It will be a good tourism attraction if they provide more information about the place, so we'll know the history of every building inside the fortress.

To be honest, there's nothing interesting about the fort but... in front of it, there are many benches where the locals like to sit. See an interesting person there? Walk towards the traffic light near the intersection, find the girls who sell flowers, buy one, go back to that person, give the flower to them and talk. Good luck! I made one friend there, she's a music teacher. I can't wait to meet her again the next time I visit Jogja again.

If you like history and if you're Dutch (like me) you'll love this place! It's located on a strategic place (of course) near the kraton and still very much intact! This former Dutch fort was used to keep an eye on the Sultans and to 'protect' him. It's not a big place but worth the money (and you don't pay that much entrance fee anyway). If you walk to the back you can go up the defense walls and walk almost completely around.

All historic sites in Yogya are a bit run down, but this one has something interesting. There's a synchronical series of dioramas, from which you can learn something how the Indonesian experience the Dutch occupation. A quiet place.

Small entry fee (less than 1 euro)
Spend a hour or so walking around, walk the walls.

The museum itself looked run downed, the exhibits are not interesting but the cafe looked really nice for a quick meal or drink. There are more local than foreign visitors here.
