This restaurant operates from the upper floor of a two-storey building located beside Malioboro Mall along Jalan Malioboro, the busiest tourist street in Yogyakarta.

We asked around and found out that it was one of the most popular restaurants for tourists in that area apart from those located inside the big shopping mall. We decided to check it out for lunch but even at half past one in the afternoon they were not ready and still cleaning up and setting up the tables. However we were the only ones there and occupied one table overlooking the street below, with a good view of the Malioboro Mall, the busy street and the activities going on along the row of shops across the road.

Aside from the nice view, in my humble opinion, there was nothing to shout about, not the place nor the food. The dining area was not well-maintained and the furniture and décor looked very old and tired, thus failing to give it a positive ambiance, and the food was just so-so. The lackadaisical attitude of the staff did not help too.

Honestly this restaurant needs a refurbishment to effectively capitalize on its strategic location.

Walking up and down Malioboro Street, we came past this restaurant and gave it a try. I must say it was not really convincing. The appearance of the restaurant is not the greatest one, although in this prime location it could be doing much better. The place was dirty, on our tablecloth we could still see the gravy stains and rice of the previous guests. Food was alright (we ate Sate and Bami Goreng) although it took the waiter forever to bring some condiments. Service was not very efficient but friendly. This restaurant needs some renovation and a proper cleanup. Will try to find somewhere else to eat tonight...

Last year when we visited Legian Garden restaurant we were disappointed that it was a little ordinary in comparison to the previous time we had visited. This year we decided to try it again and were delighted that it was back to being quite good. We enjoyed our meal and the service was once again up to scratch.

Nice outlook over the main street where you can watch the world go by.

This is a cool place to eat (open air with a cover overhead), however, when people starting leaving we noticed there were rats scurrying under the tables to eat scraps. That was disconcerting, to say the least. Of course, this may not surprise people from the area, but westerners aren't used to this...
