“Perfect relaxing break, good restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2011

Last weekend we went with two couples to Yogya for Chinese New Year. Jogja Village inn is a nice hotel with a beautiful garden. You get towels, daybeds, swimmingpool, good service. The room is big with nice details. Upstairs room have a balcony with relaxing sofa. The bathroom is good, but toilet needs stronger cleaning. It was clean but they should use a cleaner with lemon smell or somehting like that. Location is quiet - but taxi is comfortable and not expensive. Quality and price are good. You get free high tea and free 10 minutes foot massage. And we tried the restaurant only for lunch - but it is great! The food is fresh and good! (we tried Indonesian dishes). The matress in our room was really soft. But overall I would recommend it and come back myself.

Adored this tiny Javanese authentic boutique hotel.
Amazing thought, detail & love invested into this charming family run property.
San Francisco based Make up Artist
founded this oasis in 1987 on a rice patty field and has kept service and facility standards high.
Our deluxe tree house room hung above the pool. Great details suprised us including 70's tiki vibe,
awesome local cuisine and helpful staff.

Thankyou Vera and family

This was a hotel that lived up to the other reviews. It would have been very expensive for most locals, but for the average Western tourist, it was value for money. Our room was off the main road and we had a balcony overlooking the pool, yet still very private because of the trees. The grounds were very lush and tropical and pretty flowers falling off the trees added to the beauty and romance of the place. I'd definitely come back. The food was delicious and very filling. We tried the Indonesian dishes both nights, and we were not disappointed. The fruit drink in the coconut was great, too. There were not a lot of breakfast choices, but servings were more than sufficient. Staff was extremely friendly, and someone was always available to assist. Rooms were clean and spacious and the bright colours and furnishings were very comfortable. It had all the amenities you needed, with TV and internet, if you wanted to bother! Loved the quieter pace of Yogyakarta compared to Jakarta; just wish we had more time there. I wanted to use the spa treatments and learn about batik - maybe next time! Only one negative was the early morning "wake up" call to prayer, as there's a mosque right at the back of the hotel. But, I fell asleep shortly thereafter, so it wasn't a big deal overall.

Downside: pricey and deluxe rooms quite small and not too luxurious.

Upside: very friendly staff, clean, good food in restaurant (very good soto ayam)

Dear Sir/ Madam,

We thank you for staying in Dusun Jogja Village Inn. In accordance to the name of our hotel "Dusun" which means small village, our concept is bringing a village nuance with the architecture, rustic interior and the tranquil atmosphere. Hopefully our concept did not lessen the comfort you had while staying here. And there is also special discount for low season. We will always do our best to upgrade our services and quality by your feedback, to be able to give more excellent experience to our guests. We invite you to stay in Dusun again in the near time. The Jogja VIllage Inn was a highlight of many great moments in my stay in Yogjakarta. Jogjakarta is an interesting city, rich with history and culture, but let's be frank: it's a bit grubby. The inn is on a very non-descript street and my driver from the airport had some trouble finding it, so be sure to have the number on hand for the driver. But on arriving you'll find it is a well-maintained hotel, with simple rooms, but with details that set it apart from the various chains available in the city, plus a fair sized refreshing pool and bar/restaurant. Also, there's a very relaxing Javanese-style massage room staffed by two very sweet masseuses, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

One of the most convenient facilities in the hotel, however, is the travel agency right in the lobby. Through them I hired a driver and coordinated a trip to Borobudur, Prambanan, the Dieng Plateau and the National Ballet. Very helpful and trustworthy people.

Dear Sir,

We thank you for staying in Dusun Jogja Village Inn some time ago. The main street near our hotel is Jalan Parangtritis, it would be easier to find. Though, it is always better to give the complete address to the driver. We are happy if you had a pleasant moment during your stay in Dusun Jogja. We are also pleased that our services and facilities can be helpful to you. Moreover, we always do our best in improving our services and quality. Looking forward to your next stay in Dusun Jogja. We booked direct with the hotel and Ms Vera the Assistant Manager has been very helpful with our e-mailed queries. Good start .. me think :) We were pleasantly surprised when they told us during check in that since the superior room that we booked is under renovation they gave us an upgrade to deluxe room on the upper floor. I like the room as it has its own balcony overlooking the pool but with trees in between that offer some privacy. Furnishing is brass bed with wooden table and cupboard. Rustic interior... tile, wall, wooden door look that way I suppose. The choice of colour, green and orange, is what made the room a little different too ;) Oh and there is no TV but we requested for 1 hoping not to miss the EPL game. Food at the Joglo restaurant was good.... for lunch ... and breakfast even though the choice is limited is adequate and very tasty. Thumbs up for service, very helpful staff and always smiling.

After a good but 'normal' stay the Melia Purosani, we moved on to the Dusun and encountered a 'glitch': we were informed by the our booking agent (WOTIF) that the Dusun had been overbook and had no room left.

We were offered two options by the hotel : stay one night in another hotel and move to the Dusun the next day or they offered to put us up in a special room and move to the proper room the next day. Not wanting the hassle of changing hotel, we opted for the latter.

Upon arrival, we checked-in, the manager profusely apologized for our predicament and duly informed us our room was ready. A hotel staff then carried our luggage to the room.

It turns out they converted their TV room into a bedroom just for us. The toilet was spartan but everything else was great! Basically, I guess other guest can't use the TV that night. Later on, they sent complimentary tea to the room. Our room is basically at the hotel 'lobby' but we don't mind since it's a small hotel.

In the Dusun, service is KING, easily out-shining the Melia Purosani where we stayed earlier. The staff is great, the pool is just nice and the complimentary banana fritters were so excellent that we ordered more. The rooms are refreshingly different from normal hotels (orange and green walls?) and the shower/toilet has the open-air rustic concept yet it's private. It's a quaint and charming little hotel. Room comes without Tv (I believe it's on request). Breakfast comes with real, freshly squeezed, orange juice. Not so much variety of food : just adequate.

The night before we left we called the reception and inform them of our morning flight.
The day we left in the early morning and the hotel has prepared packed breakfast for us! A first for all the hotels we've been too.

Overall, the Dusun is a gem and the only regret we have was not booking our stay here much earlier.

Dear Sir,

We thank you for your stay in Dusun Jogja and your highly commended opinions towards our hotel and services. We feel very honored that according to you we can compete with the five stars hotel Melia Purosani. We also delighted knowing that you were willing staying in our "emergency room", hopefully it did not lessen the comfort you had. We are happy too that our services can be helpful to you. And yes, the television is on request for free, but usually our foreigner guests prefer a quiet room without one. Regarding the breakfast menu, we are doing our best to make more variations of the food choices, as well as many other improvements we make in order to give more experiences and better services to our guests. We are looking forward to welcome you in Dusun Jogja again on your next trip. Rgds
