Dining at Abhayagiri Restaurant was the first time I felt somewhat at home with the highly-trained, English speaking staff and the very recognizable dishes on the menu. When the meal arrived I was pleasantly surprised how the international dishes were infused with local spices and ingredients (I had the Norwegian Salmon steak... scrumptious!).
Apart from the food tasting delicious, the view and surroundings blew me away. You can sit and dine on a terrace with a breath-taking view over a vast valley with cloud covered mountains in the distance. A few famous temples peak out from the rolling brush and at dusk the vista is something from a painting.
I would not miss this experience if you are visiting Yogyakarta (Indonesia, for that matter.)
